I was having some trouble fighting Flamelurker with my magic, Soul Arrow.

I was really wanting to get Thirst, but decided I would give Homing Soul Arrow a second chance (the first time I got it I thought it really sucked). Expecting it to help with Flamelurker, as I can cast and dodge and it still hit him with several Soul Arrows (as the name suggests).

Turns out that Flamelurker is completely immune to Homing Soul Arrow. I cast it several times and got a couple hits point blank, and some from afar, none of which did any damage.

I was just wondering if there are any other enemies that are unexplainably immune to this spell? And also, if I'm the only one that, still, thinks it sucks.

Guess I'll have to try out that thrist I really wanted some other time. :(

Thanks.

Uh there is no way he is immune. He is even weak to magic. Are you sure you just didn't miss? Or maybe you have a really low magic stat? Homing soul arrow is really a spell for people stacking magic.

You're too far away then Buttons. Homing Souls Arrow doesn't have the range of Soul Arrow. I took down Flamelurker with 2 hits of Homing Soul Arrow with a magic of somewhere between 40 and 45 in NG+.

Edit: You almost want to walk it in when casting it if you know what I mean....:D And to add another thing - Depending on what your magic stat is, Soul Ray or Soul Arrow might be a better choice. Homing Soul Arrow adds arrows depending on your magic - At 10 magic, you have 1, 15-2, 19-3, 35-4, and at 31-5. Once you get to 4 arrows per cast, it is very powerful.

I'm quite certain I cast it point blank a few times as he was "flame fisting" me. Perhaps he has an invunerable animation at this point?

Anyways, it would be nice if the arrows waiting to cast until they were in range. Casting at enemies 4 times their range never works out...

Well another to watch out for is if you are in a tight spot. If you try casting it in a corner or a corridor your arrows on the outside will get hit and disappear. You can see this effect anywhere by casting it and then sidestepping into a wall.

If you get a good distance from him, say a 1/3 to 1/2 the length of room, cast it when he makes his charge - After they release, dodge out of the way. The timing may get a try or two to get used to, but when you get it down, you'll be amazed how quickly you can defeat him - Clever Rat's Ring and/or Ring of Magical Sharpness will help as well.
