What exactly are tailsmans and catalyst( I think thats right) and where can I get them??

Catalysts and Talismans are pieces of equipment that are required to cast spells and miracles, respectively. You equip them like any weapon and use them to cast spells (catalysts) and miracles (talismans) you have both learned and memorized.

As for where they're found, I'll let someone who know this part better than myself. I'm still taking my time on my first play-through and have yet to even find a talisman.

Edit: I assume you mean the publishing company, Atlus, that published Demon's Souls here in the U.S.? You're on their forums right now.

Talisman of God can be found on a corpse in 5-1, as well as a corpse in 4-1. It can also be purchased from the Lady merchant in area 5, she moves to 5-2 once you clear 5-1 but she has it in both areas.

As for the catalysts I forgot, but I think the silver one might be in 3 something.

There are some starter packages that come with them and some spells too, like the Royal.

Yep. theres 2 types of tendencys

Character Tendency is a reflection of good or bad deeds and is needed to get the Friends ring or the Foes ring. You gain good tendency for killing black phantoms and not killing NPCs. You gain negative tendency for invading peoples games and killing them, or just killing NPCs.

World Tendency is something you affect so you can get events, like the appearance of black phantoms, or opening up certain areas that weren't open before. You gain positive world tendency for killing black phantoms, reviving blue phantoms (either by killing the boss with them or by using the revive spell on them), killing bosses, and some character quests in levels. You can affect it negatively by invading peoples games, killing them, suiciding alot while in physical form, or by killing npcs.

Poison Cloud spell is it a Royal or a Mage that uses it? I am making my new character right now. Didn't like the hunter. Which do you suggest for fun and cool looking stuff and easy for me to understad lol

Gather4212, any class, any player can use ANY weapon, ANY spell and ANY miracle as long as you have the proper stats and equipment.

So, if you have enough mana, a catalyst, and poison cloud memorized, you can use it.

But if you're asking who starts with poison cloud, I can tell you that no class starts with that spell.

Yep, I'm a Knight, I've got Heal Resurection Second chance, etc etc. But I started the game with no spells what so ever, and one of the better heavy armors in the game.

yep, they all basically said it. the class you choose is what we refer to as an "Origin" its where you start but then you build the character however you want adding spells or wearing different armor, it is completly customizable to fit your play style.

Wooden catalysts can be found in 1-2 on a dead body
Silver catalysts can be found 3-1 on a dead body

What is Atlus - again valid question, I have never heard of them until this game.
What are World tendencies - Again, something unique to this game
Is it a royal or mage that casts Poison Cloud - Again someone who believes the game is like every other game when you pick a class and stick with it (mages / royals would have different spells, armor, etc) rather than picking an "Origin".

Thanks Shim. I am very exited about this game. All these questions have helped me understand it way better! I appreciate all the help I am exited to get into it and play and find this stuff. On my first go through of 1-1,1-2,1-3 I however did not find the wooden catalyst. But maybe I skipped a section that it was at. I will look harder.

Well, don't worry about it, just go to 3-1 and you can get a better silver catalyst up at a tower near the end of the level.

try looking up on one of the ramparts (i dunno if thats the right term) along the wall. You have to climb stairs to get there and there will be 2 archers on top. If I remember correctly it should be on a dead body in 1-2

That would be correct shim. To get the wooden Catalyst its the guys on the first roof on 1.2

"Technically" speaking 3 is a great area to get more spells as you can free an NPC from one of the dungeun cells and he sells a better variety of souls then the NPC who appears in the nexus after 1-1

Also if you want miracles like heal and resurection you'll need to go play in area 4.

Dont forget the other NPC in the later levels of world 1 that sells magic

its easy but ONLY to those who know what they are doing, if this weekend was the first day I had picked up the game I wouldnt have any idea what to do because everything kills my gimp self in 1 hit. you are right I could blow through and get it in no time... which is a good idea I hadn't thought about doing that (then again my tendency wont go to PB even after about 10 restarts.), but a newer player couldnt. Imagine if it was your first time playing and you acciddently went down 1-1 and encountered miralda? you would be face pwnd wo suickly its not even funny. I was like lvl 70 thief and I was having issues with her.

If you have enough time, you can beat her with any of the base classes and a thief ring.

If you have nuts of steel that is.

How is that different from many other things you need or want to accomplish in this game as a first time player? How many attempts would it take an average player to beat the Dragon God without reading about it first in a guide or on the web? time is not what I am talking about (and actually my weekend was fine) the point is that you dont quite understand how difficult it would be to come into a game in PB, eventually yes with enough time you can get past it... but I played a thief on my first run and I died about 20 times in 1-1 and I was on neutral. in NG+ i died twice, buth that was just through stupidity. as you play you get better but unless you played a heavily armoroed class or a magic user on your first playthough you would have died often and 10x more on PB.

It's only effect is that it doubles the enemy draw distance, so that they notice you from twice as far away.

I think it makes crouching on your oppenents after killing them more humilating as you mutilate thier face.
