I just fired this up yesterday and I'm already 7 hours after the first day. Holy crap this game is awesome. Congrats to Atlus and IronNos on developing and publishing an outstanding Korean RPG. It's highly refreshing to see design elements from ChronoTrigger make it into another RPG!

That seems to be my problem. I can't find this game anywhere. Even Amazon doesn't have it in stock.

I must agree. This is a very awesome RPG. I just finished it last week and man, did I enjoy it. It was very reminiscent of a lot of RPGs I have played in the past(like Chrono Trigger, like Killrig stated) but what surprises me are the similarities this game has to the Korean MMORPG Ragnarok Online:
* Sprites with no noses
* Rare card drop system with the cards stat increasing effects
* MVP System
* Skill tree system and some of the skills themselves look oddly similar to some skills in RO.
All in all, it was very pleasurable to play through this game. What I loved about it the most is of course, the STORY! The story was what really pulled me into the game. I was so eager to find what would happen next that before I knew it, I beat the game. Kudos to the great translations which help made the characters lovable! I had a blast and I greatly recommend it to anyone who enjoys RPGs! :D

First thing i want to say is: "Sorry for my english jeje, since I'm not a english speaker".
I'm totally agree with most of opinions of this game, I have played lots of Rpg, i cant list 'em all here jeje but I can say its a Great RPG, actually i have 120+ hours of play, i did the whole game 2 times. I loggued here in order to give my opinion about the things I liked and the ones i think can be improved in a 99% probable Crimson Gem Saga 2 :P.
Positive:
History Line: A great History line, for me one of the most important things to keep you hooked playing a game, many of the Rpg I played before kept me motivated cause of their storylines.
Graphics/Sound: In addition to the great storyline, CGS has also a very good graphical support, detailed characters, good scenery and this combined with harmonic soundtracks and definite dialogues.
Enemies Location: I like the idea of seeing the enemies in the field, this allows you to decide if to attack them or try to hide yourself. This is really helpfull cause sometimes you miss potions or something and a battle could be lethal.
Ambush System: Simply perfect, I love it. Prolly one of the best improvements in this RPG, it turns the game a bit more tactical before the fight. And you must be careful to not being surprised by your back.
Critical Attack Chain: A reallly good addition to the fights, the more skilled you are, the more hard battles you can win if you are good at chaining.
Elemental Damage Gems/Card upgrading/Skill Upgrading: A good way to change the dmg of your weapons whenever you need it. And good way too to link your weapon/armor upgrade to Grinding via monster cards. Same to Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum medals that allows you to LVL your skills (this have a bad review too i will post)
Can be improved
This part is always "in my opinion".
Skill Tree Access: I found it when i had more than 2000 Ps, i was asking myself, "How come? LVL 20 and I haven't learned any new spell?" so I went into Web and found some forums with people who had same problem and finally found there was a skill tree.
Overpowered Skills: Personally I did not use the normal attack after lvl 3X-40, "massive dmg skills" are too powerfull to waste a turn for a simply normal attack. They are too powerfull cause you can use them all the time. This links to the new point.
Potion System: As you know, all characters have access to the "Bag", that bag that has infinite capacity cause it can contain over 2000 potion flasks.
What about little bags? Each character wears his own bag, you can equip their bags with limited number of things you think could be the best. Some limitations, for example cleric and mage the ones allowed to have Health Pots, chevalier and fighter the Buff pots.. something like that.
Too much mana: Linked to the Pot system above there is the mana, I think massive dmg spells use few mana. That allows you, linked to their overpowered dmg to end battles in 1-2 turns.
Medallion Problems: As you know medallions are dropped by monsters, according to their level you can drop Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum medallions, but what's the problem, when you are advanced in game you learn new skills and this are at lvl 1, you want to level them but DAMN! you can't find low level monsters now to drop Bronze medallions, and you are stuck with your new lvl 1 skills.
Weapon/Armor Drop/Buy: I miss more weapons, some that can only be dropped in a little % by some monsters. This can give more personality to your character. I dislike the idea (too many games have the same way) that when you arrive to a new city you go to weapon shop and there is a new weapon and armor for your team there...is kinda predictable and boring. I think there should be weapons/armors to buy but most powerfull ones had to be obtained with effort and time killing monsters/ hidden monsters or rare monsters that only appears few times in some maps for example.
Character/Monster Classes: I miss something different, you have all characters and monsters that basically are Close Combat.
Why not add something different??
My idea:
New class*: Hunter (ranged attacks and skills)
Mage (able to have some ranged spells)
* Flying Monsters: Monsters that can only be targeted for characters with ranged spells/skills.
Thank You to All
And Thanks specially to IronNos, SK Telecom and ALTUS for their great work.

I'm not a big fan of paying to see what's behind door number 1, 2, or 3 on your skill tree with your hard earned skill points that's shared across all your party members. Someone definitely wanted you to grind in this game :D
Nonetheless, it's an enjoyable experience that deserves more attention.
I was skeptical at first, but this game rocks! Unfortunately, it is a diamond in the rough because there is no marketing for it... No advertisements to help boost the popularity of the game, and it seems to be really hard to find it. I managed to get a copy, but my friend hasn't been able to track one down.

I guess I'll pick this up tomorrow when I purchase Devil Survivor since the GameStop near my house has two copies left. It was kind of hard wondering if it was worth it to purchase this game, but due to all the praise I have been hearing it sounds like it is worth a shot.

So far I like the game.
The only part I don't like is the Skill Tree. Paying to see which skill is next is kinda lame. And I played like 3-4 hours before finding out thats how you get skills :D

I also agree that this is an amazing game. It's nice to have a classic style RPG. I'm really glad Atlus translated this even though it probably won't sell all that many copies. Hey, at least I bought it!

I also think CGS is an amazing game. It is one of the better RPG's I have played. Kudos to the developer and publisher for this game. Best $30 I have spent in awhile.

I enjoy the game so far but I'd like it a bit more if I could figure out how to unlock skills. Still stuck with the skills the 5 charcters started out with and while the medalions are nice, I'd like a second or third skill for my charcters.

Go to the Menu, go to skills, hit triangle to bring up the individual skill trees. You buy new skills with SP.

I even checked the manual for it. Looked for a walkthru as well.
God, that's embarising, thanks for the help.
On the good side, I should be able to afford a few of them as I'm already at the end of the second chapter.

I'm pretty sure it's in the manual somewhere... But, anyway, you're going to be charging through, now. I'd recommend looking at a FAQ to figure out what skills you really want. :)

I have recently tried looking for this game, only to find tha it is sold out in every store close to me (that I know of). I'll get it one day. It sounds like I would have a ton of fun playing it.

Seeing a "CGS is awesome" thread with Manly Biceps as the last poster made me smile. :)
Now that I'm here, I thought I'd mention that it's on the Playstation Store now, although Amazon's price looks lower.

I know I am late to the party (fashionably?)
Finally got a copy of CGS- I cant say enough about it. Great animation for the characters, good story thus far (only about 15 hrs in) and a really enjoyable flow to combat.
As others have mentioned before I wish I didn’t have to spend SP to reveal a new skill- but its not a huge deal.
I would suggest anyone who is looking for an old school quality RPG- here it is! Great game. Thanks to Atlus for sharing this gem (no pun intended…. maybe) with us!
