Just got the new issue of Game Informer and they gave SMT: Devil Survivor a 8 with second opinion also being a 8.
It also tied for Handheld Game of the Month with Rock Band Unplugged.

Too bad it has to be from Game Informer, since it's such an awful magazine. Oh well, most people don't look past the scores anyway.

Pros:
-Compelling Story.
-Fun and addicitive battle system.
-Fusion system.
Cons:
-Chance plays a big role in how well you do.
-Inconsistent enemy behavior makes it hard to make strategies.
-Battle sprites and backgrounds are nothing special.

That's too bad. Most strategy games revolve around using your previous knowledge to thwart opponents.

Could you possibly scan the review and upload it, please? My GameInformer subscription ran out.

It's Game Informer, they barely know what strategy is. I wouldn't take that comment too seriously unless it's echoed by other reviewers. I wouldn't be surprised if the enemy was simply outsmarting them.

Game...Informer?
They at least USED to give reviews scores based on what they thought their readers would want. Hence a 5.5 for Paper Mario, 6 for Battalion Wars...and general jRPG hate.
I'll take it with a grain of salt, but a good start. Now where are our spoils

From gamefaqs.com
"Story: 2
Gameplay: 1.5
Graphics: 1.5
Sound: 2
Difficulty/Replay Value: 1.5
Add it all and it's a 8.5!"
While the rating system is strange (so Graphics, Sound and Difficulty/Replay Value [what's that for a category, btw??] count more than Story and Gameplay...) it still got a pretty good rating.
For me the most important aspects are story (which includes characters, etc. of course) and gameplay. In (j)rpgs it is nearly 100% the story which makes or brakes the game for me. Of course the graphics aren't unimportant (the game shouldn't be ugly to watch), but I don't need high end graphics. Zelda 3 or Final Fantasy 6 on the snes have great graphics, while Zelda:OoT is ugly, so on the long run I like 2D more than 3D graphics.
Pros:
-Compelling Story.
-Fun and addicitive battle system.
-Fusion system.
Apparently Devil survivor fulfills every of my requirements, so it is as good as bought. :)
The cons just seem to be minor details.

I've been looking forward to this game for awhile now and just pre-ordered. Its still cool getting the heads up on the game though. Looks like I'm going to have to take some time off from Innocent Sin.
