View Full Version : PSP version?

I'll totally buy it all over again if Sting does voiceovers for it and includes dual language selection ala Riviera for the PSP. I'm not sure if the PSP versions of YU and Riviera have improved artworks since I bought the PSP versions as I was late to the party and missed out on the GBA variants? Riviera PSP's graphics look very sharp, clean and bright, but I'm not sure if the GBA version looks that good as well. KitN for the DS has some blurry fonts though...
Hopefully I'll finally get to unlock the YU bonuses from my save games in the memory stick. I'm still trying to find a used copy of YU for Pamela...not much luck there or I'll just wait for Atlus to reprint it, which might never happen. A brand new copy of YU is too expensive at this point.
It will be nice to have a complete official strategy guide in English as well when this game gets the PSP treatment from Sting. KitN is very technical, and I'm sure I'm not the only one to welcome accurate charts and tables in large fonts on a physical book.

I could imagine the controls, but it would probably be unbearable to play. Plus, the only reason they ported those games (twice for Riviera!) was because the PSP was next-gen. Since DS is also next-gen, they wouldn't do it.

Crap, I totally forgot about the touchscreen. Oh well, there's always the pipe dream that PSPGO will have a touchscreen version in 5 years...
Or the wisp can be controlled just like every schmup using the digital pad + button presses to charge up but I'm not sure if that will work out right in practice...

I was thinking analog to control the wisp, and holding X for things like charging, grabbing items, etc. Otherwise, it's like holding L/R in the DS Version.

Plus Knights in the Nightmare it should be an exclusive for the DS.

More requests as I get further in the game
- this game definitely needs a cut-scene viewer/replay option. 70% of the first 10 scenes are told through flashbacks, it isn't chronological. I'm quite lost on the story and I'm wondering how will fans who don't have the artbook get any refresher course on the storyline via character biographies if they left the game for a week or more? Unless you have photographic memory... >_>
- multiple save slots. I want to experiment with things, and I can't do that efficiently with just one save slot.
- ability to access Setup screen at any time. I want to compare weapons according to their level prerequisites, Law/Chaos attack strength, elemental property and so on to chart an optimal path for Nightmare mode.
...that's about it for now.

Ugh. :frown:
Hey I know, wouldn't buying another copy of the game solve most of your problems?
Then again, maybe not...

While a PSP version is possible wouldn't it be harder to control the wisp and do other actions since the touch screen is not present. I mean sure you can use the analog stick but it wouldn't be a accurate as using the touch screen.

This game is probably the best argument for the usefulness of the touch screen in an actual game I've ever seen, and I probably wouldn't want to attempt to play a port on another system. That makes this one of the few games I don't want to see on the PSP.
Not that it would be completely terrible on the PSP, it's just that even if the movement speed of the wisp was user-configurable, it would take forever to get it down just right with the analog or the D-Pad.

You're right, it won't. Because I have 3 copies of the game and 3 artbooks along with it.

$30 is too expensive?
Anyway, Sting does tend to release their games for multiple systems and/or do remakes. However, with the touch controls, I'd expect that any remake of KitN would happen on the Wii if it's going to happen anywhere. This makes perfect sense when you consider that Trauma Center (the other best argument for touch/pointer controls) made it's transition to the Wii rather nicely.

$30 is reasonable, but it tends to be from marketplace sellers, and not direct from Amazon. Due to a bad experience with a retailer putting up wares on Ebay before, I tend to be very skeptical about resellers on Amazon or Ebay, especially those with <99% positive ratings. Until Amazon itself sells it for $30, I'll jump in but no way am I paying $70 for one copy of a GBA game, reputable seller or not.
And I agree with the Wii suggestion. One of the things that I've mentioned giving me problems is the blurry font size. I've only suggested that a port of KitN be made for PSP is due to Sting's history with porting over their GBA games to PSP, but in the case of KitN's heavy touchscreen functions I'm very much in favor of a Wii port too. I would expect it to be in 480p as well, and that will eliminate the blurry font size problem I'm experiencing now. I love KitN's artwork, and any attempt to show it on the big screen with some HD (albeit 480p only) coating is a welcome move.

Amazon doesn't sell YU. I actually bought the last copy in... 2007 I think. I bought it on a whim while browsing Atlus GBA games because it had that "Order Soon - 1 Copy Remaining" warning.
Anyway, the YU for $70 on Amazon is from Hitgaming who also sells on eBay, and they typically gouge on price and shipping whenever they can. I don't know how they got to be a "featured seller" on Amazon. There's no reason to be shy with the marketplace. The transactions go through Amazon and are done via credit card, so you can talk to Amazon or charge back through your credit card if there is a problem that the seller won't resolve.

Oh well yea I knew that (I already have mine pre-ordered :3) but they way they were talking I thought they didn't know that it's already been out for awhile in Japan.
Though of course, in my herp-derpness I also didn't realize that this thread is well over a year old :V

To the person who said they needed YU, you get the downloadable version for free if you buy KitN on launch day.

Sweet, two games I already own for more than I paid for either of them!
I guess it's all in how you look at it.

I had this game on DS but never played it, I hate the DS so I sold it with all my games. I for sure will buy this for PSP and play it this time.
