I have 24 Dex 30 Str +10 Long Compound bow and 315 holy arrows(deal more damage than heavy) I get the dragon down to nearly no life, then he breathes right down on me and killed me in one shot...with flame resitance ring and fire shield and water veil...i was only hitting him for 32dmg a shot...this is stupid

btw i'm level 63

Have you tried using a sticky compound long bow + 5? That might bump up your damage due to your high Dex. Probably by a considerable amount too.

cannot get pure spider stone

also with my current set up my weapon 2 (bow) dmg says 286 and it still hits for 30's

You are fighting him in 1-4 correct? And you are supposed to do little damage against it. I'm reading over here on the gamespot forums and someone killed him off after about 300 arrows. He isn't resistant to fire so you might want to go that route as well.

EDIT: Also, you might try to use the clever rat ring. Boost up your attack power that way.

he is resistant to fire, i have the official guide, his stats are as follows

normal, slash, blunt, pierce 632 resistance magic 567 res. fire 950 res. poison plague bleed = strong against it
hp...6102

Oh really, bring a lot of arrows and bring a sleeping tent. You are probably going to be there for a while.

If you have the Morion Blade and Clever's Rat ring, you could use those. That will probably decrease the amount of arrows you will have to use.

i was camping him but once biorr died he no longer focus's on him and blows fire straight down on me...

there is a safe spot up further when u are halfway covered behind a piller and such where u can do more damage because ur closer

That's what I did. If you can get to the first statue on the right, the one that does explode.. if you're one pillar back.. the statue protects you from the fire. You can then just lock-on and fire away. Took me a good 200 - 300 heavy arrows and a white bow to kill him, but it was worth it. Basically, the only way to get to the pillar in time though.. is to watch his flames. He shoots twice, then rears his head back to breath in before blowing two more flames.. if you're quick enough you can run right past and to the door. I only managed to run all that way once.

There is a deadzone where his fire breath will not reach you. I stood just behind the right statue that does not break and shot at him and never died or got hit. The biggest probelm is running up there and timing it between breaths. It also helps to take out the first half of his health at the first bridge. You dont miss there, unless you have really really bad aim or are inside a paint mixer.

I shot him to death with 400 some Heavy Arrows and a white bow today. It was the first time I bothered to use a bow. Heh.

any trick or advice on how to beat him as I am having a hard time trying to kill him

How do you not have a pure spiderstone? You get one when beating the Spider.

I used the clever rat's ring, +5 sticky compund long bow and about 400 reg. arrows on his ass. Lined up my reticle with the middle of his breath attack when as close to the top step without being breathed on. I took anywhere from 9 to 23 points from him per arrow. Not looking forward to him on ng+ though. I'm thinking I'll need 200 more arrows. At least I didn't kill patches this time around and I can get my heavies.

I beat him with 16 dex, a Lava Bow, and 75 heavy arrows...

If you can manage to find Biorr he'll help you fight the dragon. He doesn't do much damage, but he makes it easier to get to the safe spot (He also points it out to you) and every little bit helps.

What I did was load up on Fire Resistant stuff and carry the Clever Rat's Ring with me. I was using a Quality Compound Short Bow +5(I can't find enough Spiderstones to make the Sticky Longbow) and had about 300 standard arrows on me at the time. I equipped all my fire-proofing equipment and a Ring of Great Strength so I could bumrush up the stairs to the safe spot, backed up and got hit ONCE so I would barely survive, got back in the safe zone and equipped the Rat Ring, grabbed a snack and started firing away. It took about 190 Arrows to kill him, and I was averaging about 63 damage a shot.

Wow... I don't know why it takes so long. I had 75 to start and I killed him. Couldn't see the damage (white sky + bad TV contrast)

IIRC, Lava Box works off of your MAG stat, not Dex. It also has a fairly high base damage value I believe.

Shinikama
10-17-2009, 02:24 PM
Oh... I had a 20 MAG at the time. Still, it doesn't seem to justify a 225 arrow split. Maybe because I had White World Tendency? Who knows. Just know that it IS killable (and it's worth it. the soul it drops can be used for 30000 regular souls.)

