IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- JULY 29, 2009 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc., defenders of the macro-transaction (i.e., pay once, get everything), today expanded the free bonus for customers who pre-order Demon's Souls™, a groundbreaking action RPG experience for PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

In addition to the previously announced 40-page, full-color art book (SAMPLE), (http://issuu.com/atlususa/docs/demons_souls_artbook)fans who pre-order at a participating retailer can now also expect to receive a free soundtrack CD featuring music from the game (SAMPLE) (http://www.demons-souls.com/artbook_cd.html). The disc, which offers 24 tracks totaling 71 minutes from the game's haunting orchestral score, represents the complete Demon's Souls soundtrack, available for the first time as part of this exclusive North American promotion. The CD will be secured within the inside back cover of the art book, ensuring that existing pre-orders will receive the added bonus disc.

"With its deep, satisfying gameplay and highly innovative online functionality, Demon's Souls is already a tremendous value for PLAYSTATION 3 system owners," stated Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales at Atlus. "Not content with just that, or possibly suffering from some sort of undetectable mental ailment, we're taking things even further with the expansion of the free pre-order gift being offered to customers. Reserve EITHER edition of the game, Standard or Deluxe, at a participating retailer and receive a 40-page art book and a music CD featuring the game's full soundtrack, all exclusive to North America and at no additional cost to the customer. With this, pre-orders of the Deluxe edition of Demon's Souls become one of the best values in gaming history, and a must-own for collectors and avid fans of the game."

Demon's Souls for PLAYSTATION 3 system is scheduled for North American release on October 6, 2009. The Standard Edition will retail with an MSRP of $59.99, and the Deluxe Edition, which includes a 150+ page strategy guide (SAMPLE) (http://issuu.com/atlususa/docs/strategy_guide_deluxe_edition) and collectible slipcase, will retail with an MSRP of $69.99.

About Demon's Souls
King Allant the XII, the last king of Boletaria, searched tirelessly to expand his might. The Nexus, a great ice shrine nestled in the mountains, bestowed the power of the souls onto him, bringing prosperity to his kingdom. Still unsated, he returned again to the Nexus, where he foolishly awakened the Old One from its eternal slumber. This long forgotten evil, now wrought upon Boletaria, plunged the realm into darkness and fog. A mighty demon horde poured into the kingdom, devouring the souls of men.

Champions from other realms learned of Boletaria's fate and sought to deliver the kingdom from evil; none would return from the cursed land. Called upon by a mysterious maiden in black, you go forth, the last hope for humanity in a place lost to demons and darkness...

Key Features

• Ultimate hardcore RPG challenge -- In this brutal land, death is inevitable, but not final. Combining the best features of an action game and RPG, you'll slice, smash, shoot, and ensorcel some of the most horrible, vicious enemies ever encountered. Are you strong enough to face the impossible and win?
• Groundbreaking online capabilities -- Network features go far beyond any previous RPG, allowing players to leave hints for each other, replay death scenes, cooperatively revive dead players, or invade another player's game to wreak havoc. Not merely an add-on feature, multiplayer options are vast, and uniquely focused on changing and intensifying the single player experience.
• Freeform and flexible -- The open-ended structure of the game means that there is no single path, but rather a wealth of options. Set your own pace and progress as you like. Build exactly the character you want by creating a detailed avatar, nurturing the right stats, and customizing your skills and equipment.
• You act, the world reacts -- The World Tendency system changes the aggressiveness of monsters and the rewards for killing them based on players' actions. Different events and NPCs may be triggered, as well.

Eh, its ok if you're into soundtracks and art books. I imported Demon Soul's way back so this isnt enough to make me want to repurchase especially if its same english voice overs and everything.

Thanks for this addition Atlus. I had already pre-ordered, but this is a very nice addition to the package. I'm really glad that I heard you guys were bringing this over before I imported, and have been able to hold out for the NA release.

Well, heck Atlus, why not make an uber bundle with the PS3 and that will be the best Christmas ever for children everywhere!

Seriously, I need a PS3. But even if I did get one, it would at or soon after Christmas, so no Deluxe Edition for me. :[

AMAZING! Those on the forums who know me can attest I loved this game and was planning on picking it up again when it arrived here in the states. This pretty much seals the deal on buying a SECOND copy...that's right...TWO COPIES!

