View Full Version : Will Walmart.com receive the preorder bonuses for Demon's Souls?

Walmart is listed as one of the retailers offering the preorder bonuses on the official Demon's Souls website. However, I looked at the Demon's Souls description page on Walmart.com and did not see the art book and OST listed, so I called customer care. The representative I spoke to said that I would have to call Atlus (but Atlus does not have a 1-800 number). However, he did mention that USUALLY preordered games come bundled with the preorder bonuses straight from the manufacturer. So, will it?

If Atlus lists it on the pre order page as one of the supported retailers it should have the items. This is Wal-Mart we are talking about their gaming section is not something they are "focused" on. So it wouldn't really surprise me if they just forgot to list the pre order items.

Alright, thank you. Finally a valid response. I wonder why a lot of the video game companies don't have 1-800 numbers?

^Extra cost.

Now, if only Walmart.com fixed their "Site to Store" glitch...

Like Kakizaki said, there's the extra cost for the line. On top of that, pretty much every major cell phone provider has a "no long distance within the continental United States" policy, so paying the fee to serve an ever-dwindling minority wouldn't exactly be cost efficient.

Sometimes it's hard to actually find a video game company's phone number. Atlus was one of the few that was kind enough to actually list it under their "Contact" section of the website. Others require you to do snooping in 3rd party areas.

EDIT: Well guys, it turns out Walmart WILL NOT be getting the preorder bonuses. I just looked at the private message I got from Inzaghi and he said:

"I asked, and no, Wal-Mart will not be getting the preorder bonuses for this title."

which is disappointing considering how it lists a bunch of retailers to order from on the official Demon's Souls preorder website with "PREORDER BONUS" directly under them. Way to go, false advertising.

Some companies don't actually want you to call.

EDIT: I was wondering why they would list all of those retailers including Walmart on the site made specifically for preordering, all of which are offering the preorder bonuses, EXCEPT for Walmart. Doesn't make sense and is a huge sign of false advertising.

Some companies don't actually want you to call.I'm new to these boards, so I'm going to have to assume that you are the only admin who doesn't take his job seriously.

Serious? On the Atlus boards? Oh god, the world is ending! Quick, someone make a funny, if we don't act fast all of space-time will crumble before Demon's Souls finally comes out! :O

(What are you even getting at, anyway? The Admins here are cool, because they aren't robots. At least, I don't think so. If they are robots, that's some awesome AI.)

My fault, disregard what I said here. Inzagi's correct.

Some companies don't actually want you to call.

As a year year vet of customer service and sales I can verify the "Some" in this sentence is highly exaggerated. It is more like "Almost all".

I am still confused. Why is Walmart listed on this website (http://www.demons-souls.com/preorder.php)? What is the purpose of listing Walmart as a place to preorder Demon's Souls if they are not getting the preorder bonuses? As for those of you who are bound to tell me to preorder elsewhere, I have some online-only gift cards that I would like to use on this particular purchase.

The lists of participating retailers there is not for the "pre-order", it's a list of retailers where you can "purchase" the Deluxe version (upper) and the Standard (lower). The text above each batch of links doesn't say, "Pre-Order to get exclusive goodies from these retailers!"

That page is telling you benefits of pre-ordering, which are multiple, and some of which Walmart is offering, like the ability to reserve your limited copy of the Deluxe Edition. One of the benefits is the pre-order "bonus", which Walmart is not offering. They still belong on the page.

^In other words, they are just trying to cover their asses for poor website design.

Stay civil, please. We've been honest and timely in our responses to your questions and would appreciate a respectful tone in return.

Well, I just spoke to another Atlus rep. and he even said that it was deceptive and that it was poor website design on their part. Ugh.

Edit: No such thing happened. I sit next to the guy that took your call.

Look man, this is, what, your FOURTH "chill the heck out" warning today?

I can understand you making the mistake the first time reading through the site, what I can't understand is you refusing to let it go for some unknown reason. You interpreted the site one way. It was incorrect. It still is incorrect. Now you're upset simply because you're incorrect? I don't get it. Maybe the web designer will throw some text up on the site so it's less confusing to you, but at no point was this ever "false advertising" no matter how much internet rage you have in your body.

You'll notice any threats of banning you, and and all of which you would have fully deserved, have been absent up to this point.

That's no longer the case. Learn how to check your emotions. Now.

being a walmart employee for only 6 months now, I know in OUR store, the lead in the tech department even throws away 'special edition' dvd slipcases, I imagine since this content is much more combersome they might be smart enough to bundle it with
