Old King Allant

He destroyed me last night for the better part of two hours and drained off three soul levels to make the humiliation complete. I need some advice that goes beyond cheesing poison cloud and hiding for fifteen minutes as I've seen suggested elsewhere. I'm a level 68 royal with a crescent falchion +4, purle/dark silver shield, 22 str, 37 mag, 16 dex. Thoughts?

I was getting molestered by him too and lost 4 levesl :(. Finally i said screw it, and went to 3-1 to free Freke so I could get Warding/Total Protection. I also had a lot of herbs and fresh spice to keep myself healed. I used the lava bow and just shot at him from a distance. I also unquipped some gear so that I was under 50% so I could roll a lot better.

My advice for the fight is just keep your distance and dodge a lot. When he charges you, back away, dont fight or heal or he will just unload. Get to a safe distance, then heal, then go back to kicking his arse. BTW, he has been the toughest boss for me by far.

The secret to beating him in melee is in hellmonkey's post. The run where I killed him using demonbrant I only took two hits once I realized his main weakness.

I beat him yesterday on my first try. The Blue Dragon gave me a lot more trouble than Allant did. I didn't have a strategy really, I just used my Wanderer's speed to dodge out of his way, smacked him good whenever he tried to build up to that big attack, and generally just tried to avoid a pure slug out with him. Used the Large Sword of Searching to do it.

I did lose one level though when he grabbed me. Brutal stuff.

I watched my blue phantom get grabbed and drained yesterday. Lets just say he died.

My second try, I killed him. The first try I thought he was impossible alone but he's beatable with melee.

Basically just keep your distance. Not TOO far that he'll do that flying-teleport thing, but far enough that his sword can't reach you. When he does those air-slashing things that shoot waves at you, block with your shield or dodge. DO NOT ATTACK him unless he attacks you and there's an opening. When he's about to do the explosion, hit him immidiately. Basically the key is to dodge his attacks.
PS: I used dragon knight sword+5 on him. I'm not sure if it's the fire, but it definitely made him stumble when I hit him.

He's actually easy if you're careful.

That happened to mine as well.

As I charged at Allant he picked up my blue phantom. I could see the young warriors eyes open wide, he we horrified. Allant dropped his corpse -1 soul to the ground and chuckled. He looked at me and grinned before saying, "..noob"

I raged and finished the deed. He stole one soul from me, but let me live.
