question about recruiting

Ok, so.. I've made it up to about stage 6 I think.. and on the latest stage there were several ghosts that I had no special objects to recruit.

My question is this.. with the way the game and story progress, should you always be able to recruit everyone you come across, the first time you run into them?

Is the reason I didn't have the item necessary to recruit the ghosts because I didn't destroy every destroyable object in an earlier stage, or are there certain ghosts that you cannot recruit when you first run into them?

I guess I'm just wondering how thorough I need to be in my stage object destruction.. I try to destroy them all, but I don't always succeed.

I'm not that much farther than you but I think that it IS possible to recruit them when you first run into them. I played that stage and there was one person I couldn't recruit and it was because I missed one destroyable object, and I know which one it was because I was staring at it, in despair of course, when I beat the last stage -________-

Someone who has beat the game will probably have a better answer but even if you are able to destroy all objects in sight, certain objects eventually respawn either on certain turns or a set amount of turns have passed after you first destroy it, so its highly likely that you won't be able to get every single thing. I found that out after a box I was certain I had destroyed came back and it gave me another item after I destroyed it again.

I wouldn't worry about missing a few knights though. I've missed about 8+ and I still have more than I can handle or what's needed to complete stages. Unless you're a perfectionist and absolutely need all the knights, you won't have a problem. Sorry if it's confusing, I can clarify it a bit more to you or anyone else if my answer was unclear.

As Pktazn mentioned many, and so far in my experience most, items require waiting for respawns and opening or breaking them again.

To get an object to respawn you first have to break it so that its damage taken is 100%. (It'll say 100% at the bottom right and the object's picture will have changed) The item will be in fragile state and then you need a warrior to attack it with a skill. It'll be destroyed completely and you'll get some ore. (The ore element will be the element of the skill used by the warrior).

It takes a few turns for the item to respawn so you'll want to destroy objects as quickly as possibly, usually in the first few turns. At first it may take some patience and planning to destroy all the items, as only a warrior can destroy them and their direction and height of their attacks are limited. A lot of the stages require successive substitutions of duelists and warriors to progress to higher heights to destroy all the items. If such puzzles aren't your cup of tea, you can always just play the game without attempting 100%recruitment, I don't think you'll have trouble if you're playing easy or normal if you missed a few characters.

In addition if you hover over items. There will be a message about opening or breaking the object to obtain a key item. If it says open (most barrel, boxes, and chests say open) you'll have to deal 50-99% damage. If your attack is too strong you may break the item in one shot and you'll miss the item.

As for your question regarding recruitment. Yes, you can recruit every ghost as you see them, if you have collected all the available key items from the previous scenes.

I hope that helped. All of this is from my experience of the game so far. I'm only up to stage 17 on normal mode. Also I can't read japanese so I can't reference any of the current online guides.

I was confused too thanks for clearing!
I haven't been getting too many ghost items. It seems none of my Warriors can attack the obsticles in time. :very_sad: Im about 70% all recruits availible at the stage im at. Im hoping that when I defeat it'll be easier!

Ahhh, I didn't know items/key item may respawn! Nice information! :)
