Um, how is it cheating? You can only kill 5 primeval demons per game cycle... And "farming" for them takes pretty long. You gotta lower WT, so on.

How could it be considered cheating since it is part of the game? The droprate on colorless demon's souls from the Primevals isn't 100% even. It's high but you can get screwed out of one.

Eh... I've gotten 5 colorless demon's souls off of one primeval demon. I would have gotten more but I killed it by accident.

Since by "farming" you mean exploiting the game into getting numerous Colorless souls from one primeval demon, I'd say say yes, it's cheating. But then, I really couldn't care less what other people do in their games. If you want to, what I'd consider, cheat then by all means do so.

In my opinion, yes. It gives players who use such exploits an unfair advantage over others who do not.

I believe this is simple exploitation. If the game had no pvp feature I wouldn't have any problems with it, but considering how one using this "trick" can max out all the unique items while the rest of us work hard for them... well...

Lets just say its not fair.

I have done it (I mentioned it in another thread), but tbh I only got one or two souls out of it. For some reason it is not like you pick it up every time. It's pretty rare actually.

I get the pvp anger, but I soooo resent farming. And honestly? I don't have the time for it.

If it makes you feel better I haven't even had a chance to use them yet. They will ultimately go into my adjudicator shield, which is clearly a pve item.

Once I retrieve the blind this playthrough and upgrade that, you can start to worry :p

Don't underestimate the psychological advantage that comes when your opponent realizes you never need to stop for healing, and will never run out of grasses.

As someone who's really mad about not having enough Colourless Demon's Souls to upgrade everything I want, yeah this bugs me. On the other hand it doesn't seem like a major competitive advantage over anyone who made a smart choice about what they're going to crank to +5.

I just did it to take advantage of the halloween event. I don't have much time to play and I try to use it efficiently. The only colorless soul I received on my first playthrough was the one on the beam in Miralda's office. So, don't worry, you're all way more upgraded than me.

On the adjudicator for pvp, I could see that, but again, I'm way to spastic to switch weapons during combat, so most of the time I'll run wand in left, two handed weapon in right. Then hit light weapon, triangle. No time to switch back to the shield.

Adjudicator shield for PVP, really debatable. I found less threat on Shield user then dual hand user. It actually boost my confident on a easy fight.

joest01, eq switching is definite a must, let alone just switching your left1 eq to left2 eq. If your nicely setup on inventory, you can even switch items in inventory to hand within 1.5 seconds just to adapt on the battle condition.

Aww man I just watched the youtube video. That is so unfair. I spent hours of blue phantoming to undo my pure black CT I needed to get the colorless demon's soul from Mephistopheles. Oh well I gotta admit it was satisfying to kill Patches. I only got one colorless soul from Mephistopheles though because Biorr was gone as I had already killed the blue dragon in 1-4.

From Software needs to look into patching that. Farming colorless demon's souls like that is worse than soul sucking a black phantom and having the BP disconnect. Because farming souls and using them to level will simply put the cheaters out of range to invade. With farming colorless souls they can stay low level to invade but be super crazy powerful for their level :(

Well, I think for myself getting colorless demon's souls is kind of meh (as I don't use weapons that require colorless demon's souls to upgrade anyway) but what I do like about the primeval demon's is if you mess up your chance of getting pure white tendency, you can use a primeval demon to get pure white via this glitch.

Getting a colorless demon's soul is a small bonus to me as getting the world pure white is usually more important, especially if the opportunity was missed. We all know getting pure black is cake. Pure white, not so much.

If I wanted to be uber-equipped in pvp I could just de-level like so:
invade jump off cliff, invade jump off cliff, invade jump off cliff ...

@MetalSlug: like I said, I'm too spastic for that, so I rely on rolling instead. If I see you from far away and you're the brushwood tower shield turtle type wielding a DBS, I might switch to DSS and scraping spear and circle you away from your power hand. (Although, if you're smart you are two handing the DBS anyway.)

Ironically, the only one that didn't drop for me was the one I killed after equipping my brand-new Large Sword of Searching. (The first four also dropped while my Luck was still at 11; the fifth one failed me with a stat boosted to 31. Go figure.)

Actually, it works very well. And it's the only way to get pure white tendency if you messed up previously and didn't kill the primeval demon.

And as far as the LSoS goes... I get better drop rates withouth it equipped.

But the devs never patched it out.
And you know what? I've decided to keep a tally. For every time someone rage quits on me, I get to farm another colorless demon's soul like this. That makes....at least 40.

The farming really doesn't bother me as 10 CDs would suffice the best of unique weapons fitted for your specific build. (Kris Blade +5, PPole +5 for mage, Adj Shield +5 LSoM for Blessed melee, DBS+5 DSS+5 for Str based)

2 regular play throughs are really all you need from CDs besides Trophy hunting.

So I'm a little more interested in getting these the legit way... How many are there in each NG? I finished my first game with either 6 or 7 so I know I missed some (2 primevals woops). I was just making a list of them and so far I've got 5 colorless souls from primevals (one per world), 2 from mephistopheles, and 1 just sitting there in 1-1 by Miralda so that's 8, and I'm guessing there's a couple more sitting around... anyone know where? I can't remember and the wiki I'm looking at isn't very good at telling me lol.

So... carry the one, minus the 2, blah the blah. 10 total Colorless Demon's souls in a game.

I never tried this before, until today. I got 16 in 45 minutes, farming in 4-2. I got a colorless demon's soul every time. I invaded naked and fought with fists only, except I was wearing a hat... Someone broke my hat with their scraping spear (100 soul bill). :D

You need a strong black world tendency, either Pure Black or one notch below Pure Black world tendency.

when its PBWT just start in 2-1, run up the stairs and do a u-turn, run past the rocks(avoid being hit), when you come into the building there will be a wheel thing you can turn on your right, turn it and step out the door right next to it, jump on the elevator and it will take you down to the demon.

Calvin, this is a glitch farming, not normal farming since CDS is limited to a maximum of 10 per playthrough. So technically, it is very similar to duping and trophy holding.

I'm all for CDS farming cause it gets me PvP ready quicker though.

Also don't know if someone mentioned it, you can use the same method with the crow instead of PDs. just pick up the CDS right before the loading screen.