I killed it with 500 heavy arrows and a Sticky Compound Longbow +1. Theres a "safe" spot on the right that's just out of range. I averaged 15 per hit, and it took a long time. i mean A LONG TIME.

Lava bow works here because he has no resistance to magic.

Anyone want to post a vid so I can see where the safe spot is? I tried killing him 3-4 times already and kept dying in his breath (hit me once for 98% of my health and got hit again before i could get up)... lost 40k+ souls so far :(

In the dragon roost, how do I get past blue dragon's tail?

I used a White Bow in hyper mode.

I will say one thing Eskol is 100% right about on bows... The white bow is garbage. Even at it's minimum usage stats a sticky compound longbow +3 will hit harder and the sticky scales better than it does so the damage gap only widens as you level.

Yeah.. I'll probably get that bow when I get some time. I just happened to already have the white bow.

Good timing. Inch closer until his tail winds up, then backroll out of there. As soon as his tail hits the wall, dash in and grab the item you want, then backroll out. Repeat until all items are gone.

Rescue Biorr. He'll show you exactly where the safe spot is, as he tends to hover near it.

Barring that, it's literally in the top right corner of the area(To the Dragon's left)

Is it possible to kill him in 1-1 while he is in the roost? Seems like an easy place to kill him if you have some arrows. Has anyone tried this?

It is impossible. He can not be damaged while napping in 1-1, I tried, and tried, and tried.

Eskol

it is because he has to be shot in the head, when in 1-4 if you shoot him in the body it does not damage him.

Speaking of which I restarted my character and went all dex, sticky compound longbow+5 35 dex 22str heavy arrows hyper mode...40-50 arrows lol

Are we supposed to beat the blue dragon when Biorr is trying to distract him? or run past the flames? if we run past the flames, will we get another chance to defeat him?

Gen Eric Gui

I believe he stays there until you kill him. I'm not 100% sure though.

Karkarov
10-19-2009, 02:42 PM
Best method is when he first shows up in 1-4 to take him to half health. Then when you see him again later unload. He will stay there if you dodge him but biorr will go down if you don't help him out.

Well if you are a mage he is easy as hell, killed him with soul ray around 100dmg per shot went down very easy, on ng+ I even do more dmg on him so i would suggest either play a mage OR bring lots of arrows if you have trouble beating him look up one of the guides at gamefaqs they really do a good job over there ^^ they do explain some mechanics too

If you're going to kill him with arrows I suggest you bring a friend so that Biorr doesn't die. If not, kill Biorr and run across normally so you know how far you can stand without getting incinerated by the crazy dragon of hate.

Since I'm pretty much a full archer I go nowhere without three bows. (White, Sticky, Lava) my trusty ring of herculean strength, and close to 90 pounds in arrows alone. That way, even in extreme worse case scenarios, you always have an extra 600 arrows to tug off at something.

Requires being happy to farm as a blue phantom every now and again or through levels but a semi-decent luck stat means you don't have to waste that same money on something like, say, crescent, half's, or fulls.

Kore

I guess what I plan on doing with the second appearance of the blue dragon in 1-4 is to kill Biorr for Mephistopheles's quest... so it'll be at the very end of the game cycle.

Ok so i may be a complete noob for this ... but is there a way to aim your magic shots other then locking on? because i cant get close enough to the dragon to hit him before he starts moving his head to breathe fire on me ..

janiefoxkills

yea, you want to run up about halfway stop and then run the rest of the way until you are directly underneath him. when you look up you should be able to target his skull with your bow and shoot arrows directly into his head. it will only take about 100; i did this with a +1 short compound bow and it went very quickly. summons blue phantoms to help you if you want and it will go even faster; most blue phantoms who lay down a soul sign in 1-4 know well enough to always have a bow or crossbow with them when they farm.

id say just use the white bow. i personally can afford toad eye arrows from the vendor at 4-2 so i suggest farming in 4-4 with the rays and then returning to the vendor and buying at least 120 toad eyes. the dragon has now mag resistance so it would die around the 100th arrow with a white bow. (p.s. use the storm sword and kill the rays. it will still have its magic affect in the 4-4 area. good hint for grinding period)
