View Full Version : I keep hitting the Square button on accident...

Other action games have ruined me.

I'm so used to mashing square button to attack (as in DMC, NG, GoW, DW, etc.) so now I'm just wasting items.

I've needlessly used COUNTLESS herbs of varying types and functionalities, and even threw a firebomb into nothingness where it landed with a quiet *kersplash*.

Yargh why did the "item use button" have to be the same as every other games' "light spammable attack"

Anybody having the same problem?

Easy fix, stop hitting the square button.

Hahaha yeah for the first hour or two I was doing it a little but but never horrendously. Glad to know I wasn't the only one :)

Empty one of your quick-slots and then use that for [ ] button until you get used to it. That way you won't be eating precious herbs or spices during a fight :)

This reminds me just too much on my first playthrough... -_-

This is a great idea! Although, through the nature of the game, I'm sure you'll get that hang of it in no time.

The same exact thing happens to me! at least I died so many times in 1-1 that I had like 40 herbs... but still.

The empty slot sounds like a good idea.

The problem with the empty slot idea is that the game automatically assigns any usable item you pick up to your next empty quickslot, so it's impossible to keep it empty without always go back & forth to switch out stuff in the menu...

Only once. For example, if you free up a slot, and then pick up crescent herbs, it will fill the slot, but then remove it and if you pick them up again in the same level, they won't (90% sure of this).

I know that goes for any item you pick up and it can get tedious, but it's only a temporary solution, plus it's better than getting skewered like a hog by a red knight whilst eating herbs, when all you wanted to do was slash :)

Oh didn't know that... too late for me anyways but thanks (^_^)

You aren't alone, I did the same thing about 5 time. I've also had to get used to a few other buttons, but I'm getting the hang of it.

I hope I don't do the same thing, I just finished playing Wolverine Origins, where Square/Triangle were the main attack-keys!! lol

Hahh, lucky for me I'm primarily a shooter-type gamer, so L's and R's are stable for my buttons of 'attacks' and square is good for 'reload' :D :D :D

Ha! Yeah, me too! Thankfully I have about 50 weeds on me at a time, so it's not a big deal if I accidently down one every now and again.

Yeah, I do this constantly. Slowly getting over it, but even after I killed the reflex, there's still some perverted little part of my mind that seems to want to hit square even more now that I'm telling it not to. Oh well, crescent moon grass is a dime a dozen and I try to remember to make sure that's what I have selected by default.

I stand ready at the edge of the bridge looking at the large castle wall lined with 2 archers and i see the dragon swoop down blow a torrent of flame along the bricks, I sprint forward to avoid his next pass and arrive at the portcullis manned by three archers and an intimidating looking knight, a powerful swing of my falchion puts an end to all three archers at the same time and I feel the blood rush to my head as i lock my attention on the heavily armored knight, he thrusts, narrowly missing me as i dodge back, i move forward swiftly intent on striking and deathblow and.....I cram a bunch of grass in my mouth as he shoves his sword through me like a toothpick through an hordeuvre and my dreams of reclaiming my souls resting near the tower knight spill out onto the ground with my organs.

........F*** the square button.

Glad I'm not the only one who's stuffing grass in his mouth right when he'd rather be shoving steel in something horrible's gut.
