I played for about an hour today, didn't get far in the first area but I have 2 demons Pixie and Nokko.

So far everything about this game is great! The soundtrack is amazing although a little rough at some points due to the DS. The story as far as I can follow is great. The art, of course, is fantastic. Just about everything is perfect and tells me that if ATLUS USA isn't allready localizing this right now they'll start sometime this month.

I need this in English though, it's a Cero C game, so the Kanji level is adult and my level is around Grade 1.

This game makes me cream in my jeans (and I'm wearing slacks ?!!?)

Atlus already started translating.
They are just waiting for me to tell them to leak it to the ESRB.

I tried it too, last night. Didn't get very far, but everything seems so nice and polished. The battle system feels great, and the music is very atmospheric and unique. I love it. Atlus will definitely localize it. I'm sure. And when they do, I'm expecting them to throw an OST in the package too. ATLUS, SPOIL ME PLZ

How did you get a copy?

I always "try" games to decide if I'm going to buy them or not. If you catch my drift. I also do the same thing while waiting for a domestic release.

...

Y'know, maybe you should think about where you are before you talk about things like this... and, no, I'm not interested in debating the ethics of it, I'm only talking pragmatism.

Anyway...

I'm really excited about this game, now! :D I mean, I already was, but hearing that it's everything it should be is definitely encouraging.

Quick question: is Magnetite indeed gone? I mean, it should be, given that the Schwarz-verse is a demonic realm, but I wanna be sure.

We catch your drift. The next time you discuss this, it'll be a temp ban.

I didn't. DamageCity asked a question, I answered it.

EDIT: And what the heck is wrong with you all? I buy every single Atlus game that I like, as I do with everything else. If a game isn't good, why should I waste my money on it? For god's sake. Stop being so hypocritical. I just came here to comment on this awesome game, a game I'll buy FOR SURE when it gets localized. And DamageCity, how did you get a copy? According to Gamefaqs it shouldn't be out until the 10th of October.

The release date is October 8 (today).

Also, anyone can get a copy here (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9g-49-en-15-strange+journey-70-3ja9.html), for example.

Ok, but still, there's no reason to bash me. I did nothing wrong. I will buy the game, as I did with countless other titles, so all those comments were really out of place.

Stop being so stupid.

Do you honestly think that you can mention this on the official company website and get away with it? You're lucky you've been warned instead of outright banned like the last guy who was fool enough to talk about illegally downloading Atlus games.

For God's sake, you could've at least had the sense to lie about it...

Now, why don't you quit while you're ahead, take the advice Inzaghi has so generously given you, and shut the #### up?

As I said, I didn't say a thing. I was asked a question, and I just answered it. To hell with it, I'm outta here. Enjoy yourselves.

You said, you "tried" it when there's no demo. Then you said "if you catch my drift." These aren't the subtle weasel words you think they are.

Ok, now stop talking about me, or I might feel important. Go back to discussing Strange Journey. Even though no-one has played it yet.

DamageCity actually lives in Japan, where the game is on store shelves. Further posts in this thread not about impressions of Strange Journey will be deleted.

The soundtrack to this game is so insanely good I almost want to buy the soundtrack, allthough I probably won't.

Well maybe if I stumble upon it for a good price.

Hmmmmm.

I also saw the guide for 1400 yen in a Yodabashi camera but it was really thin.

Is the soundtrack sold somewhere? I really really like the music. And I mean really. I guess I'll search on ebay!

How is the game cast as a whole?, I understand you don't have full understanding of kanji, but you seem to be able to pick up on most basics.

As you can imagine it's heavy on dialoge but I've managed to get a few demons. Everything is great it's like Aliens meets... meets... I dunno Shin Megami Tensei? The atmosphere is great, just about everything is great, the only problems I have with the game are from the DS limitations.

I'm guessing we will probably see in master guide in less than a month maybe?

Hopefully, I'll probably hold out till then.

A couple of things about gameplay though. There is no strafe and when you press the down button it turns you around instead of walking backwards.

I get the feeling there could be some Event Horizon type stuff going on too, could be wrong but i get that feeling.

If you're a Shin Megami Tensei veteran it shouldn't be much harder than Nocturne. Then again I'm not that far into the game, so who knows.

Is the game over when MC dies or when everyone dies? I'm just curious. I don't have any qualms either way, though it'd feel a bit strange if it's not MC dies only.

I'm about 2 hours in and so far nothing. That being said, it seems like everytime I complete a mission somthing is being added to the DEMONICA that enhances the gameplay so it's possible they will do something eventually.

Haven't died yet :D

So far it's pretty standard allthough if you are looking to import the kanji level is painfully high.

Just wanted to point out that you can strafe by holding down the "B" button while moving, and that "L" and "R" cycles between the party status menu and the the demon analyze menu when in battle, and cycles through the different floors of the current dungeon when exploring.

Also I pretty much agree with everything Damage City has said so far. This really is an excellent title. I'm only as far as Carina, the third dungeon, but if the game remains as good until the end as it has been so far, it may replace Devil Summoner Soul Hackers as my favorite MegaTen title.

From what I understand, the game ends if the protagonist dies.

So how's the fusion system? Any kind of newer conveniences as seen in Devil Survivor and RK vs KA that would make the whole process... much less about shuffling for a not insignificant percentage of time in your playthrough of the game?

While I can't find the source right at this time, but it is definite, you're allowed to fuse demons at any time.

This is from gamefaqs:

Translation for page 2:

I have never heard of that demon fusion can be so much fun!!

Keyword 1: More than 300 demons for summon and exchange
The fusion system has been improved even players who are afraid of difficulty can enjoy. The extensive references to deities from different myths such as Greek, Egyptian, Hindu, and Chinese would prove to impress players who are into mystery and occult. The illustrations of Kaneko is also another attraction. There are demons that can only be obtained through special fusions or password exchanges, a lot of perseverance is needed to perfect the demon compendium!

Keyword 2: Fusing demons anywhere
In the past SMT, players can only fuse in a facility. In this SMT, fusion can be done anywhere! This system works smoothly with the increased amount of demons, because one can fuse the demons away right after recruiting them. No more coerced return to the base; fans' dreams finally come true!

Oh, there's a strafe. I think you hold B then press left or right, or something.

While demons can inherit skills, you can't pick and choose skills for demons to inherit like in Devil Survivor. However, demons in your group sometimes give you demon sources when they level up, and you can use those during fusions to have the new demon inherit the skillset of whichever demon source you're using.

Like, using a High Pixie source will give your new demon kaifuku booster, media and medirama, resulting in a very good healer, etc.

Incidentally, no amount of shufling seems to change which skills a demon inherits, so whatever inherited skills you see in the new demon's skill list are the only ones they'll get via that particular fusion combination.

EDIT: Forgot to add that you can also buy demons you've already fused and/or recruited from your Devil Dictionary, like in SMTIII. You can also enter passwords to get new demons (including some secret demons), but you have to pay macca for those as well.

Demon source items sound kind of cool. Shame you won't be able to shuffle to get what you want onto them in addition, though I guess this makes doing definite fusions for "Ultimate" demon setups easier in the long run. Are Mitamas and Elements in as well?

Devil Survivor and Raidou vs King Abaddon have had the best fusion rules yet, though, I'd say.

Just wondering does it have any continuity?
from Nocturne,SMT I and SMT II, I've heard that it is SMT IV though it was not titled that way due to appeal to international gamers. Any subtle references and/or game storyline continuation?

Not that I've seen so far, but I'm only at Elidanus Sector, the fifth dungeon. So maybe later on?
