Okay, so I've been having this problem... When I die while in soul form, when I respawn back where I came in, I'm no longer logged into the network. Is this supposed to happen? I can't leave any messages, see anyone, or anything like that... And in order to log back in, I have to quit my game and come back, which fixes everything until I log back on. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

Psh, you're lucky. I can't get into the online portion of the game at all. I played for maybe an hour in the online mode, but now I can't connect whatsoever.
Sure, the game says I'm online, but I can't see any blood stains, ghosts, or hints. I can't leave hints either.
Fun, huh?

If you try quitting to the main menu and coming back in, that seems to fix it, it's just annoying to have to do that =\

Same here. I'm guessing its just launch day woes. Maybe too many people on the network?

It's not that I can't connect.. It's just that when I die, I respawn and I'm suddenly not connected... and the only way to reconnect is to quit to the main menu and then load my game again, I just wanted to know if there was something I could do about it?

when i had some issues with the online in this game (the import release) i found that putting the ps3 in a DMZ on my router cleared them up.
it's not too hard to find out how, depends on your router though. in this case i assigned my ps3 on basis of MAC address so it is never firewalled or anything by my router.
anyway it helped me so could be worth a shot!

Thanks, I'll give it a shot! =D
Also, I think I should mention, that when I am connected, everything runs fine, there is no lag when playing with others... Just when I die I get disconnected. I'm still logged onto the PSN, I can still check messages, see my friends, and what not.

I am still logged in to PSN but I cant seem to stay connected to Demons Souls. I was playing online fine earlier. Now I am having trouble. Any ideas besides the DMZ? Could it just be a server issue?

I'm thinking it's something to do with the server, or a glitch of some sort =\

Its only happened once so far and the game saves your location when you are booted from the online portion.

Same thing happened to me yesterday, but I noticed when i was playing on the later EST (about 1am), it stopped happening, so I'm inclined to believe more copies sold on launch then they predicted, and that this is the route of the problem.

i noticed lots of lag during the boss fight in 1-2 during online. i also got a lot of "host left tht game" type of messages when summoned as a blue phantom. it stopped at around 11pm est though. maybe i just got unlucky with a few hosts.

PSN 'was' down for maintenance and such today as far as I recall, and maybe yesterday for Europe there were problems.
Maybe people are confusing it with then.

I had this same problem, I solved it by using an old fashioned ethernet wired connection. I played with everything from port forwarding, mac addresses and disabling the firewall. None of that has worked as of yet.
It seems to a problem with router settings not the playstation or the DS server.

I notice a lot of the times the sessions tend to end when you are fighting the high demons, which sucks when you are pummeling into them.

My online works cause I can see the messages, bloodstains, blue soul signs and etc. However I cant summon or become a blue phantom nor have I ever been invaded. My signal strength is good too(80-100% and Nat Type 2) and still can't access these features, least the game is fun without them:)
Also online worked for KZ2, MAG, & Uncharted 2 and still does. I had no problems with those games online but this one and Fat Princess are giving me troubles...Could this be Peer to peer?
