Anyone have any input as to how the sword treats them at higher levels with a nice dex build?

I quite like the sword, but I'm not quite sure if its worth it. I put it up to +5 anyway for fun.

So far, my stats are

Vit: 20
Int: 27
End:25
Str: 35
Dex:52
Mag:17 (I know, piss poor)
Faith: 12 (Even more piss poor)
Luck:11 (eh... whatev)

I like it in PvP. They cant block it. You should try it out.

I've already had the pleasure... it's such a vindicating feeling watching them hoist up their shield and prepare for the block, holding their scraping spear in their right hand, ready for you to tire yourself out on wasteful swings... and then shlink, shlink, shlink *bleeding*, shlink, back-roll, poison cloud, Shlink...

Groovy.:seesaw:

I am unable to find Selen in the swamp, where the heck is she? Is she near the 4 trolls guarding the loot?

Okay, kinda. She IS on that side of the barricade, although she is not near them. As soon as you enter past the barricade, you should see her sitting down on a piece of piled refuse, waiting to talk to you (if, of course, you are neutral tendency or white, I suppose) whereas, when the WT is black, she'll be around the same place as a black phantom. You will find her closer to the barricade where you enter, if you're going to find her anywhere.

Dude, I have 70 Dexterity and that weapon is nasty. It drops people who aren't prepared for it like flies.

While it is good, I'd rather find other ways to kill people honestly. It's a matter of principle i guess.

To appeal to the sense of fair play, I don't mind using other weapons, of course, but yeah, I see where you are coming from.

I skipped the Selene battle in my first cycle since I was stuck with 190K after the Maiden went down the hole and didn't want to risk losing them to one of those Depraved a-holes. Since then my build has swifted more towards Magic but from what I hear this weapon must be great... only problem now is to kill her in NG+... well, how hard could that be?

Actually, Fioth, that's where I just killed her. I had some saved colorless stones. The fight wasn't that hard, actually. She kept trying to cast, and I was using my Large sword of searching. She would move away, I would give her a wallop, she'd move away, try to cast... wallop. It was honestly the easiest fight in the game I've had with a named BP. Although, I could have just had a funny AI moment, ahah!

She is actually one of the hardest fights due to the fact that you cannot roll on the swamp while she indeed can. Also the fact that she has the Blind makes her hard as well; no dodging nor blocking, ouch.

But yea once she is low health she will into her "oh noez, I gotta heal" phase, in which you can take her out nicely.

Oh yea, one more thing, you can shoot her with arrows from a safe distance for an easier time.

I skipped that weapon on my first playthrough because of my low dex stat but I definitly plan to get it this time around, and personally I don't see a point in worrying about what's fair in pvp. If light weapon enchanted meat cleavers are fair than everything is as far as I'm concerned.

I've read that by stacking graverobber and thief's rings you can actually sneak up on her and just use soulsucker killing her instantly.

I haven't tried it yet but that's how I plan to kill her.

Trust me, I read every word... :) I don't like the fact that she can roll in the swamp and I can't. That's a HUGE disadvantage.

Also, I'm fairly happy with my +5 Dragon Longsword and Northern Regalia. Oh, and my newly created +5 Sticky Longbow (thanks FaiOth) ;)...faily above avg. weapons I guess..

Oh, I wasn't supposing that you didn't read every thing. Just checks and balances, you know. And I'm jealous of the sticky compound longbow +5. Ugh... It makes me sad to think about how I'm mainly just low on the shards, heh.

If you have the Thief's Ring, Clever Rats Ring and Magic Sword "Makoto", then you could have a very easy fight with that +5 Sticky Longbow. Use "Makoto" to lower you HP to <30% and shot at her from the walkway. She'll run away from you but will return to her island if you have the Thief's Ring equipped.

