I looked at a calender today and noticed 13days untill I am crying for mercy! I am just a little nervous...should I be worried about BP's invading and feeding my the tip of their blade? I mean I am obviously a noob as I have never played the game, but I know of alot of importers on here that will be getting the NA version which mean you guys were warming up to slay some noobies...can I stop BP's? without disconnecting the cable and if they kill me do they leave?

BP's cannot invade you unless you're alive to begin with. As a newbie being alive is not very likely. Not only that, you wont have a chance to even get your body back until after area 1-1, so you'll have time to adjust to the game before you'll even be able to have invaders come your way.

If you are alive, there's not much you can do to stop them. If they're in your level range, looking to invade, there's a chance you'll be the one they come after. If they succeed in killing you, you're dead, and thus it's once again impossible for anyone to invade your game. Plus, if the invader kills you, they get their body back, and can no longer invade anyone. So yes, they're gone if they kill you, and they can't come back. They likely wont return even if you kill them, since invaders cannot choose their target, it's all randomized.

If you're super paranoid once you get your body again, look for blue soul signs wherever you go to invite backup. Three on one will usually help, at least a little.

Best thing to do is trying to get ahold of a "Graverobber's Ring" + "Thief Ring" ASAP, equip both of 'em at the same time while in body form and as soon as the invasion message pops up, hide and go for quick and dirty backstabs.
Even if it sounds dirty, this is still considered fairplay unlike signing out of PSN. Mostly because stealth kills are also a part of the gameplay and no one will have a grudge against you just because you play "thief".

The other solution would be to just use the white-eye stone or "banish" miracle to banish a BP out of your world. It's a bit lame, but it's fair and the right thing to do if you just don't have time or don't want to fight.

Don't worry about it, really, it is just another death and it will help you learn and adapt to pvp. No matter how good you are, your gear is, etc, as long as you play online and actually dont run from every BP you will get killed by one sooner or later. It isn't a big deal it is just part of the game. If anything it is a learning oppertunity. Maybe they used a weapon combo you didn't think of, maybe they ambushed from an area that you didn't expect but will now, so on so forth.

Personally I am looking forward to it and getting a chance to gloat over the dessicated corpse of Junktown!

I wouldn't worry about it:
First of all: Your going to be in body form, meaning you have more HP then the invading BP in soul form.
Second of all: You can call for help
Third: They are within your level range, so even if you're a noob, you probably have a fighting chance.

I can't start my own thread but I was just curious does anyone know exactly what they changed? Did they just improve the dialog? Did they do anything else to the game itself? Also is anyone else worried about the game population? What if you go to invade someone and no ones on your levels or near your level? What happens?

What's odd is that I'm actually anxious for the NA version even though I've clocked in 150+ hours in the Korean version. I'm looking forward to playing again, this time trying out a different build/strategy. There are so many build options, playstyles, weapons and armor in this game and they're all so different. I'm also looking forward to going online with the new crowd :)

Yes this is true, some of the English in the other versions was Engrishy so that will be fixed. The voice over dialogues are going to be untouched since they already are perfect for the game.

1. i heard that the online is just a mere auto match and you cannot even party up with your friends....is this true?

2. (for those who imported like i wished i had) i plan on starting with a wanderer or a thief but i wanted to know how good the caster classes are and if the spells are really good as compared to a melee based character

3. any really good tips or tricks to know your 1st time through?

1: Om my god do we need an online functionality sticky. Co op is not auto anything. A soul form player drops a soul sign and a living player within their level range sees it in their game and summons them. If you coordinate with friends via chat, phone, texts, etc etc it is easy to set it up so a friend summons you or you summon a friend. PVP is auto match making but you still can only invade people within your level range who are alive. There is also dueling much later on which works exactly like co op, you drop a sign, someone summons you then you duel.

2: Every starting class has it's advantages. There are enemies that are easier to beat with spells, there are also enemies that are resistant to magic, every weapon and every spell has a time and place to use and a time and place to not use. There is no one "right" way so play whatever suits your style best.

3: Get used to the concept of dieing but treat it less like you getting beaten and more like a chance to learn something.

4: Short answer, no. Unless for some reason you just have to wear a female or male only item and are the wrong sex.

5: Short answer, yes.

1. It's NOT automatch; while Demon's Souls' co-op system's point is to team up with strangers just for the short moments you need help(or want to help someone else), there's still a way to set up a co-op session with one of your friends but there's certain requirements to be met.

2. Mages can pretty much burn anything down in two hits, IF you know what you're doing and how to customize your character.
That being said, I support your initial plan to start out with a wanderer; very cool class. Keep the mage for a second playthrough. (-_^)

The law says they can not sell it until tommorrow and it really does piss me off when people talk about how their friend from wherever or their "mom and pop" (I don't know how mom and pop stay in business considering the helacious competition) store does it. If they can't follow the laws they shouldn't be allowed to sell the games.

If you are one of the lucky massive minority who gets a game early for whatever reason also do your gamer buddies a favor and don't tell them about it.

I can tell you for a fact that as soon as GameStop has a shipment of games that aren't street dated, they are shelved and sold immediately. This game does NOT have a street date in our system, and therefore will be sold as soon as it arrives, tomorrow or wednesday.

If any GameStop DOES get it today, then they would have gotten an email from corporate telling them not to sell. Seeing as how I work 20 minutes from the #1 store in the company and am only 30-40 minutes from the distribution center for Texas, I would've heard if we had it in any store by now, and probably snuck myself a copy just to drool (metaphorically) over the rulebook. I already have my artbook and CD for my preorder, those shipped a few days ago but can't be given out to anybody who doesn't have a reservation.
And to that point, wait until you pick up the game, don't go asking for it now.

