I'm currently using plate armor and I am about to fight the flamelurker. Is there an armor I can get that is almost as good defence wise as plate armor but with greater mobility?
Also, I upgraded my falchion to a fine falchion, is there another upgrade breakoff for the sword?

Depends on your Endurance, but theoretically there isn't an upgrade for your plate armor that will give you better mobility yet better defense.

Honestly, your best bet for mobility AND defense is to buff Endurance and only equip what you have to to fight.

So far I have 15 endurance, 14 str, and 18 dexterity. Obviously I'm going for greater dexterity.

Buff up your endurance if you want to get a heavier armor and keep the mobility. You can get the knights armor on 3-1.

Well... Dexterity won't help your ability to move. Endurance is the only way to go there. Plus it improves your resistance to damaging effects (except plague) and fire.

Alright, thanks! Oh yeah, how can I get that Birchwood armor everyone keeps talking about?

Brushwood Armor: There are 3 ways.
1: Buy it. There's a vendor somewhere who sells it, but I'm not sure where he/she/whatever is. Expensive, but no effort is required.
2: Find it: In 1-1, there is a gate that is closed that branches off to the left of the starting walkway. There will be a hole with a ladder going down. In this hole somewhere is the whole set. It;s very heavy, so make sure you can hold it all, because, once you touch it, it will disappear if you go back to the nexus.
3: Steal/Loot it: Biorr of the Twin Fangs in 1-3 has the whole set! You can kill him for it (or let the Penetrator do the job) or try to get the world to Pure Black tendency and kill his Black Phantom. It will drop the set as well. Remember about the weight! It WILL be hard to move in at lower levels.

I hate to ask you this, but could you give me more detail on its location in 1-1? Starting from the 1-1 archstone, how do I get there?

Hug the left side of the courtyard. There is a stair that goes down after the first Dreggling.

Note that you need to hit PWT or PBT before the gate opens. Also, you will need to fight somebody that you may not want to fight right at that moment if you are trying to do a perfect run.

Perfect run?

Step 0: Get either Pure White or Pure Black WT. It doesn't have to stay that way, just has to hit it (get pure White/Black, go to nexus, once you've entered the worl this way the gate will stay open regardless of CURRENT WT.)
Step 1: Go to the left side of the road. Walk forward.
Step 2: You'll see a path that leads down to a (hopefully open) gate.
Step 3: Explore the area! It's very small. You will also fine Executioner Miralda here (Or her Black Phantom, if in Pure Black WT). The hole with the armor should not be hard to find.
Perfect Run means playing through without dying (sometimes includes Suicides). It's just a personal goal people sometimes try to accomplish.

I don't care for a perfect run, but thanks for the specifics! Today I accidentally found Makoto so I was pretty happy, tommorow I'll try to get this brushwood armor.

Fair warning it is ridiculously heavy. Odds are you wont even be able to run with it on if you don't use the equip burden ring.