Sometimes she rolls pretty far away (far enough so that she's pretty much invisible) and heals herself 100%, if you don't interrupt her. She annoyed me one too many times, so I took out the meat cleaver... :)

You probably already know this but don't forget that you can only get Blind in PBWT. Another tip is trying to stay on the island where she's at and you can maneuver better though you have to be careful cuz the game's pretty picky about what's land and what's swamp. =.=

I was able to beat her the first time by using the Dragon Bone Smasher and just hitting her over the head with it. It was pretty funny. :D

That's funny about the Bone Smasher. And I'm glad I came back in here. So, you can only get Blind in PBWT? Do you get it from Selen's Black Phantom? Does she give anything in PWWT? Does CT effect what she drops? What's the record for most questions asked in one post? :p:)

Yup, you can only get Blind as a drop from her BP. In PWWT she drops a Ring of Devout Prayer, which you can get by just beating the BP Garl and giving her the crest since he only appears in PWWT, and a Dull Gold Armor set which is awesome... if your character is a female lol. Character tendency does not affect anything she drops nor any other NPC drops I would think, only WT does. And.... I do not have an answer to your last question lol.

I'm really interested in getting this sword for my dex-based hunter. I was happy to conquer the poison swamp of 5-2 without dying, and I finally got revenge on that meat cleavering black phantom who gave me so much trouble on my other character. I have a question, should I defeat maiden astrea before I drop world 5 to pure black? Or should I go ahead and drop the tendency now?

And another question, which way is faster for reaching black phantom Selen, from the leechmonger or dirty colossus stone?

Beags, if you are near neutral tendency currently, then drop the world to black. If you're already at PWWT, then just go ahead and defeat Astraea. No sense making it harder to drop the WT for yourself. :-)

Location? Battle tactics? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RRjx_LFs7g) <--- Watch that.

Hyper mode ftw.

It's faster to use the Dirty Collossus stone to get to Selen, but she's kinda in the middle of the map so you'll have to do some battl'n either way.. One big troll from Leechmonger, and two big trolls from Dirty Collossus..

On a sidenote.... I'm willing to trade for Blind, lemme know what you want and I'll check my massive inventory of items.. ;)

You can easily bypass all the enemies up to Selen by going through the poison swamp though if you have the thief ring equipped... that's what I did the first time to get to her lol. Then I went back and whooped their butts.

A kind soul yesterday gave me a Blind since he had two (you know who you are friend. You have my thanks ;) ). I upgraded it immediately to +5 and I must say that the dmg output is pathetic. Yes, it scales on S with DEX, it has defense bypass and fast swings but it can only be used under very specific situations (pvp mainly and to deal any real pain the user must be in Hyper).

So, if you need something for pvp and are running a low VIT build go for it, if you don't use something else. You got high FAITH? Istarelle rules you know. ;)

If you have Poison Cloud, defeating the BP Selen is trivially easy. Just sneak up behind her (with the Thief's Ring & Graverobber's Ring equipped) cast Poison Cloud...wait a couple minutes....cast again...wait a couple minutes...cast once more, wait less...and she's dead.

I tried meleeing with her a few times, and ended up growing endlessly frustrated without being able to roll and dodge effectively. Thus, I resorted to a cheap (albeit effective) kill.

Yea, the game's pretty picky about what's land or not in 5-2 so you gotta be careful if you melee against her :p

I managed to kill Selen's phantom without too much difficulty (On first cycle).
Get a decently powerful and fast weapon with good reach (I used a winged spear+9) and two-hand it, and time your strikes so that you can interrupt her swings. When she dropped back to heal I interrupted her with some arrows, and she was done for!

There are two wonderfully easy ways to kill Selene in NG+, one of which applies basically to every non-boss enemy in the game.

1) Using your Thief's Ring and Graverobber's Ring and without wearing clanky armor, sneak quietly up behind her and cast Soulsucker. You win.

2) Toss a Soul Remains anywhere near her and backstab her as she blatantly ignores you. Then, as she gets up off the ground, circle strafe around her and backstab her again. Repeat.

The timing on this is a bit tricky the first few times, but you can keep this up almost infinitely with enemies like Satsuki, black phantom skeletons, etc., and win insanely dangerous fights without any real risk. Just don't screw up once, or they'll hand your dripping face back to you.

Blind is a joke in high lvl pvp, LSoM eats it anyday with better reach, and most good players don't even have shields anyway. so save your CDs for something more useful.
