Couple of issues with DS

Boldwin has simply vanished from stonefang. Seeming as hes the only person who can upgrade weapons this is another punch to the gut. Talked with some friends who have had this happen as well so this needs to be adressed in the NA release for sure. Its almost a game killer.

Someone else on the Eurogamer forums had this happen as well. Never seen it myself but it IS annoying if it's your first or maybe even second playthrough.

lol yeah thanks for correction on the name mix up its the 2-1 guy. This is so annoying I got 3 colorless demons souls to pump into my dark silver shield and cant lol This would be a killer for first time players.

Maybe we can get a comment on this as being a known bug Atlus is hammering out. Id like to know whats going to be fixed when the NA release ships out before I buy the game again. Seems like this should have already been patched as its a key part of the game. I mean a lvl 10 spear is fine to do the job but a North Regia or however you spell it is more of a weapon to make some head way.

did you accidentally killed him by casting strong area-of-effect spells near 2-2 Archstone?

if you cast Rage of God or Firestorm when fighting Armor Spider, you might have killed Blacksmith Ed. he is just living upstairs of the Archstone. you can hear the sound of the moving platform there as well.

I did not know this. It would have to be Rage Of God, since it's the only magic that passes through walls.

This has never happened to me, but I know it was discussed in the early days when this happened to someone. Anyway the conclusion back then was just like Cold_Drake said using magic that goes through walls. The tunnels in the mines are very narrow and close to each other, so blasting away with rage of god there is not a good idea :)

i got demon souls the other day the Asian version i could get into the pantheon and now all of a sudden i cant i am able to join other games and stuff but it just sits at retrieving server data at the door to the pantheon and it will not open anyone know how to fix or who to contact or what to do please help me

i never had either of those spells and still he disappears its realy annoying and i think it killed the game for me pls any suggestion before i throw it down pls i realy like this game

We really need to get a mod to merge/sticky the ed's dissappearing act. This makes the...4th thread? about this issue.

Unfortunately all we truly seem to know about Ed is that it's some weird programming error. We've been hoping to find an in-game reason that we could prevent or attempt to avoid until we we're close to the next NG cycle but so far we haven't gotten anything reliable.

AoE Spells Killing him-Shot down because someone used hack tools and mapped the level, only way these spells can hurt Ed is if they are cast inside his room
Ed Leaves Rude People- Theory is based on the fact that Ed gets mad at you when you leave dialogue without closing it first, unfortunately no one has been able to get it to occur with reliability so if this IS the case it's a % chance of it occuring, and not a fixed number.
NPCs dissapear when you have pure black wt/ct- another one we haven't had any conclusive evidence truly supporting or disputing so if it actually is the case it's a random chance.

Beyond that it's just a bad glitch in need of a patch that FROM hasn't seen worthy of developing, unless I missed something in the past week.

aside from everthing Hiji already stated,i think i am ONE,if not the only that has a working ED now...after losing him sooooo many times.

seriously,if you create a new char,treat ED's area like egg shells. seriously disarm yourself incase you hit the triggers by accident,like some do. IMPORTANT: DO NOT run off from ED after an upgrade or window shopping. ALWAYS let him finish talking then click leave,then he will say 'bla bla bla i work alone'. THEN you can leave. also do not roll around and destroy his buckets and crates lol. i seriously walk into 2-1 w/extreme caution. if you dont believe me,purposely open a chat w/him and keep running off. atleast more than once,and he'll say something grumpy. load the game and he will be gone. anyway,i've had this latest ED stay w/me through out the entire run.

if anyone is willing to help prove my statement,please do. i might create a female char this weekend and try again to NOT lose ED,by doing what i am doing now.

Either way it's still a constant re-occuring issue for alot of people. Ed hasn't dissapeared in my current cycle thankfully. Then again I haven't logged onto the game in a long while.
