Rumor's going around it's being delayed till the 10th.... It's only 4 days so I'm not exactly going to lose any sleep over it lol. But it'd still be nice to know what the deal is. Can we get some official statement?

Could be delayed for any number of reasons, they do have to reprint it it's not like they are just buying Japanese copies and reselling them....and they could run into any number of problems along the way (shipping, bad prints etc).

there is a thread in the gamefaqs forums with 6 or 7 people saying that gamestop has pushed the game back to the 10th of course that in no way means it is true it would be somewhat odd to have a delay so soon.i have checked dates at seberal retailors they all still state the 6th as of now.

Namely this part: Because this is a major release for Atlus we are shipping a metric poop-ton of Demon's Souls, everyone's favorite soul-crushing action RPG for PS3, in preparation for the game's release on Tuesday 10/6. The quantities are larger and less manageable than a typical Atlus niche game release.

I just got off the phone with Gamestop, told him there was a rumor that gamestop pushed it to the 10th, he said the computer screen shows it is 10/6/09 and he said that is corporation wide...I told him to double check cause I will be mad if it gets pushed back, he laughed and said, and I quote "No man it is the 10th...but realy it's the 6th I am looking at it right now, anything you need?" said nope and hung up...not sure why you were told the 6th

Because they receive their games the day after they are released because the game gets shipped out to them on the 6th.

Why is everybody getting pissed at Gamestop? They get the games from the manufactorer. It isn't there fault that the orders are getting delayed. If Atlus would have had a cut-off date for the Deluxe edition (like Dragon Age:Origins) then it would have limited the the amount of Deluxe editions that were order-which is probably where the problems started at. More people probably preordered the Deluxe edition than they had initially planned, so they had to manufacture more Deluxe editions. Now, how does this translate to GameStops fault???

ahhh! i can answer this one! my friend chris is the GS manager here in MD, he also had no idea that there was a DE edition, mostly because the sku has been removed due to the fact that it is a limited release. like say if i went in and canceled mine, and then an hour later i wanted it again they wouldnt even be able to pull up the sku again.

The lady tha said that there was not a DE was a tool. They had a huge discussion when Atlus showed Demon's Souls at their manager convention in Vegas, and received posters and stuff. I don't even care anymore, if I don't get it on Tuesday, then I hope they have a midnight release for the game on the 10th.

I am glad I planned to preorder two copies anyway and did one as amazon release day shipping just to be sure. Honestly you guys are probably getting your chains jerked by the clerks. Gamestop isn't taking any more DS DE preorders and that is why the SKU is gone. The people working at thier "central office" or whatever it is that number calls are not gamers. They are people working for gamestop who don't know everything there is to know about games. Which is why they have never heard of the DS DE.

I actually had mine pre-ordered though Game Crazy. Saw this thread, so I called my local Game Crazy to make sure they were still good. Apparently, they were, but they're closing.. So they aren't getting it in at. I called the local Game Stop, who not only were having the 10th problem, but not taking any more orders on the DE. So I ended up going with Amazon... Which means waiting an extra day, but it's worth it. I wanted all the little extras, including pre-order items... So I had to do that quick. Thanks closing Game Crazy =\

Good thing I decided to go with Amazon over Gamestop. I had a wishlist going on Gamestop.com... Had the DE on the list, checked out my wishlist to see what I still needed to buy. You know, seeing how gamestop is like the only one that is reporting this, I doubt they would actually push the date back to the 10th, just so they could get more copies in. They would lose sales doing this, while everyone else would just get it elsewhere.

Just saw on PSU.com, a post talking about Demon's Souls and how Atlus said that those who got an early copy, that they would not be able to play online until the 6th. This being posted earlier, had Atlus really pushed it back I would imagine that post would be saying something very different.

I got mine from Amazon, because, well, if you live in the US, there is almost ZERO reason not to just buy from them. They've never done me wrong, whether I'm buying gifts, books, movies or games. So I try to be a loyal customer. Regardless, what did you folks really expect from Gamestop?

This is a unique situation. A ton of demand for a rather small, virtually unknown product that wasn't even on their company radars. Demon's Souls isn't ODST or Modern Warfare 2(Grenades of Duty). Of course they screwed it up.

Either find a good, small game store to give your business to, or find an online vendor that treats you right. With all the gas I'd spend driving around to buy whatever I want to buy, I can just get Amazon Prime for a year, pre-order what I want, and have it on my doorstep the day of release for FREE SHIPPING.

I'd be willing to bet that the answer is very simple. You see, Gamestop has to stock a large number of highly anticipated titles, especially this October when there are tons of Triple A titles being released. Compared to ODST, Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend and the upcoming Modern Warfare, Demon's Souls is a very small and relatively unknown title. As the release date for Demon's Souls draws nearer, word of mouth continues to spread as a bevy of positive review scores start pouring into magazines and internet sites. More and more people want the game, but Gamestop has only ordered so many copies of the game, and only set aside so much room for the expected demand. It's likely that they've been surprised by the increasing demand for the title, and have therefore been forced to delay their pre-orders in order to be sure that everyone gets what they paid for.

That's my two cents.

My friend who is a manager at a Gamestop location called Corporate. He also got the DE so he was pissed when he heard this as well. Anyway, corporate told him that it was a computer error, and that they will get the game on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on when the manufactors ship it out to them.

Well, I went to my Gamestop and the guy working there (one of my friends, and he's also waiting for Demon's souls~) said that the reason it's not listed on the website anymore (the Deluxe edition) is probably because they stopped taking preorders, I guess it's because they didn't order enough copies? idk.....

