Do you need a specific item to activate hyper mode?

Seriously, if you're going to troll, then at least try to be funny.

If you're serious... I feel sorry for you. Go read the manual.

...I think they are both legitimate questions.

Anyways, according to the DESG, "hyper mode" refers to when you have Morion Blade and Clever Rat's ring equiped so you do a ton of damage, but your HP has to be under 30%

Oh. It's not an official "Hyper Mode". I feel bad for raging now.
I would refer to it as "Glass Cannon" mode myself.

I understand in new game + infinity this is the advised play mode simply because taking more than 1 - 2 hits from even the most pathetic dregling basically means death anyway. It is mostly an archer set up though, I understand with crazy high dex and a sticky compound long bow +5 you can manage ungodly damage doing this.

What level are new game +'ers generally?

I think you just upped my grinding 20 lvls haha, defense increases some even if you don't buff a skill that bumps it.

You can do new games as long as you want. Every time it gets a little harder. However your scaling I have been told eventually loses step with enemies damage scaling and no matter how high level you are they still hit like freight trains. Also after like new game two or three armor becomes basically worthless as it doesn't scale and the bonus you get from it is mooted by the hitting power of the mobs.

As for general level I don't know. I know of people who have beaten a new game the first time as low as 25, I am poised to beat it now and am like... 62? something in there. I have seen posts by others who have been as high as 80+.

Major note!!! The people beating at 25 are major league vets who have like 150+ hours in the game. They do it by simply taking no hits, because in the later levels like 1-4 mobs hit so hard if they land one blow you probably die.

Or "they" just use One Time Revival/Second Chance all the time ;)

Some numbers on NG+ and on:

I end most of my characters at S.lvl 180-250, just because that seems to always be the point were I get tired of them and start a new one. For reference, My S.lvl 195 Royal chick is on her NG+12.

Another thing to consider is the huge amount of souls you need just to up one single stat at too high levels. It get's too just too tedious at 250 for my tastes - you need to run through the whole game just to level up 5 times. -_-

Yeah I saw some vids on youtube by a guy who showed his stat page in his vid... He was like level 650 something and claimed to be on new game+54.

For the record I finally finished up this morning at soul level 76 I think. I got around 10 additional levels just so I could use the white bow, didn't really "need it" but it is the best bow for me right now.
