Trying to figure out which weapon to dump my moonlight stones into.

The only difference I know they have is that mirdan hammer does blunt damage and war scythe does slash damage and has 180 bleeding but other than that their damage growth is the same. Judging by that the scythe looks like the better choice because of the additional bleeding.

Is there any benefit to having blunt damage? Is it true it's better at breaking guards?

Blunt is great for skeles. Maybe, I suck, but the crushing mirdan hammer +5, although dealt good damage, seemed too slow when dealing with the skeles. I like to bash them with a blessed mace or dragon morning star (which, unfortunately, doesn't scale). Sharpstone? It's junk. :) (You can probably just farm some geckos/lizards...and miners with bags or pickaxes in 2-*)

Go for Crushing Mirdan Hammer +5. Since it is good for bashing stuff I recommend a good STR stat and some endurance. Works well.

Also, the reason why the Hammer/Scythe seems slow is because its supposed to be wielded with both hands. Its a pole weapon, zweihander is key.

War Scythe is great for taking on thieves and mages... light armor sucks against slashing and doesn't pump Bleeding resistance much either, meanwhile you get a lot of fast stabs and sweeps with nice reach for hitting those dodgy guys.

It's a poor choice for defense-oriented enemies, polearms seem to have so-so guard breaking and heavy armors all resist Slash more than everything else. I prefer a Large Sword or Large Axe for dudes like that since the moves are harder to interrupt.

Maybe I'll build toward strength to use some of those heavier weapons then.

I'm just looking for something to go with a fatal dagger +5 to finish someone off after I get a backstab in and the pole weapons have a good balance between range, power, and speed.

I want to upgrade to moon because most shields don't block magic well. I won't be putting any stat points in anything besides dexterity and endurance until I'm sure I can make a +5 moon weapon though. Until then I think I'll use a sticky compound long bow and a dragon mirdan hammer since dragon weapons don't scale with stats.
