View Full Version : World Tendency? (and another question for more experienced players)

I remember reading a bit about world tendency before the game came out. Something about the actions of the player and other players can affect World Tendency. Now, I've played for a good 8 or so hours, and my world tendency for all worlds is the same as it was when I first made my character....

So... is this a bug? Or am I doing it wrong? The article I read said that the world tendency would change enemy spawns and stuff.... but nothing's changed. If there is a way to fix this let me know, I'd like to make the worlds a bit harder.

Also, after playing 8 hours I haven't come across any talismans. I'd like to begin casting healing spells (started out as wanderer, put Faith to 10 so I could check out some miracles) but I have no clue how to actually get a talisman. I usually like to play through a game at least once before I ask people where hidden goodies are.... but I would really like to start fiddling with miracles to spruce up my character. So, would anyone like to at least hint me in the right direction?

To change WT towards pure white: Defeat bosses in body-form preferably with 2 blue phantoms on your side, that should pretty much skyrocket your WT to pure white after killing 1-2 bosses.

Defeating Black Phantom invaders shifts WT to PW too, but that's not really effective seeing that you'd have to kill a good 10 BPs to even see a slight change.

To change WT towards pure black: Die multiple times in the same area with your body / suicide in body-form multiple times.
Killing a "good" NPC shifts the area the killed NPC resides in goes towards PB too, by a good bit.
Invading games and successfully destroying your target shifts it too, but this takes a bit too long too. Best and quickest way is to suicide in body-form then revive using SoEE, suicide again, rinse&repeat.

Finally, by killing a "Primeval Demon", you can shift your WT towards neutral again. NOTE: Primeval Demons are only available in PBWT (pure black world tendency)

As for the talisman... Depending how many areas you explored, you already missed two of them. One is in 4-1 and the other in 5-1. Look harder, they're not hidden and both lie in almost plain sight. ;)

Aha, I haven't been to 4-1 or 5-1 yet. I just checked 4-1 out... lo and behold, God Talisman.

Thanks a bunch for both your answers.

The guide displays proper percentages and what events unfold depending on WT. Adding to what ZomDizae suggests, your actions with NPCs could also affect your WT. Example, killing residents in the Nexus grants you a darker WT, but if you help Ostrava out in the first stage you get a whiter WT.

I've noticed that my World Tendencies reset whenever I quit the game. Others on various websites such as GameFAQs have noticed the same thing. Is this a bug? I have defeated two bosses in world 1 with the help of Blue Phantoms, but I still don't see any change.

I've been trying to figure out why my new character started the game with different levels in different tendancy states. I have never once entered level 2 or level 3, but both have distinctly different appearances in the tendancy indicator screen.

Also, level 5 is darker than I'd expect. I have died a few times in soul for in this level (ONLY soul form), could this cause a darker tendancy?

Nope. Only deaths in Body form count. What do you mean by 'darker'? The level itself is pitch-black.

Darker means closer to the so-called Pure Black Tendancy. It appears darker on the tendancy indicator screen (the screen with 5 statues). Also, I beat the Tower Knight in soul form and it appears to have made no difference to the tendancy, as I have the same HP when starting all levels. Shouldn't I have higher HP in a level with white tendancy? Or does HP change only occur for dark tendancies?

I don't have the strategy guide, so I'm not sure where I can turn for information. I see arguements here that the wiki isn't reliable, and even if it is reliable it indicates that there are problems such as world tendancy being reset to neutral at random times.

I'm open to suggestions as to where I can turn for information?

Sory for double post. I did find some sources of information, but it seems there are still many questions about the American version.

I defeated the 4-1 boss with 2 blue phantoms helping, and the white tendancy for world 4 went up, so much so that Satsuki showed up.

I defeated the tower knight in soul form, and saw no changes in the world or the tendancy tab (from the start menu). Does defeating bosses in soul form raise white tendancy? And how do soul and body forms compair when it comes to the amount of change in tendancy.

As for character tendancy, how do I change it? I have been in soul form much of the game (have never died in body form anywhere but the nexus). I have been a successful blue phantom for other players from time to time, but it seems to make no change.

You can try the guide in the link below, but he is trying 2 do everything in 1 run.

Killing bosses in soul form should raise white tendacy.
No difference in Body or Soul form, but dying in Body form puts WT 2 black.
Note that for Wt 2 change you will need 2 return 2 the Nexus before it will change.

To get your CT 2 black, just kill NPC (King Doran large shift 2 black). I killed King Doran & 2 other NPC's in the Nexus & got pure black CT.

Wrong. If you kill a boss in body form, the WT will rise more than if you kill him in soul form.

It seems body form comes with many advantages, and yet many risks. Do I have to go to NG+ to play through a second time with my same items, or can I play again on regular difficulty?

Considering this is DS, I probably must do NG+?

Hi... I was wondering if you Quit the game and Load the game again will the WT stays intact? or will it goes back to neutral state?

I have seen it go back to neutral several times, regardless of where you saved the game (my sources inform me that in the Asian version, this only happened if you saved in the Nexus). I've come to believe that this is a glitch that happens frequently.
