About Demon's Souls
King Allant the XII, the last king of Boletaria, searched tirelessly to expand his might. The Nexus, a great ice shrine nestled in the mountains, bestowed the power of the souls onto him, bringing prosperity to his kingdom. Still unsated, he returned again to the Nexus, where he foolishly awakened the Old One from its eternal slumber. This long forgotten evil, now wrought upon Boletaria, plunged the realm into darkness and fog. A mighty demon horde poured into the kingdom, devouring the souls of men.
Champions from other realms learned of Boletaria's fate and sought to deliver the kingdom from evil; none would return from the cursed land. Called upon by a mysterious maiden in black, you go forth, the last hope for humanity in a place lost to demons and darkness...
Key Features
•Ultimate hardcore RPG challenge -- In this brutal land, death is inevitable, but not final. Combining the best features of an action game and RPG, you'll slice, smash, shoot, and ensorcel some of the most horrible, vicious enemies ever encountered. Are you strong enough to face the impossible and win?
•Groundbreaking online capabilities -- Network features go far beyond any previous RPG, allowing players to leave hints for each other, replay death scenes, cooperatively revive dead players, or invade another player's game to wreak havoc. Not merely an add-on feature, multiplayer options are vast, and uniquely focused on changing and intensifying the single player experience.
•Freeform and flexible -- The open-ended structure of the game means that there is no single path, but rather a wealth of options. Set your own pace and progress as you like. Build exactly the character you want by creating a detailed avatar, nurturing the right stats, and customizing your skills and equipment.
•You act, the world reacts -- The World Tendency system changes the aggressiveness of monsters and the rewards for killing them based on players' actions. Different events and NPCs may be triggered, as well.

EDIT: Also why is it that a lot of your videos only have sound coming out of one channel?

Same Here :D
Anyways, after watching this vid I'm very glad I pre-ordered this a second time, definitely got rid of my skepticism towards the strategy guide; depending on its content I still think I won't need it after already putting hundreds of hours into the game but, and that's a very important thing for me, it looks beautiful and has style. Great work Aram, thank you Atlus - and guys, keep an eye out on FROM's upcoming stuff, they're on a roll, I don't know much about the publishing business but... keep an eye out. ;)

You mean like that dot game? I hear Ignition and Atlus are both duking it out for the publishing rights, hopefully Atlus gets it.

Yes, 3D dot heroes would be an example. But I think in general, now that Demon's Souls shaped up to be a success, I'm sure we'll see an other entry in their "dark RPG" series. Or maybe a successor to their adventure series "Echo Night"? Surely they won't stick to Armored Core only for their HD products...

Very nice ARAM, looking forward to playing Demon's Souls soon.
That was intense. I half expected the box to rip an arm off, since you know, this is Demon's Souls. It can't let you open it easily.

Hilarious, and sexy.
I am going to whiff EVERYTHING when I get my copy! Even the discs.... Then I shall whiff the Blu-ray drives' slot as the game gets inserted inside my PS3, as it warms up.....spinning and becoming warm....I will whiff the intense pleasurable heat of the games warmth radiating out of my Slim beast, unto my nose and face....

He may have the same fetish but boy does he manhandle the wares...I cringed every time he peeled back the instruction pages and sorta tossed it aside.
That said, LOVED the Vanna-like presentation...it was quite elegant with his hand gestures, LOL!!

I prefer it keeps going the same way it does, it makes it easier to show what publishers care about their product level of quality over others.
In an age where companies are trying to pass off digital content as pre-order bonuses and stuff is just ludicrous. There is nothing more annoying than seeing some type of pre-order content that only took some designer to apply a new color filter over the model (in cases of a different color suit/weapon/etc)
They have come so cheap that physical goods are just out of the question, the most amusing thing about this is how Atlus a smaller publisher, is willing to dish out the money for these. However, it could be because they either understand that niche gamers like us prefer physical goods in pre-orders because they do themselves. I imagine it cost more for Atlus to do this, but I think its worth it.
Seriously, if Atlus ever went that digital route, I'd probably wouldn't pre-order anymore and just get the game when I can, rather than turning the house upside down looking for spare change to pre-order a game.

Ya the digital pre-order stuff is indeed a joke. I have a gamecrazy and a gamestop within 1 block of me and I go to gamecrazy and miss out on all the pre-order bonus's from gamestop for the simple fact that the employees at gamecrazy treat me as a valued customer, friend and the gamestop employees see me as a walking $ sign and can care less . You made a valid point and I hope other companies take note of what Atlus is doing here.

:D I love the pre-order stuff I got from atlus already, especially my Raidou plushie that came with Devil Summoner 2... Man I can't wait for Devil Summoner 3!!!
I just recently found out I had a gamecrazy nearby (more like 7 miles away), lol. I should go there today and check it out. Might be nice to look around, but I doubt I'd start ordering from there since I use Amazon with ECA.

Just remember it isn't Gamestop the company, it is Gamestop your local store. My local Gamestop every employee has pre ordered DS and if you mention it to them they smile and encourages you to buy it. They give me pre order items for games I don't even pre order if I buy it and they have extra. If a person comes in and says they are looking for a new game and they like RPG's and RTS they dont tell them to buy Halo 3. I guess I am just lucky with my Gamestop store :P

One of my many numerous GS around here is like that, one guy there is an SMT fan. On that note, SMT games DO NOT last long around here. Seriously, they day they put it on the shelf, is the day it disappears.

