ok so my main goal is to get the istarelle or however you spell it on my 1st play though...needless to say ive been a perfect little angel, all of my tendencys on the screen are pure and white no bad in the least....besides that 1 place you cant go to, but yet NO white tendency things are available to me, i cant go to the left in 1-1 i cant get the key to let the phantom out of the cell NOTHING....is there something added i need to do to be able to do these things or what?

my advice for 1-1, before you beat the tower knight summon 2 blue phantoms then beat the tower knight if you don't die after beating phalanx you will have a 100%white tendency because everytime you summon a blue phantom it ups your WT by 30% so...

Kill phalanx+30% summon two blues+60% kill tower knight+30% also kill the red dragon for an additional 30% if you die while your not in soul form you lose 30%

Also having a pure white tendency makes enemies weaker black makes enemies tougher and they drop more souls....

To get black you just need 2 die in body form (5-7 times). To raise white other than bosses, you can kill Named Black Phantom NPC (eg. BP Satsuki) & kill the Primeval Demon (both +3 each). Both only appear in Black world tendecy.

I keep hearing about this tendency bug, I havn't moved further because I don't want to test it. While logic says play offline to negate the bug it is just not the same game alone.
Being connected to the demon souls network online makes the game feel less like I am in solitude which oddly makes it more enjoyable being able to seeing little phantoms running around that usually seem to represent a real player. The tips are useful in saving you from a trap that might be otherwise difficult to see to detect, the blood splatters which provide plenty of laughs watching the different ways people can hurl themselves off a ledge and the ever looming threat of having a black phantom invade your game.
that is is while connected with all other players. From useful tips that saved me from a trap at least twice already, little blood stains that let me get out a few laughs from people dieing in odd ways and

defeat 1-1,1-2,1-3,1-4 Major Demon's = 30% white tendency/apiece
Defeat red and blu dragon's = 30% Tend/apiece
Defeat Primevil Demon = 75%
Defeat black phantom miralda = 90%
Revive blue phantom = 30% tend/apiece
Kill black phantom player = 30% tend/apiece

Does anyone know if you can go back and get the special item in the section 2-3 boss room after already killing him? And if so does anyone know of any easy ways to raise my tendancy to pure white, ex. can I get some one to invade me then kill them as a phantom?

Regarding tendency I read there is a bug that will throw everything back to neutral when using evacuate spells & saving / quit in the nexus.

So just to be safe I load up a world first then quit game. And stopped using Evacuate... not sure if those bugs were fixed but I did get wiped once and not sure what caused it.

Seems odd that quitting in the nexus would have any bearing on tendancy but I'll stop quitting out from the nexus. However if anyone knows if I am still able to aquire the item from 2-3 after dealing with the boss that would be helpful.

Yes i'm actually going to work on this tonight, basically you have to make it 100% dark... then go after a certain character that's a black knight now & then kill the primevil demon.

That will net you almost 100% white I believe. To get black just invade a few time and win. Or just die & use eyes of whatever a few times.

there are charts online, basically if you're neutral you have to die 3 or 4 times (have to be in human form to detract) and get 100% dark.

I'd then leave and make sure it's pitch black. Return then as spirit so when you die it doesn't detract after you've earned white points.

You do have to at least kill the "dark NPC" and pimevil demon in 100% black world at once. Otherwise it'll shift one way after you leave to go back to the nexus and one will disappear.

WHich I was going to make a thread about this but I can't yet.

The Dark NPC in 2 - 2 in a 100% dark world... the guide says kill him first them the Pimevil demon in 2 - 1. It's not possible to do this though without losing all the soulds collected from the 2 - 2 person (aka would have to die and respawn losing the souls).

Can you kill the primevil demon first and then the Dark NPC??? And i'm pretty sure I didn't spoil anything....

yep each specific one appears in certain areas on the maps when light or dark.

2 - 2's happens to be in the crystal lizard plain mid way down the drop part when you branch to the right :frown:

Well I love that part of 2-2 I just hated trying to find my way to the boss. Btw I believe that if you kill another player who invades you as a black phantom your white goes up. I just got invaded a few minutes ago and my wt shot up a bit, I think that if I could find some1 to invade me and let me win I would be a pure white. So if anyone around my nooby lvl of 35 wishes to give me a hand just hit me up on Psn and I will be happy to do the same for you.

Then I decided to explore 2-2 a bit and after getting lost in the tunnels for about a half-hour when I finally got back to where Patches is I noticed the framerate was taking a big hit so I saved in the tunnels and reloaded the game.

After the reload the framerate was fine again so I went back to the Nexus and prepared to go fight Miralda but when I get to the gate I find its closed (I know it was open before because I check after getting PB WT), I check my tendency screen and both world 1 & 2 are now neutral tendency when I didn't do anything to raise it in either world.

