English news: Siliconera (http://www.siliconera.com/2009/09/29/shiren-the-wanderer-4-settling-on-ds/)

Huge (Japanese) preview @ 4gamer (http://www.4gamer.net/games/099/G009973/20091009014/)

As seen in this week’s issue of Famitsu, Chunsoft is developing Shiren the Wanderer 4. The upcoming title tweaks dungeon design by adding elemental traps and a day/night system.

Dungeons are more difficult to explore in the dark, literally, and contain stronger monsters. Chunsoft also gave monsters aura abilities which temporarily power them up.

Spike, not Sega, will publish Shiren the Wanderer 4 in Japan this winter. Probably 2010 winter. It also looks like Spike is handling all of Chunsoft’s future titles. They just brought 428 to PSP and PlayStation 3 and have Extreme Escape: 9 Hours, 9 People, 9 Doors in the pipeline. Hmm… I wonder if that means Shiren 4 has a better chance of being localized. Atlus has a good relationship with Spike since they’re publishing Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble and are working on localizing Shiren the Wanderer 3.

Does it have a story like Shiren 3?

Oh it looks fantastic! Shiren the Wanderer on Ds reignited my deep love of dungeon hacks. I have been obsessed with the series ever since. Atlus is so amazing for bringing Shiren on the Wii over! Hopefully the impossible can happen again in the case of this game.

I'd support this.

Shiren looks like he's wearing a fancy 1950's swimsuit, and that cowboy girl looks like an over interpretation of an American. Almost as bad as that chick in Bushido Blade 2.

Do want though.

1+ Support.

Though I'd really like to see Shiren 2 for DS first so we have the whole series.

Even though I had my roguelike crash course with Izuna, I'm ready to travel with this Chunsoft OG (no pun intended).

Shiren DS2 is a remake of the spin-off Shiren GB2. This is a new game, hence why this is Shiren 4 and not Shiren DS3.

Please bring this to the States.

If Atlus could supply the options they're giving for the Wii version, then I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I expected to hate the first game, but wound up loving it despite some of its faults; loved it enough to buy a Wii for the Atlus port.

I would love this in the US, it's a bit too expensive to import.

Please release this in English. If only you knew how big the eastern Shiren fanbase was. I think English speakers deserve to enjoy this series just as much as everyone else.

Would love to see this, I'm sure it'll depend on how well Shiren Wii sells.

Shiren the Wanderer for the Wii happens to be region locked so this is the next best thing as far as I am concerned.

I just bought Shiren the Wanderer and Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer recently and would love to be able to add this to my list of great Shiren titles. I loved the DS version of Shiren and this looks like it is twice as good. I love the new features and the island setting as well.

I really hope that someone decides to the localize this (I would love to see Atlus do it because Atlus rocks and I'd love to support them further). I don't see why someone wouldn't though, if the VGCartz numbers for Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer are any indication (160,000 copies) then there shouldn't be any reason not to localize it here.

Hopefully it will make it's way over here sooner than later. I am grateful that Shiren the Wanderer 3 made it over here though, at least I'll have something to chew on between Shiren 3 and Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer while I'm waiting *fingers crossed*.

The best way to get Atlus to bring this over is to purchase Shiren 3 for the Wii! I think these games can do well despite Sega's best efforts to destroy the series potential in the US.

Yeah, I have been playing Shiren the Wanderer on the Wii like a madman. If Atlus were to localize Shiren 4 I would buy it in a heartbeat, no doubt about that at all.

Besides, it's not like Sega is going to again, perhaps, perhaps not but I just don't see them taking the plunge once more. I think this next game also has the potential to do a lot better than the first Shiren on the DS due to the new features and the slightly more kid friendly vibe it has going for it (from what I can see from the commercials and the official site).

C'mon Atlus, you know you want to :P

It would fit nicely next to my ugly Shiren ds case, and my gorgeous Shiren 3 case. I want it so bad!

Yes, Atlus. More Shiren, please! Having a half-complete series is kinda bad, you know!
