Most Bizarre Player Invasion

So I wanted to invade a player on 3-1. It was successful, but the most bizarre thing happened. A cut scene occurred where I was risen from the grave by a burnt guy with a yellow robe. That robe wrapped around my head as a Monk's Head Wrappings and I was essentially the boss for that round. I eventually won as I had these yellow orbs of magic shooting at the player. I also had the scraping spear while he only had a sword so I was able attack from behind my shield. It was a really strange occurrence though.

nah its normal for 3-3, sometimes the old monk forces black phantoms to fight for him as the final boss in that world

Hahaha yeah I did it in body form and had to defeat a BP invader for the win on him. Fun times, he didn't drop the funky hat though.

I've had good luck getting to be the Monk's gofer by using the blue or black eye stone by the stairs leading up to the 3-1 boss chapel. Got the hat the first time!

If you win as the BP, I'm positive it's 100% drop rate. I've done it three times and got it three times. Side note: You dont even have to kill them! The other enemies on the stairs usually take care of it for you!

I felt bad, I invaded 3-2 to try and check out the level without having to fight the enemies... unfortunately I ran right into the player right away and he stumbled off the bridge we were fighting on and died. Free body, so I go suicide somewhere I want to turn dark.

I come back to 3-2 and set about trying to get through the area. The Old Monk summons me into the same guy's game, and we have a huge fight that I eventually win.

I'm really glad the Monk summoned someone else for my own boss fight.
