When I first played the game one thing started bothering me, Yasogami High School is huge! and itīs suposed to be a high school in a rural town like Inaba. Then I started wondering, are every school in Japan like that?!.
I live in Argentina so our educational system is preety messed up. It makes me jealous, and I canīt compare my school with that High School. Is it just me or anyone else feels like that?

When I stayed in Japan, I was in a rural town a lot like Inaba, and they had several high schools that seemed to be about that size there. So I would say it's pretty accurate.

Realize, the entire setting of P4 is in Japan. There are alot of people in japan. ALOT. The definition of 'Small Town' Is much different there.

I never thought it that way, it already seemed strange to me that a rural town had a department store like Junes.

Also there are about 2-3 other school mentioned in the duration of the story.

I live in a town much like Inaba except Junes is called Beisia (http://www.beisia.co.jp/) and yeah the high school here and the one in the games are pretty damn close also the river here is part of Inba Numa (http://www.ilec.or.jp/database/asi/asi-29.html).

But like someone said there are a lot of people in Japan. A small town here is like 30,000 people.

That school seems an average size and probably has an average number of students. Let me 'splain.

Under Japanese law, only elementary and middle school education is mandatory, so when you're about to enter high school, you look for a school that suits your collegiate purpose (trade, college prep or college-affiliated) and you take the entrance exam for it. If you get in, you have the right to go there, but it costs money. This is why a lot of Japanese high school students go to schools outside of the districts they live in and have to commute long distances. If Inaba is the largest town in the area (however rural it might be) and is a certain type of school (like a prep school), then it's also conceivable that many students from the area and outside of it would go there, meaning a large building is needed.

If Inaba is a crap trade school for losers (which is not made immediately clear in the game - thanks translation crew!), then knowing that would help set the tone for the story and would also mean the school is basically a large dumping ground for losers who aren't going to college.

There is a LOT about Japan that you cannot learn from playing a game or watching a cartoon. Ask Japanese people! They're often happy to recount their stories about their school days.

the only thing that makes me envy japan is the Uniforms, they're awesome.
I'm even going to buy a cosplay just for the P4 Uniform, the Jacket is just awesome.

My High School was only a single floor (at least what students could access), but it was really long. Two Gyms, a pool, a big auditorium and two lunch rooms.

My Elementary school was much bigger. Three floors.

It was kind of separated too. Fifth grade on the third, fourth and third on the second, some classes on the first, but it was mostly gym space and the office.

I don't think it's huge, it's average size in my opinion... Never really thought of that.