I know you say it's a full soundtrack but...does that include The Once Royal Mistress' eerie vocal hymn?

I also spent a little time previewing the other goodies and I have to say...you NAILED it ATLUS. The artbook with character details and bios are exactly what I was hoping for. I had complete faith the company would get this right but I was preparing for the worst. Glad to see my concern was misplaced.

Is there any chance we can tracklisting for the Soundtrack?

Also im a bit worried about your art book and the guide book from what ive seen in the sample pages, they look like they dont have as much indepth information as the japanese guides (Which was full of figures and facts along with in-depth maps and item locations)

The art book also disappoints me a little cause i thought it would have been much like the prebious image we had, where large pages were dedicated to a single picture and its sketches if there were some. I dont really like the art your giving us to be obscured by any other information other then what the original artist wrote along with the sketches.

Now this is only judging from the sample pages, so if im wrong please correct me then i wont have any problems at all. But otherwise your guys are doing a fantastic job, this really is the dream collection and im proud to be owning 2 copies of this game. I dont know how you did it, but you did it well!

My props to you ATLUS, now itll be cool if you could do a video interview with the developers and composer ;)

Any idea if the artbook and soundtrack will be shipped to Gamestop stores with the game at its release or before the release as an incentive to preorder in advance?

I love Atlus' efforts in comedy, IMPORTERS DEVASTATED! Lol

I am very happy that I pre-ordered Demon's Souls, merely am damn curious whether or not I should pre-order Assassin's Creed 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum too >.>

The only problems with pre-ordering and getting those games, is I bet i'd god damn be too busy playing DEMON'S SOULS for months, ignoring and having those games gather dust before I even touch them! Grrrrr!!

^ Danke sehn

sorry, I've got issues like that.

As usual, when I tried to correct someone, I made a mistake myself, and mangled schön and sehr into one craptastic word.

'Danke schön' and 'Danke sehr' I recall learning. Danke sehn not so much. Its been a while though - when would it be more apt to use? (I'm honestly curious, albeit not much :P)

I had pre-ordered the game already, and had switched to the deluxe edition as soon as it was available to pre-order. This extra stuff is just awesome. I love getting soundtracks and artbooks.

We in Europe have no choice but to import. I've preordered a deluxe and standard edition; good gift for a friend or I can go and sell it and make a small profit on it.

My experience is that special editions always suck big time. The latest SFIV and Sacred2 are perfect examples. But this is something different, I believe.

I preordered it. Wait... I already paid for it :D

Two months to go... Difficult to have patience sometimes. :p

If you want the pre-order extras too, then I would say:

http://www.videogamesplus.ca/

they have sensible shipping costs, and ship basically anywhere in the world. Actually they were the only one out of the participating retailers that would ship the game where I live.

This is who I've used as well. Quite reasonable, all things considered.

I've pre-ordered my copy of Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition at http://www.japanvideogames.com/.

I use VGP, but seeing as how you just linked to JapanVideoGames I have to ask: Is there seriously no cheaper option than $40.63 shipping when you buy from them? Seriously?
Don't tell me you paid that x_x

Well I did but I didn't get to buy it because they refunded my money and I was so pissed that I never get to pre-order Demon's Souls.

Is Buy.com one of the participating retailers that gets the artbook and soundtrack bonus? It doesn't say on their website that you get a artbook and soundtrack like on amazon. I don't have to pay sales tax if i get it from buy.com. Anyone know?

I've been a lurker, but I had to make an account to reply to this. I strongly urge you to research Buy.com before you consider ordering anything from them, whether they provide the pre-order bonuses or not. I tried to order a PS3 from them before which they told me was in stock and ready to ship. It wasn't until later that I discovered all the horrible customer reviews and complaints they were getting. Damaged merchandise, unanswered e-mails, unshipped items, misplaced orders, the list went on. More troubling was the fact they didn't even have a number I could call to get help or customer service. They relied entirely on a customer service form you fill out at their site (which sadly, is the only method you can use to cancel your order). I asked them numerous times about my order over the span of weeks and got no reply. I had to call my bank and deactivate my card just to stop the transaction because they wouldn't respond. Frankly I should have looked into them more, but got excited over their deals and offers. It would've saved me a lot of frustration.

Maybe they've gotten better, but regardless be careful.

Sorry for this to go off-topic.
