As I write this, Amazon is selling R vs S for 97 dollars? (+8 dollars for shipping).
Wow... I guess the sequel has really pushed up the demand for the first game.

^It's not sold by Amazon.com, it's sold by a seller on Amazon.com.

No...
It's sold my a featured merchant...

If it was a seller than there wouldn't be an option to add it to your cart from the main listing. It would link to this page instead: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000FPGZUE/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new Which by the way, has cheaper listings...

Processing takes an additional 4 to 5 days for orders from this seller.
Ships from and sold by Hitgaming Video Games.
As you can see, it isn't fulfilled directly by Amazon.com

Additionally, as long as it stays up, it's not actually sold... This is why you should always run a search on ebay with the "show completed listings" option before buying something that is no longer available through normal retail to get a better idea of what the market price might be.

Then again, if you look around you can still buy this game new from some retailers for $40-50.

Funny saw it at gamestop for twenty-five a few weeks ago. Would of gotten it too if I wasn't broke.

Whoa... Now, it's almost 5 times higher than the game's price 3 months ago.

I meant to purchase RK vs SA , but it was never that high on my "to do" list.
Now, I have no to blame but myself.
Still, there's no way I'd pay the current prices.
Hey, Atlus. How about a limited reprint a la Nocturne & DDS 1?

I saw Nocturne the other day going for $35 at 'The Exchange'. Should have picked it up and put it on eBay but I did not want to screw somebody like I got screwed on there.

Ridiculous. This was a bargain bin game for like two months. I got it at launch and sold it after a little while...wasn't diggin it. The 2nd one, however, I have just about completed.

What do you all think is a good price for this game. It is going all over for $70 and up.

Honestly?

$10-$20

Raidou 1 isn't good enough to justify any price higher.

I actually think I paid more for the strategy guide than the game itself, and bought them both new at Fry's while I was in California last year. With a little searching I've actually managed to pick up all of the PS2 SMT games at reasonable prices. I wish I had picked up more of them on release (like the DDS games), but things happen and it's not always possible. I wouldn't have been happy, though, if I had paid full price for Devil Summoner and then seen it at the price I paid for it.

Right now I wish I did not stop playing console games for over 10 years to play EQ1 and WOW. :very_sad: That way I would not have to pay so much to get a copy of a game I want to play.

Reminds me of how I got DDS1 box set when it originally came out for retail, now its like $110 complete sometimes.. ;) I wouldn't sell it for the world, though. XD

"Hitgaming Video Games"

These clowns sell everything overpriced. Once it's listed as "unavilable" on Amazon they tend to double their prices on Atlus titles. Dont believe it. This game doesnt fetch that much brand new. Go do an ebay search or hit up any of the other more reputable online gaming sites if you want it. Or make friends here and on other gaming sites and have them keep an eye out for you if online stores and local stores fail you.

I mostly use ebay as a price gauge for these things. Now a days it appears to sell around 30-35 dollars. For the first one....I guess the price isn't that bad. However, if this were the second one I'd pay at least 50-60 for that game, since it's superior in every respect to the first one.

I remember Game Stop had copies of it new for $10 a few months back. The day I went to pick it up, they had no new copies so I luckily found a used one for $15 is perfect condition. I thought that was pretty weird I haven't seen any copies in any game stores, but then again, the Shin Megami Tensei franchise is getting immensely popular.

hmm... 97 bucks for RK vs. SA, eh? That's a bit rich even for my blood, the guy who trekked all the way back to his alma mater to pick up the last copy of RK vs. SA on the shelves at a game store nearby (for about $35).

I got mine brand new at Game Crazy about 8 months ago.
Had one left in the store and for some reason the price went from 39.99 new to 19.99 for like 2 days, then to 29.99.

RK Vs SA was pretty decent, but damn... RK vs KA just friggin BLEW IT AWAY. I still remember having such a blast with RK vs KA, it was the first time I played an action RPG that I enjoyed immensely.

I just get this game from a local store here in Mexico, at 35 USD. It's used, but almost mint. By the way, it's a good game!

Hmm.. Actually I don't think it did. Only the second one did as far as I know. I consider the second one to have one of the best pre-order bonuses out of all that atlus has done.

It was just the plush mostly, but it was also the first I know of that was numbered. I have #40000 exactly. There have been things earlier before that such as Persona 2: EP which had holographic stickers on them.

Ahh... Mine is in the 18000s...

I checked my Persona 2, and it didn't have anything except the bonus CD with trailers, etc.

I DID get the lenticular card and memory card stickers with Thousand Arms, sadly I was 5 years too late for the mail-in offer for the soundtrack and cd-rom stuff...

A reprint of both of the Raidou games would be great. Nothing but gouging resellers now like there were for Nocturne and DDS some time back.

Is DS1 worth spending a lot of money on? I heard DS2 was superior in every way and that people shouldn't feel too put off if they don't get their hands on the first one since the games are stand-alone anyways...Is that a opinion anyone shares here?

I kind of want to get DS1, but I don't really wanna spend more than the price I spent on DS2 back in May >_>

I'm really nervous about these games beng priced so insanely high. I don't own either of the Devil Summoner games yet and I want to eventually, but I really don't want to pay $90+ (or even $50+) for them. That said, i'd kick myself if I didn't buy now and the priced rose even higher.

Worse would be if I bought the games at these prices then Atlus reprinted them. =\

I honestly can't wait until digital distribution solves these dilemmas for good. I can forego a physical disc and manual if it means I never have to worry about scarcity-inflated prices again.

Those crazy prices in Amazon put me off too .

Fortunatly I picked it up some 2 months ago used on Gamestop for $20 , the case was a bit cracked, but it even had the original manual so I'm perfectly happy :)

Seriously if people still think that everything Atlus puts out is rare and hard to find then you deserve to get ripped off as those days have pretty much passed since persona 3. That is not to say that some things are not put out in very limited edition (Growlanser H+W and Metal Saga comes to mind) but it is hard to consider either Devil summoner game hard to find especially when I can still see copies on the shelves at stores like Gamestop. Even DS2 with the Plushie doll is not really rare considering that they must have made around 40,000 plus copies of the game (I base that on mine being #36,622). My advise is to wait and look around. Devil Summoner 2 is a fun game but not at any price above forty dollars.

^Yeah even Nocturne and DDS are now being sold for around $30.

But here you can get Soulless Army for $20 at GameStop.

Are you serious?! :O

Oh jeez, and here I was so proud of the amount I spent on those three games *facepalms*

I am Canadian, so I probably would've spent more, but if it really was only that much, I feel so ripped off now Dx

I kind of wish I knew what games were considered rare then. I think I saw Metal Saga before...

I kind of wish I knew what games were considered rare then.

Those were pretty rare before their last reprint in 2008, I'm not saying that they are everywhere but at least they aren't being sold for $60+.

Don't feel bad, I bought my first copy of SMT: Nocturne for $70 without the original case or soundtrack. I should've felt ripped off but the game turned out to be really awesome that I even bought one of the 08' reprints.

Persona 2 joined Persona as being one of the most impossible priced ones, I'm glad I snatched one cope from the 05' reprint.
