Alright, so the game suckered me in. It did it. After starting NG+ and having lost very few battles when I was invaded I decided, "Hey, since I'm so good at stuffing the invasion of opposing players I should try to invade and have some fun."

Boy, was I freaking wrong.

Every...single...time I have had my rear end handed to me when I've tried to invade. I don't know what it is, but it's like I'm wearing a big bullseye on my shirt, my hands are tied behind my back, I'm blindfolded and wearing a PedoBear mask. I am a walking target for these people.

I wish, I wish, I wish that DS had a party system to be able to party up and invade people's games. Also, so that you could party up to play together with Blue Phantoms.

Oh, and I had my first experience against a scraping spear in PvP. Balls. That sucked too.

Invading as a party ehh? If I were to get invaded by 3 black phantoms at once, I would probably get very hungry, and have to quit game to make a sandwhich with mustard, and pickles.

A 3v3 PvP party would be nice...

if they were to implement a system that allowed multiple BPs to invade the same game ONLY if the host's game had an equal number of players, then that could make for some fun fights.

Invading other people is a dangerous gambit. You are always risking getting ganged by multiple enemies but there are other factors to consider as well. The host's World Tendency in the dungeon you are invading will have an effect on your stats - if I understand it correctly - and the living player will be waiting for you while you are spawning in an area without knowledge of how much the other players have progressed or what they have killed so far.

If you are confident do it... but you are bound to get your ass handed to you on certain occasions. xD

Playing as a black phantom is tough. But it should be - the black phantom is risking nothing, and the living player has his life and his souls to lose.

Big mistakes I often see black phantoms make are:

1) They don't attack the host aggressively enough when he's alone. A lot of times, as the host, I'll just let the black phantom delay forever - the longer we wait, the more likely I'll find friends to summon.

2) They don't run away to let the NPC demons in the area help them when there are blue phantoms summoned. It's the best way to try and win when you're outnumbered, or to just get safe so you can use healing items and such. Those other monsters are your "teammates."

You need more souls in your diet. At no point during such an an encounter should you see three black phantoms. You should only ever see a bunch of juicy souls.

Not a mistake. The black phantom just doesn't want his life back. He's waiting to kill your reinforcements. For souls. Delicious souls.

This should go without saying but if you really objectively look at the positive and negatives of being the invader it becomes clear... The game is designed to stack the odds in the favor of the host. The only way the BP can get anything resembling a "fair fight" is if the host allows it. Lets me honest, yes BP's can use mobs in the zone. But those same mobs are ai controlled creatures designed to be able to be beaten by one single person who plays smart. The player gets full hp, the ability to make the world go white which nerfs bp damage, can lay in ambush or just push the boss, and can summon two buddies which are human players and all that entails.

The BP is supposed to lose. Thats just how it is. Which is also why I don't like that the game doesn't track most blue phantoms killed or most body players killed. Because being the BP is harder.

Precisely. That's also why I think having multiple black phantoms is a bad idea. All other things being equal, the host has the advantage, but that's because the host has more at stake. Even taking stone of ephemeral eyes farming into account, you're losing a lot by dying, even without the potential of losing a ton of souls.

But I mean, even though the odds are in favor of the host, there are still plenty of people that are dying against black phantoms in this game, as evidenced by the complaints on this forum :). I think it's pretty much great where it is, if anything needs to be changed at all it's small/specific tweaks of weapons, spells, and effects.

Well, you can be ganked 1 on 1 by me. The joys of pretending to be afk then using homing soul arrow at the last moment before turning around.

Well, that only depends on if the player is going to actually follow the black phantom. Whenever some black phantom does that to me, I just wait for them to get bored and finally come back upon which they usually die.
