I wanted to know before preordering, does this game have any offline capabilities?
I don't have access to internet with my PS3 right now but I'd still like to play the game.
Also if there IS an offline mode, can I use my char that I leveled offline to play online with?
Help meeee :D

Yes on both counts. You're free to play offline if you choose, though you won't be able to read hint messages or bloodstains, and you won't be able to summon phantoms to help you. Your saved game is based on your character, which you can take into either offline or online mode whenever you want.

Sweetness! I know playing offline sucks and it's so retro, but I just don't have access to a router right now :D
Also can we create many characters? Are we limited to the amount we can have?
I would guess not, since each character would be a new save game?

You're limited to four seperate characters/saves slots, because all info is saved on their servers, not your PS3.
So no copying, downloading someone elses progress etc.
I now have characters sitting at soul level: 25, 50, 115, 200! :D

How does that even work with what the admin said previously? If I can play solo (offline), then how can my save data be on their server?!

Your save states are indipendant of the servers. One has nothing to do with the other. Saves are stored on your HDD, Servers are remote...they don't do checks to see where level advances were made, offline/online.

In the ASIAN version you CANNOT play offline. You cannot choose.
The only way to do so is to pull the network cable from your PS3. Can you please clarify?

Your wrong, you can play offline just like the Admin said.
Playing offline doesnt give you the benefits that the Admin listed.
Your data while playing offline, is saved on your HDD.
But when you play online all thats saved is the amount of times you summon people into your game and your ratings percentage. (After each co-op session you give ratings to other players out of S,A,B,C,D and vice versa.)
I had a problem where i lost all my data, since Demons Souls isnt a game where you can transfer data to a USB i had lost my character data, but all my online data remained. (Which were the amount of online games i played and my rating percentages).
I hope that clears up the confusion between offline and online saving.

No you cannot "Choose" to play offline. There's no option to do so. Thats what I was trying to point out so I think I didnt post properly.
The admin was saying you can without explaining first........yes you can if you pull the network cable out of your PS3 or perhaps disconnect from the PS3 main menu before starting the game in my opinion thats not practical and annoying.
I know what you mean though...I should have clarified.

The person that asked the question stated they can't play online, and that was the context in which the question was answered. Further, you can always choose not to go online with your PS3 without pulling the network cable, you just take it offline via the system menu, and when the game prompts you to go online you refuse. The game can still be played and your cable still attached, but you won't be online.
I haven't seen anything posted on this so I am pretty sure it doesn't exist. But will we be able to do Offline Co-op? I am trying to find a RPG that my wife and I can play. We both loved FFXI but we don't want to do a huge MMO again.
So I was hoping that this might offer co-op on the same system.
If not I'm excited to get it and play it, just reserved my deluxe edition :)

Start game when asked to sign in hit cancel, "Would you like to start in offline mode?" Thats what it says for me. How can you miss that dude?
Offline is only good if you have just spent 7hrs getting your body back and you dont want some random player to crash your game and kill you etc. Personally I always play online. I tryed offline once and was not the same at all.

No... offline co-op isn't offered, unfortunately. That would be cool, but unrealistic. One person has to be dead for the co-op to work, and after beating a boss, both players' bodies are restored, so co-op would end.
