Haha. Just kidding ;)

But seriously, it would be fun to TRY. I'd like to make my character look like Chuck Norris in the face and take on some demons in some unarmed fisticuffs throwdown action.

I'm sure, however, that the two vertically-arranged halves of my body would meet swift separation in a game advertised as being so brutal. But a guy can dream, right?

Hand to hand is the basis of all combat!

...except in this game.

Well, I'm certainly glad that someone came across my off-hand remark. But yeah, it makes me look back at Oblivion and D&D and scoff (no disrespect meant). How could the guy with the bare fists rock the guy with the halberd?

I had a fantastic anecdote i posted on another forum, but i don't want to paste the full version here for fear of spoilers.

Let's just say it involved my Blue Phantom co-op partner, and the Black Phantom invader, stripping off down to their undergarments, and having a full-on fist fight while i watched, whooping and hollering!

So yes, you can punch players and demons, if you really want to.

Oh, awesome. I'm sold. Is there any chance of survival playing the game this way? Haha.

Hands of God basically let you play Hand-to-Hand considering they're combat gauntlets.

Believe it or not, they're quite devastating if upgraded to +5 with high str & faith stats.

Well, they are rather powerful. They aren't however, powerful enough to account for their speed or range. That S/-/-/S looks nice on paper though.

I don't think it's an argument for weapon/item efficiency, simply one for the fact of a gameplay mechanic per the OTC's statement.

Right-o. And I'm not actually planning on playing that way. It's just nice to have the option. The concept is humorous to me. I did actually get the game Friday. I'm stuck pretty hardcore on 1-2. I kept dying right before the boss, and now the boss is tearing me apart every time ;) I was pretty discouraged yesterday, but now I'm feeling ready to jump back in.

Skeletons are generally weak against blunt due to the bones being exposed so using your fists or any blunt object like a hammer would work wonders on them. It might be different for this game but in most I have played it is like that. Maybe you could try it.

I beat up a few dreglings in 1-1... it was satisfying, but dangerous. Had to wear light armor and keep dodging and punching them in the back of the head. Got some laughs from my friends!

Wait the Hands of God when its at +5 turns it into B/-/-/B not S/-/-/S

That is correct!

Hands of God look REALLY GOOD!

However they are so underpowered!
At +5 they only do 50/70/0 damage with parameters at B/-/-/B

I wish they were S/-/-/S.. that way they would at least be of some use. The Claw or the Iron Knuckles outclass the Hand's of God by a lot.

A real shame that the Legendary Big M.'s hands aren't that great...

Would be good if Atlas changed the stats to S/-/-/S. so the weapon I always wanted could be of use...

Sorry about the misinformation, probably just wishful thinking on my part, those things *should* be S/-/-/S, providing a competitive weapon of their type. Of course, atlus shouldnt change a thing.
