Hiltless?

I was looking at the strat guide and noticed it says you find hiltless in a special area after defeating the tutorial vanguard, I have looked all over and had no luck, is it just me or what? where is that thing?

Also...Atlus my guide is 3 days old and looks like it is 50+ years old...poor craftsmanship...lol but I cannot stop playing the game, even though I have been on flamelurker for about 3-4 hours i haven't quit untill now when i got on here, but still trying in between post!

IIRC it's IN the room where you fought Vanguard. I wouldn't worry too much about it; there's more than enough ways to obtain it and chances are you won't use it anyways.

where? lol I cannot ever find it i have beat him close to 7 times and i always go straight to the dragon god but once i looked all around the vangaurds room and ran back through the tutorial.

i found some crazy woman with a dull axe before but i was so low level that i when i hit her it wasnt even moving the bar....i could destroy her now but i cant get back there....but that may be where they are talking about....its in 1-1

if thats where it is, u can summon me if you want me to bust her for you, i need to get back there and i need the tendancy

if you get summoned it doesn't help your WT, World Tendency only afects the world your in, so when you get summoned to another players world it does nothing for your world, but when you summon others it helps your world

I can't really remember where it is but I thought you'll get it in the very same room were you fight Vanguard.

I'll go kill Vanguard and check it again... will edit this post later.


EDIT: WTF?! I can't seem to find it anymore... strange.

In other news Ice Pick is talking about Miralda the executioner. The execution grounds are only open when your WT is high white or black. If you want the axe it needs to be black in white she only drops her armor which guys cant even use.

What i found funny just now is that my little brother got the Executioner's Axe as a random drop from the axe soldiers on 1-1. I guess he needs it being a barbarian but i couldn't help but go "WTF?"

IMO not even worth it, you'll find one on a dead body anway right before the boss in 4 - 2. on the right wall in a nook in the lake... the "light" room, you'll know when you enter lol.

I think your guide is wrong, there is a Gripless Katana behind Vanguard but that is on stage 4-1 not the Tutorial. Sorry, got that wrong it was the Uchigatana.

I have to admit, he's right. The official guide DOES say that. And I quote:

"Stage 4-1, defeat Black Phantom Master Satsuki. Stage 4-2, corpse in Giant Slugs' cave. Tutorial, found in special area after defeating Vanguard."

That's odd. I personally wouldn't use it in the beginning, or maybe even at all, but I'm still curious where you would find it. If only because I want to know how I missed it.

I think your guide is wrong, there is a Gripless Katana behind Vanguard but that is on stage 4-1 not the Tutorial. Sorry, got that wrong it was the Uchigatana.

This. Uchigatana is behind the vanguard in 4-1. Nothing but healing items and souls are found after vanguard in tutorial. Well, besides an awesome little area.

I found a Hiltless.

I've already beaten 4-1, saved that vendor (Don't know his name, he sells cloudstones), went into 4-2, suicided and revived a few times to turn the world Pure Black. Went back to 4-1 and found a Black Phantom waiting for me as soon as I enter. This guy is brutal. I was Slvl69 at the time with Dark Silver set. Over 70% damage taken if I don't block properly or mistime a roll. He must have over 1500 health. When he uses a grass, it's a full heal (annoying haha).

After fighting this BP NPC for 30 minutes, he dropped me a "Hiltless" which does an incredible amount of base damage (135 I think it was) but the special notes on it said that the users also takes damage.

I like the area because while most people say that their first death was getting hacked to death by some minor bloated demon with tiny useless wings and an axe, my character, on the other hand, had to be PUNCHED IN THE FACE BY A DRAGON GOD TO DIE

I am refering to the walkthrough because obviously it is a typo from atlus or there is a hiltless there, i know i can get two more later in the game but i want to know where that one is...also i am not looking for uchigatana or makoto

It is a katana in the game that is called... "hiltless" because it has no sword furniture. To a person who doesn't know japanese swords that makes no sense I know so think of it as having a handle without having an actual handle.

It is a little different in japanese swords. Holding a european sword without a handle and actually using it is pretty much impossible and that wiki entry is definitely discussing european swords. That isn't the case with a japanese swords because the blades are (obviously) made differently. You can grip and use one without a proper handle, obviously you don't want to though if at all possible.

Yes, DEFINITELY NOT there. I have tested this on both Asian & US versions, NO Gripless / Hiltless in the tutorial stage or just after...

I don't ever remember where I found the blasted thing... And why is it considered so good? The simple fact that it damages the wielder can be catastrophic against high-hp enemies.

You can get it after beating Vanguard in the tutorial and I know this as I have gotten it exactly once after the tutorial in the Asian version. The only time I received it was after a PERFECT run through the tutorial. Perfect = 727 souls collected without receiving any damage from enemies (you will take a bit of damage from the leap). It will (if I remember correctly) be located on the remains to the left of the entrance after you port out of Vanguard's room.

Edit: OK, I just finished running through the tutorial as Royalty zapping everything with soul arrow and took zero damage from enemies: no hiltless. Either it was a coincedence in my prior game and hiltless is a ultra-rare drop or you need to melee the enemies without taking damage.