In any case, be happy if you've got it.

And as for selling it early being against the law, as I've pointed out time and time again, there is no STREET DATE on the games, meaning Atlus never went to GameStop and said "Do not sell before this date" or that the volume of players is low enough (which admittedly, it is) to justify loading up in preparation for a bunch of people who didn't have it preordered.

There's no law against it, but if Atlus had told GameStop to not sell and they did anyways, then Atlus WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE to file a lawsuit against GameStop, the store location, and the employees who sold it.

To that effect, Halo 3: ODST had around 100 preorders at my store, but we were shipped over 200 and sold out 2 days after release. We've got maybe 3 regular and 1 deluxe edition preorders, so we'll be getting maybe 5 copies in.

And I neglected to say this earlier, but with the 3-5 titles we have that are street dated for the 6th and already have in the back, we just might be getting Demon's Souls arriving tomorrow in a box with more of those in order to keep the SD titles stocked.

WE ALL will just have to wait and see. I work tomorrow and don't get home til 10 at night, so lucky me if I get it then, I'll still have to wait.

Normally I can't actually talk about what titles might be in the back, but seeing as how they're not anything you'd want to raid the store for (The Biggest Loser video game *cough*) I don't see a problem with it.

Awfully long speech there bud considering I only briefly mentioned Gamestop. It does amaze me how Mom and Pop, Amazon, and Game Crazy can all get it faster than the largest video game distributer in the entire world though. Also someone already posted in another thread over the whole release date delay fiasco that they called your corporate line and your customer care people there said there is no difference between a "release date" and a "street date". As we all know the release date of Demon's Souls is 10/06/09. Meaning anyone selling it before that is clearly violating what Atlus has posted. Not that I think Atlus will be hounding them over it.

So either the poor SOB at the counter is being force fed a party line that isn't really true or your corporate lackeys have no idea what they are talking about. Experience tells me it is probably a little of both. Regardless the call went out as mentioned by many already so we know that Gamestop will have the game at some point tomorrow. Knowing my local place and the UPS/FedEx guys that means between 12am and 1pm.

By the way if you think you have it bad I live within 1 mile of the UPS depot for my area and it takes them almost 12 hours to get an item they load on a truck there to my house. Which is why I always go USPS when possible or FedEx in a pinch.

Well that does suck. Maybe you could order something to the address of the UPS depot and say Attn: Your name and pick it up yourself the day-of.

And it's assistant manager by the way, sold plenty of games that ended up arriving 1-2 days before the suspected release date and had no repercussions about it, but still hanging under that deadly axe if I even speak about a street-dated game being on the premesis before the day it's released.

And seeing as how GameStop hours are set at opening 10am, it'd be pretty hard for the UPS guys to get it there any time before 10am and 1 pm. Seeing as how this time varies with how many deliveries they have to make that morning and at which point you are on the list, 10-2 like I said before doesn't seem too much of an exaggeration.

And as far as the lawsuits go, one store broke Halo 3: ODST street date when they got the shipment in and Bungie actually said they would ban anybody who connected to the servers before 9/22. The only way to be unbanned would be to give them proof of purchase (which of course, names the employee who made the transaction, along with the store's address and phone number at the top of the receipt).

Actually UPS (at least here) are jerks on the management level. I once had a PC I ordered that I requested no signature on delivery for because at the time I worked 2pm - 10pm and I knew I would not be there to sign. UPS decided to ignore me and determined all on their own a signature was required. I called and asked them to deliver on the weekend since I didn't work then? No, we dont deliver then. Deliver in the morning? No, we do not change our delivery schedules ever and we can't promise it. Let me pick it up at the hub so close I can hit it with a rock? No, customers are not allowed on the lot. Can you stop holding my package hostage please? No, we will deliver it to a UPS store an hour away and you have to pick it up there.

End result, like I said, if I have the option of anyone else I do not do business with UPS. Even if it means my shipping costs more.

I do admit the A in the 12am up top was a typo I missed though. You will just have to trust me when I say I know (give or take an hour) when my Gamestop of choice gets it's deliveries.

I can confirm that gamestop does this. While I don't work at gamestop, back in November 2007, while I was waiting for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, the game wasn't street dated in their system. So I ended up getting the game on friday when it wasn't to be released until tuesday. Of course that event did seem to be a hit or miss because some people were able to get it, and some not at their gamestops.

i think your just in to big of a rush lol dont realy blame you but my walmart doesnt have it in yet an most usely they wont have them out or in till 12 at gamestop anyway

i actually dont plan on dying that much....i tend to adapt extremely fast, and generally do well at most games atleast.....we should make a ongoing legit death thread where people just edit daily or so with how far they are in how many deaths so we can see the avg and the best

I think I'll get a notepad on the way home tonight and write down souls lost from double-death.

I don't expect my count to be low at all, I'm going to start out with a barbarian, only wear gear that doesn't reduce stamina regen, and go with fist weapons.
Rollin' and dodgin' all night long. Oh, and cheap shots to boot.

Of course if I die too much and get frustrated I'll just go with a straight-up temple knight tanker.

Don't get overconfident Ice Pick thats the biggest single mistake you can make in DS's. I have already seen reviews by guys who laugh about how easy Ninja Gaiden 2 is (a game most think is hard) who played this game and got owned, severely. I plan to not die alot too and I am quite good at this type of game as well... However when I say not a alot I mean I hope to clear it my first time in less than 50 deaths but I wont be stunned if I take more than that.

As for the USPS dude in question, call your regional bosses and rat the guy out. They are not doing their job and should be called down for it.