I also asked him when it's coming out and he said the 7th! I don't mind having to wait another day ^w^

I'd be willing to bet that the answer is very simple. You see, Gamestop has to stock a large number of highly anticipated titles, especially this October when there are tons of Triple A titles being released. Compared to ODST, Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend and the upcoming Modern Warfare, Demon's Souls is a very small and relatively unknown title. As the release date for Demon's Souls draws nearer, word of mouth continues to spread as a bevy of positive review scores start pouring into magazines and internet sites. More and more people want the game, but Gamestop has only ordered so many copies of the game, and only set aside so much room for the expected demand. It's likely that they've been surprised by the increasing demand for the title, and have therefore been forced to delay their pre-orders in order to be sure that everyone gets what they paid for.

That's my two cents.

If thats true, would stores that have enough copies be able to sell them on the 6th?

anything BEYOND Oct 6 is just misinformation. Like for example, Gametrailers.com had Demon's Souls listed at OCTOBER 27TH.....until I made a 'complaint/support' thread in the forum asking if they could correct it so people aren't misinformed, lol.

Most of the time, retailers get shipment a good while-before the release date, like, look at me....I got my PS3 Slim on Aug 24th, rofl. Yet it was meant for a Sept 1st release.

hey guys i got good news. it was a mistake gamestop is still receiving on the 6th but they arnt doing midnight sales due to lack of promotions. so it will hit shelves on wednesday on the 7th yay!!!11 kudos to me!

I called gamestop HQ the rep I spoke with said there is no difference between release/street date she said the release date is just when It hit shelves, and that Gamestop should actually have it in stores before Oct. 6th but the developers won't let gamestop "Release" it untill Oct. 6th.

I don't think its exactly "stupid" on gamestop's part. After all, everyone knows Atlus is a niche publisher. They most likely order based on past sales of a publisher's product, and only increase the order if the pre-order is more than their allotment.

In theory yes Eskol just remember the man sitting in the office far far away that never has to deal with face to face sales or customer interaction and the poor SOB stuck behind the counter often times have different realities. What is true on paper doesn't always hold up in real world mechanics.

If you want to be sure beyond and doubt just call your Gamestop on the 5th and be cool. "Hey man I got DS on preorder paid off and everything but I got alot of things I need to take care of tommorrow so I was wondering if you guys have it in store yet or if it wont show up until you get the tuesday shipment? I just want to know if I could get it earlier tommorrow or should put it off until the afternoon."

This time though for us Canadians, it looks like we might not be screwed over this time for the release. My one friend who works at EBgames, she said that most if not all stores are getting shipments either before the 6th, or on the 6th.

So a 6th or 7th release date seems pretty likely for this game this time. So far the only way there will be a delay is if the shipping for some reason is late, or delayed.

I also saw some people claiming they work at Gamestop/EBgames saying they just got in their OST's and Artbooks.

Eh, I disagree with you on saying its the same as any other multiplayer experience.

I typically dislike multiplayer in third person shooters, or first person shooters. I maybe try it out for an hour or two, then never touch it again. Though Uncharted 2 has some thing about it when it comes to the multiplayer that I just love and enjoy.

Also, Gears of War didn't start the entire cover system to let you know. Kill.Switch and one other game utilized a cover system, though yeah I can't deny it does take elements from other games but it feels so polished in each element to me.

On a side note that is ontopic, I think this entire delay business is completely null void now. Seeing people are getting the game now, and all stores have said it was just a computer error.

I never said GoW did, its name just fit so perfectly, and it did popularize the style of play, even though it isn't even remotely original in doing so. I remember a number of games using cover systems all the back to N64. :P

So meh, I couldn't get into it. The single player might be different, but supposedly it's only 10 hours. I guess I'm odd like that. I'm sure it's a good game for those into the genre, but I'm very, very picky about shooters.

I work at GameStop and yesterday our computers said the 9th for the release after previously being the 6th, and then today when I went in it changed back to the 6th. So I am pretty sure it was just a computer error.

Um, Jet Force Gemini did it ten whole years ago. Plus, it had a flying puppy. A flying puppy that could use a grenade launcher, and rides around in a puppy-tank. You cannot beat that, no matter how fancy your PS3 graphics and control schemes are! =X

And to the guy who called Uncharted "Gears of Indiana": The only thing Gears of War had was the shooting. The gameplay worked well, but since there was nothing else than the shooting I thought GoW kinda sucked. Uncharted used that cover and shoot system and made it a part of the game, instead of just make the game revolve around it. Also, the atmosphere is pretty good.

I always thought the shooting aspect of Uncharted was to compliment the platforming. (which is superb)

If 8-bit baddies are shooting at you, and you run around a corner and their bullets hit the wall, isn't that "covering" too? :P

More than likely the answer is either no, or very very little. The same is true with Uncharted. I like COD multiplayer on hardcare, sneaking, sniping, run & gun gets you killed, play on no bunny hopping servers, etc. So if that is the type of multiplayer shooter I like why am I going to bother with Uncharted's multiplayer? Meanwhile the games story mode while cool is reportedly crazy short. If I can beat it in 10 hours then it would just end up getting the same thing I gave Arkam Asylum, Gamestop trade in treatment.

America loves to shoot and blow things up lol. No, i'm joking. . . well i guess its kind of true, but FPS games are just fun. They have re-playability, huge online communities which equals to always being able to find a game. i never really played CoD:MW much other than a little at my friends house, but i heard the story for single player was pretty good. So, a lot of people are excited about the story continuing. My comment on CoD:MW could be wrong, but that is what i heard.

Thats the problem with gamers you aren't asking the real question. If it isn't broken, doesn't need fixing, and it works bad ass as is.... Why are they making a sequel to it and why are you buying it? What you have already works fine so why do you need an upgrade and a replacement for it? I could understand if the single player were long and epic... but we all know that it isn't. Explain to me how it doesn't fall under the same rules you have Uncharted under?
