I've heard that there is an NPC named Yurt that you can release from a cage of some kind, and that he then proceeds to start murdering off all the important NPCs in the nexus. I'm curious about a few things. I heard somewhere that this had to do with Mephistopheles? I was also wondering if it's possible to kill Yurt at a low level and to take his armor/items/weapons.

He only drops his armor, I don't think he ever drops the weapon which appears to be a Shotel (found in 4-1 I believe). I could be wrong though. I do know he always drops ALL of his armor minimum.

But yes, if you can get to 3-2, he's really easy to kill. I always prefer to let him go, and then proceed directly to the nexus and kill him there. You get two free souls (two bodies appear when he first goes back but it's not any of the NPCs IIRC). That way I don't have to risk having him fall off the platform and then have to load the game and hope his armor pile will be there.

Be warned, 3-1 is a m*#&*&# of a level if you've never done it before :)

In this case it isn't a mystery. You free him, all good, return to nexus.... two dead bodies? It doesn't take a genius to connect the dots on that one.

I think he means the mystery that this is a spoiler...this is the spoil rich board :D

The bodies don't appear immediately. It can take the completion of a few bosses before they start appearing, from my experience with one of my characters.

That and the OP named his thread "Yurt - Spoilers".

You've all misunderstood me - he hasn't spoilt it for me, obviously. :P

He's ruined the surprise for himself by reading too much about the game before he's even got a copy.

Oh ok heh. I figured there was something strange as I've seen your name before speaking of the game with a profound knowledge.

Well, in a sense, I'd rather have Yurt spoiled than my precious NPCs killed off in the Nexus :) But that's just me!

Please disregard all previous posts in this thread.

I wish only to say that the man known as Yurt the Silent Chief is no enemy of yours. He is your friend and fights for freedom.

That is all. Please ignore the bloody Shotel next to me and the fork-like appendage on my helmet.

About how long after your free him does it take for him to appear in the Nexus? I freed him last night and died down in the swamp but I haven't seen him in the Nexus yet.

For me, he was hiding on the second level. 2 corpses appeared after my 2nd trip to the nexus after I freed him. Thats when I killed him.

He usually appears after you have defeated a couple of bosses. Then you will start noticing dead bodies on the Nexus, that is Yurt's way of telling you that he has arrived.

Also, while i think Yurt's armor is cool, I have the stupid collar things on his armor. Ugh.

I lost Sage Freke to Yurt. It definitely isn't obvious if you don't read the guides. I've put a "liar" and "use backstabs on the next enemy" messages in front of his cage. I then killed him by luring him up nexus stairs and pushing him off, just to spite his mean face.

It's for reasons like the above that Demon's Souls has no voice chat.

He showed up in the Nexus for me after I killed the boss of 3-2.

Also, in my game he only killed Freke and Urbain's apprentices. He never killed anyone important before attacking me on sight.

You got very lucky on that one.

Last night I finally got around to going through 3-2 and I let him out. I then returned to the Nexus later in the level, but Yurt was nowhere to be found. I returned to the spot in 3-2 and Yurt was still there, walking around. I decided I would try using God's Wrath to kill him since I haven't used that spell much at all. I use the spell and it sends Yurt flying into the abyss, and he dies, luckilly I was able to load the game and get his loot.

Like others in the thread said. He won't go to the nexus until you kill the boss of 3-2. Just like Ostrava will stay in a zone until the boss is dead there.

Be warned. Kill Yurt or he will dispose of your NPCs. I waited until after I had completely finished world 3 and beat the 4-1 boss before finally checking in. Only when I realized that Freke's assistant, Urbain's assistant, and the Miracle selling guy were gone did I finally figure out that Yurt was killing off people...

I was fortunate enough not to lose anybody too important, like Freke...

I'd not yet solved 4-2 for quite some time after having freed Yurt from the cage, at which point he just wandered around on that platform endlessly. I'm guessing you need to beat the boss for Yurt to appear in the Nexus.

Well, last night, I decided to off him. I did a backstab, he fell off the platform, I subsequently died elsewhere on the level, got back to the platform after a few tries, grabbed his armor, and then went back to the Nexus after the next time I died (it was getting late anyway).

My question is, my WT for 3-x has slipped pretty far toward the black. I was very near PW, and was hoping to get a full PW in order to get through that closed-off passage in 3-1 on the second floor. Now, I think I've pretty much screwed myself out of that. Is there another way later to gain access to that area without having PWWT? I really wanted to free the blue phantom in the cell and grab that glowy stuff on the other side, but it looks like I might no longer be able to until my second cycle.

Not only that, but the enemies in the swamp that were giving me a decent amount of problems before (enough that I've entered the swamp area of the level upwards of a dozen and a half times, and have yet to beat the boss, let alone open up the shortcut, wherever THAT is) are now significantly more difficult (no surprise there).

So, did I screw myself, and should I just forget about this character (my main) and play with one of the other two I've made and barely used?

As for the Knight in the cell, all he gives out is a Rat's ring. I was hoping for some armour..... I don't recall glowy stuff though..I could be wrong though. I remember it felt like a waste of time to me....

There are two ways to you to get to Pure White from the Black you are at. One, make sure you get to pure black by getting killed in 3-1 or 3-2 in Body from. Rinse and repeat. When at Pure Black, kill the Black Phantom in 3-1 and the Primevel Demon in 3-2 without returning to the nexus. After you killed them, go back to the Nexus. Then, go and kill the 3-2 boss and you'll be at PWWT.

Secondly, play online for a while. WT online is communal online - Give it a few days and you'll be at Pure White.

actually that didn't work for me(i was doing area 4 though). i got to PBWT, killed the phantom and the primeval. went to nexus, came back, killed the old hero boss, went to nexus. went back and did not have PWWT. i had to kill the archdemon as well to get it.

That is the case in all worlds. Did you get killed in Body form or play online? That would be the only ways this did not work.