Dunno if this bug was present in the Asian versions of the game, hopefully they release a patch sometime soon to address this.

I don't recall where the post is on the forum but another person found a article relating to WT and online play. Basically if you play online the online "average" WT will randomly effect your WT. This makes it almost impossible to stay pure white or black in any one world for any length of time. Like I said, the only "safe" way to manipulate WT is in offline mode.

This isn't true.

WT has nothing to do with you being online or not. I did a perfect play through my first game and was online the whole time. BP invasions and sumoning Blue Phantoms will change your WT absolutely.

If you want to do the WT events all in one playthrough you have to play in soul form so you can't get invaded the whole time and not summon any help. Those events will screw up the tendency.

What you need to do is:
Die in human form until WT is black and play the world in soul form. Your WT won't change until you go back to the Nexus. It won't take more than 6 suicides in Human form to get it there.
Kill the BP NPC and Primeval Demon WITHOUT ever going to the nexus. This will get you to 70% white.
Go to the nexus and suicide. This way if you die at the boss you wont lose any white.
Kill one boss.
You will now be at 100% White WT

Since always staying online I have seen things like pure white Boletaria, took out miralda got that item downstairs, use archstone to return to nexus, clear 4-2, use archstone to return to nexus, go to boletaria, oh whoops it is neutral now and my gate is closed?

All in one play session, no body form deaths, no bp invasion, no using archstone fragments or evacuate, no quitting in the nexus. However when i play offline this never happens even when I have body form deaths in other worlds, use evacuate, quit in the nexus overnight, so on so forth.

what can I do in basic 1-1 to up my WT, I just unlocked the big center door and I don't want to not be able to go back.

I want to open the executioner grounds? to the left of the 1-1 nexus portal as to get the branchwood(sp?) armor, but I don't think my WT is high enough.

Also, the thief is supposed to be when you jump down to save that guy. I didn't see it, will it still be there if I returned to the nexus?

That's because Executioner Miralda is a GOOD player who happens to be hostile towards you. Killing her is a black WT event!

Humm... as far as WT this is how it works i think
for example:
1. start stage with neutral wt
2. beat major demons or doing anything that shift towards white wt
3. check your wt and it will still say neutral
4. return/evac to nexus, check your wt it will be shown there
5. so in conclusion after doing stuff that effects wt you should have to return to nexus to have the changes takes effect.

and also i found out that if you logged off/quit in the area that are modified (to black or white WT) you wont have any changes (i kept my stonefang tunnel in black (not pure black yet) for 2 days now)).

Offline mode however is the best bet if you are doing the whole WT run thingy... since invasion from BP can heavily effect your WT (they might kill your NPC or you mighta killed BP and shifted your WT)

I have the strategy guide and have read the events pretty thoroughly, which is how I know these things.

ddh4ms, the only way it would still stay neutral is if you died in human form along the way. Also, like I said, summoning Blues, defeating invaders, and invading yourself and defeating a blue phantom helper will also change your WT. You don't have to play off-line. But, you do have to play in SOUL form.

I like soul form better anyway, it's more challenging and some items can only be used in it. i.e., friend and foe ring.

Ok, so the more you die.. the worse off you are? If that is the case.. then that explains why I thought the enemies were becoming a little tougher. Can someone clarify this? I'm new to the game btw

Thats odd because it has no effect on character tendency so I don't see how it would effect world. Meanwhile when doing my offline tendency work I killed her, did a helluva lot more than visit one world, came back maybe 5 hours later, and the door was still open. I even died body form later on in 1-3 and it remained open.

Meanwhile re read my post. My world went from absolutely pure white to flat neutral no white at all. That is a 50% shift. Which takes more than 1 WT event to happen, even killing Ostrava is only a -40%. Now you expect me to believe killing a HOSTILE NPC is a greater shift than killing Ostrava?

Meanwhile the very same strategy guide you know so well says plain as day in black in white simple English. Do not manipulate WT in online mode the only safe way is in offline.

Like I said, I followed the guide and was able to do everything in On-Line Mode. I stayed in On-line mode because I like leaving messages and checking how people died for kicks. As long as you play in Soul Form, you will never be invaded. I'd use a ephymereal stone and immediately jump off a cliff, so it was never an issue.

But, you are 100% right the events you said don't make sense and I apologize I didn't pick up that your WT went to Neutral. That shouldn't of happened. You are also right about Miralda. That should have effected your CT if anything. The book does say to not kill her in PWWT and get your friend's ring first then go back and kill her. It also says that about Master Satsuki in Pure White since he challenges you.

Maybe it didn't effect me since I followed the guide in exact sequence and never left a world to do something else.

Question. Does killing the major demon's in body form give you any bonuses towards white tendency?

No not from my experience. Killing a major demon sould form gives all the same benefits as body form. Of course body form you can summon friends which makes the white shift more potent.
