View Full Version : Is it true that you need a walkthrough in order to access the Snow Queen quest?

Based on the reviews that I have read, it seems that the only way of accessing the second story branch (Snow Queen Quest) is by doing some things early on in the game. And the only of doing these things is by knowing in advance what to do. I guess that in order to know all the right stuff you would have had to read up on a walkthrough first. Am I right? There is also the matter of the excessive difficulty which will sway most people from ever finishing the quest. Now I know why Atlus U.S.A. decided to take it out way back in '96. Still, one cannot argue with a complete package even though I am pretty sure that I will never be able to grind my way to victory:(

You gotta jump through a few hoops to get it but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

On the flipside, is it possible to accidentally wander into the Snow Queen Quest?

Not entirely sure since I never played the SQQ in English. I think you could but you would know ahead of time that you were. It envolves talking to a few people in a specific order.

if you find a mask in the school you're beyond the point of return.

Instructions on accessing the Snow Queen Quest can be found here (http://persona1.wikidot.com/sqqprep). The link contains spoilers.

Atlus never brought Persona in 1996 it was Tecmo that did it. And it was not a localized version either it was an Americanized one.

There is so much wrong with these two sentences.

Please point to Tecmo's logo.

It's under the K-A ESRB rating! HONEST!

Slayn's just blind. Tecmo totally published it using the Tecmo Bowl logo.

Wait wait wait...

What did you filthy miscreants add to the PSP port to bump the rating up to Teen?

^They added three seasons worth of stat tracking, customizable jerseys and mascots, and trades!

The 'T' stands for team.

Hehehe Tecmo... That's funny. I remember playing Tecmo games way back. They were all like "Some psycho is running around with a sword trying to kill you! There he is! You're dead."
Not remotely Atlus worthy.

As far as accessing the Snow Queen Quest, I totally missed my opportunity. *sadface* Ijust got to the Deva System Chamber and thought "I should check a guide before making any more decisions." Toooooo late.

So I figure I'll go the SEBEC route... again...for nostalgia's sake I suppose. I beat the game in '96 so yeah this is all a big re-run. Still fun though.

The SQQ was cut in the PS1 version during localization due to time constraints, as far as I know.

And I'm assuming they censored a lot of the dialogue when they localized the PS1 version, and they changed the names of a bunch of demons/Personas too, which could be the reason for the K-A rating. Or this could be another one of ESRB's crack ratings.

Yes, if you're one of those RPG players that like to take time and snoop around you can stumble into it.

I don't think developers put in secrets in video games that can only be uncovered with a game guide.

Another thing that's retarded about the SQQ is that you need a walkthrough in order to not get the bad ending.

lol

Isn't this timed? And can you save? I've read the IGN review, and it said you can't save and it's timed, but i'm not sure if that's true.

When you're inside the towers there is a timer, around 3 hours. You can only save when you're at the school so you have to exit the towers to save.
