The game freezes momentarily as the group is leaving the meeting room. As I was starting this thread it unfroze and continued normally. I'm playing the original Persona 3 on a PS3, I was curious if this is a known bug with the game itself or a compatibility issue with the PS3?

Pretty much every PS2 game has compatibility issues on a PS3 as far as I know. They're laggy as hell and they look attrocious.

So far the only game I've noticed a significant difference was Soul Calibur 2, which only had a lower frame rate that made it look like the Wii version. Everything else I've played on it has been honkey-dorey.

Only the newer software BC.
I have a launch 20 gig PS3 with the actual PS2 hardware in it. Not a single problem in 3 years.

Granted that I haven't played a lot of PS2 games on my 80GB PS3, but the ones I've played haven't had any problems. Thankfully, though, I've still got my fat PS2 in the bedroom if there are any problems with a game.
It also strikes me that my PS3 is an awefully expensive system to use for anything other than playing PS3 games, but maybe that's just me.

I'd argue that using it JUST for PS3 games is a complete waste of your money. Sony keeps touting the "bang for the buck", the multimedia features, the bluray drive, the PS1 classics on PSN, etc. So, I use it for all of those :) Definitely feels like I've made good use of my launch PS3.

As long as my system lasts at least as long as my PS2 has, I'll be happy. I don't buy game systems intending to replace them before some decent games come out for the next generation systems.

Got the same glitch here. Impatient creature that I am, I kept resetting it, and now after I let it sit for a minute, it starts working again. Hooray! Another, nastier one that I've been running into occasionally is the game saying I have no memory card in, when I'm using the HD to save my games on. Even erased a save once as well @.@ Lucky, I save constantly, so I had back-ups, but still, scary. Oh, and I, too, am using the 80GB model. Haven't had any problems with any other PS2 games though, just a slightly-more-than-occasional issue with games not starting up right, but a quick reset fixes that.
I have not noticed that glitch when I was playing P3 on my PS3. However, I got the original launch 60 gig, the only problem that I have is with my tv. I have 50 inch and I have to take the wide screen setting off so some of the games look better. Thankfully, P3 and P4 are not in that category. Also, the PS3 can play PS2 and PSone games. Not using the PS3 to play the previous consoles games is definitely not using your PS3 to the best of it's abilities.
