The battle load times are really slow. Is this a problem with my modded PS2 or the copy I downloaded (only because the original disc won't work at all)? And is there can I do anything to fix this?

I didn't pirate it - I made a backup copy since the original, legit disc wasn't compatible with my PS2 anymore. It used to work just fine on a modded PS2.
