Heeey. I'm trying to play through the original Devil Children games, but I'm not getting a lot of information on them, unfortunately. So, couple of questions.
I have scripts for White and Black, and apparently Shivalva wrote up one for Red, but I don't know if it was ever released widely. Anyone have it?
From the manual, I think I get how elemental strengths and weaknesses work -- and the first three games in the series seem a lot harder than DemiKids were, so I'll probably be needing to use this -- but I'm kind of confused as to how the elements in the game line up to the spells. It looks like Devil Children uses the agi, zan, magnas, zio, and bufu lines, but the elements, according to the manual, are fire, metal, wood, water, earth, moon, and sun. Fire is agi and earth is magnas I'm guessing, and bufu is probably water, but how do wood and metal correspond to zan and zio? And actually DemiKids related, but how did weaknesses work in that? I lost my manuals for that and it seems different.
How does that remote control fusion thing work in White, anyway?
And uh... yeah, I think that's everything I was wondering about for now.

In all of the other SMT games
Agi - Fire
Bufu - Ice
Zio - Electric
Zan/Garu - Wind aka "Force"
Tera/Magna - Earth
Aqua - Water
Frei - Nuclear(?)
Hama - Light
Mudo - Dark
I haven't played much of Devil Children so I'm not sure if there are any specific to the series.

I'm pretty sure Zan and Garu are two differing elements, rather than the same, but don't quote me on that.
Yeah, Garu is wind, Zan is force. While in some games force takes the same role wind would normally occupy, sometimes it acts as more of almighty spell -- in P2, you had both Garu and Zan spells.

"I haven't played much of Devil Children so I'm not sure if there are any specific to the series."
Demikids had fire, water, ice, earth, wind, thunder, light, and dark.
And this might just be because I don't know japanese at all and I'm getting the wrong definitions on the element names, but Zio seems to be of type "metal" and... I don't know what the tree element I'm seeing what be.
Moon and sun probably correspond to light and dark, but it is a bit weird with the other two..
It LOOKS like Devil Children went with something that represented the five areas of Makai, at least in Red and Black.
"I have scripts for White and Black, and apparently Shivalva wrote up one for Red, but I don't know if it was ever released widely. Anyone have it?"
I still have it. I don't know if you're aware of this, but I have also worked with a couple of hackers to create patches for some the Devil Children games that weren't released in English, though they haven't really taken the scripts anywhere just yet.
The "direct to text" translations I did for the Devil Children games were pretty rough and done rather quickly without much revision. My style has also evolved over the years, so I would rather people wait and play a patch than distribute my old text files.
I actually have preliminary English versions of Black Book and Ice Book, but they aren't fully hacked and certainly aren't beatable in their current states. Here are some preliminary pictures from the Black Book translation.

P.S. I don't know much about weaknesses. I just pump my partner up with a whole bunch of devils. That usually makes them strong enough to kill any boss in a few hits.
"How does that remote control fusion thing work in White, anyway?"
You need a GBC, with the infrared port at the top. You start the fusion and then press a button on a remote control pointing at it. Apparently different buttons on different remotes may have a different effect, but I found the process awkward and it seemed like I couldn't get it to work most of the time. (Maybe I was doing something wrong?) When it did work, I think it just affected some minor stats, or something.
There may be a demon that can only be fused that way, or something, but even if that's the case, it's not really necessary or worth your time.

Ah, cool. Glad to see those projects are still kind of around :) They're neat little games.
Anyway, I guess zio is connected to Metal and zan is connected to Wood for some reason. I tested it out a bit and that seemed to work, so...
