If you just met Haru, then you're in day 1. Introductions tend to have a lot of expository dialogue so you know what you're doing.

The solution is to stop grinding. There's no need at least for the first couple of days. Just crack the skills in the Free Battles and move on. There are three or so story battles and usually an equal number of free battles on each day (until the last day, which has more). You've got roughly 20 events per day that advance the clock, so most of the events are just going to be talking to advance the game's plot, but most of the people don't spend as much time talking after the first day.