I don't think Atlus is doing that on purpose. There is probably some sort of release system that all the publishers follow. Most likely to even things out, as well as not put so much strain on producing the games. I think Sony is the only one that can make the game discs, since they also have to approve them.

I think that in this case, it's about seeing what you're gonna get. I mean, we've all probably seen the static pictures of the game itself and the bonus contents, but in the video you get to see them handled, take a quick flip through the book, and generally get a better idea about the quality and size of the items being offered. Considering that many of the people following the american release of this game already have the original import, and probably bought this latest version in part because of the extras, I don't think the video is a bad thing, or silly per say.

You had to pre-order the game to get the bonus art-book with attached soundtrack... and then you had to wrestle your local retail game store to get your pre-order bonus.
I chose to go through Amazon. Painless as always, and the art-book/soundtrack was shrinkwrapped together with the case.
GameStop screwing up my Knights in the Knightmare pre-order was the last straw on top of a big pile of shenanigans.
My conversation with them, after putting $10 down on Demon's Souls Deluxe.
Me: So, I'll get that art-book, right?
Manager: Sure, as long as you come in right after we open our shipment. Those things go fast.
Me: ... then why am I pre-ordering here?
Manager: So you'll get the game when it arrives.
Me: But only if I get here first?
Manager: Right.
Me: I'd like to cancel that...

You were right! I had to call five different EBgames store in the area until I finally found one that put the artbook and cd on hold for me. I honestly expected all of that to be bundled in with the deluxe edition but thankfully i've got them now after wrestling it from these bastards!
I promised myself that after this and MGS4 I will never preorder anything limited again and I may yet break this promise with God of War 3... but it really is absurd as you described in your conversation with them :)

Sinds i,m new here but not new to the gaming world so to speak i was tracking Demon Souls for sometime, must been said i own a PS3 aswell as an Xbox360 and if it wasn,t for games like Uncharted:Drakes Fortune or the highly awaited Killzone 2, most of us PS3 owners had a bit of a sad time. Lets be honest were microsoft were pumping out one "xbox360 only!" game after another PS3 owners had not much exclusive titels for their console. But with games this month like Uncharted 2 Among Thiefs and this highly awaited Demon Souls Sony,s PS3 finaly got some new great exclusive titels now!
This as an introduction! I realy looked forwarth to this game as i like RPG games and also 3th person games. When i heared about this for the first time i almost coudn,t wait untill it finaly would be released. But as i,m living in europe and we guys here using the PAL system and not like in america or japan the NTSC system i could not order an import version then. Later thank god i learned that this Demon Souls Deluxe Version actualy do work aswell on my PAL version PS3! I realy like the unboxing video as for once you realy see what you getting for your money! Funny that he smells on some of the stuff thats something i do aswell sometimes, nothing beats the smell of a new bought game so to speak haha!
I still waiting for my copy of the Deluxe version and as i,m writing i,m kinda expecting the game here tomorow. I hardly can,t wait as i just called my games retailer about the deluxe version as in the video he clearly tells the artbook with music cd will only avaible as an extra for people that pre-ordered it! But i,m more then happy even i not pre-ordered it that i still get the full package!! So i get the deluxe version plus artbook and music cd!
I must admit i was a bit worried about some game reviews telling this game is hard and you die alot! But even its still worth it and its great, must be to judge this game gets so many great scores from gamesites and magazines!
Well i let you all know what i think of the game once i got it and played it!:D

Sounds very typical to be honest i hear this alot from my friends in the US. Its also kinda odd as you expect when you pre-order it they make sure everyone gets the pre-order bonus aswell.
But from what i know retailers only get a certain amount of these "Pre-Order Bonus" adds. So most of them will handle in this order of " Who comes first gets it and who comes last might be unlucky as we just run out of stock" kinda way. I think its not the retailers faulth they sometimes have to handle this way as their stock is limited and they kinda have to do with what they get from the guys that handing out these to the different shops and retailers
What i do think would be in order that retailers and on-line shops inform their clients that supply of the pre-order bonus might be limited and only goes to the people that ordered it first! Thats in most of the times sadly enough not the case! I only seen it once here when people placed their pre-order that they would get their pre-order bonus when they go to the shop and only to those that come early as stock was limited! So at least you know were you standing. I wish more retailers would handle it this way so we gamers for once being well informed.
P.S. About the artbook and the cd!! I,m living in europe and if you have an retailer that import games chances are good at this moment you get the Deluxe Version Plus Artbook & Cd! I just got a call from my retailer that i get the full package! So just look on internet and so if you be able to finds an retailer near you or just order it on-line direct from a shop in the US.

flip side to that is, the employees at these retail stores will steal the bonus gifts to sell them on ebay.
they'll leave a couple for the customers and take the rest. so it ends up being in "very" limited quantity available.
You hear this happening quite alot...
I think GS HQ decided to try something different to see if they can prevent this with the artbook pre-order gift with BlazBlue.
It was only available for online orders.
anyway, I think other retailers should follow suit in what Amazon is doing.
pre-package any and all pre-ordered orders with the bonus gift with the game like they did with DS.
whole point of pre-ordering is to 1) guarantee a copy on release day and 2) to take advantage of the pre-order gift.
I think, to entice the consumer, to guarantee sales in release day, is what the game companies had in mind when making up pre-order gifts... not to fatten dishonest game retailer's employees' wallet...
they need to rethink the way the pre-order gift is distributed to the customers.
oh, and incase you are wondering, yes, I did get my pre-order gift. So I'm not bitching. Just think it's not fair for people that went out their way to pre-order so they get the bonus, to end up not getting it.
