I have the DS angle covered, Atlus is pretty good to DS. I'm just curious what's been enjoyed by Atlus on PSP. I'm looking to get one around August when Dissidia: Final Fantasy is released as a pack-in with PSP. I plan to destroy all as Shantotto, BTW.
Got my eye on Crimson Gem Saga and Hammerin' Hero for now, but curious what else is out there.

Keeping my eye on this thread, because I am doing the same thing. I am getting that bundle and then picking up all the games I missed. I am going to get
Yggdra Union
Riviera - I have never played Riviera before
All of the Metal Gear Solid games
God of War
Patapons
Crisis Core and Final Fantasy Tactics
Persona
Hammerin Hero
Crimson Gem Saga
Growlanser if it comes out here
Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman - if that is still coming here
That is all I can think of right now. I am sure there is more.

NIS America picked up that one. Their Disgaea port/expansion for the PSP is nice, too, and I'm waiting for the Disgaea 2 PSP release.
I'm definitely waiting for Persona, but there are plenty of Atlus games that look worthwhile on the PSP (unfortunately I've been overloaded with games for the last few months and haven't picked up any of them).
For other games, I've enjoyed Warhammer 40K: Squad Command and Jeanne d'Arc. Final Fantasy Tactics is nice for a bit of nostalgia, since the original was the first SRPG I played.
For other types of games, as a fan of the Tekken series Dark Resurrection is a solid entry, and Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? is a nice 2.5D side-scrolling platformer.

I wonder if I should just wait for the PSP2Go!PowerLevel4000 or go ahead with the original plan. Was that ever a debate for you?

Well, now I suppose the question would be when this stuff shows up on PSP Go. I'm not too keen on 100% Digital Distribution, but seeing as prior models ate battery life fast and loading times were deplorable, I don't think I can overlook the potential of avoiding that, so hopefully Atlus is getting on board there.
Also, Persona 3 isn't a PSP game and I has it already. Not goin' back to it til all my other PS2 SMT titles have first cycle completed. Still have Raidou 2 and Digital Devil Saga to go.

I definitely second Disgaea, even though NIS was in charge of the PSP release.
I don't think I've played an Atlus-only title for the PSP yet. I will when Class of Heroes comes out though.

Atlus hasn't been too open to digital distribution so far. I don't know if Sony will do something to change their mind with the new PSP. I'd also add there are definite downfalls to the whole thing. One example is that I recently purchased Jeanne d'Arc for $5 new in a store when it costs $20+ on PSN for the download version.
I think battery life isn't really an issue on the UMD systems, except possibly the 1000, which still lasts several hours. Then again, my expectations may be lower because I grew up trying to play the 16-bit handhelds that were beaten out of the market by the black-and-not-really-white gameboy. There's nothing quite like the cases of batteries a Lynx would eat up.
Loading times are dependent on the game, and some of the games that had those issues only had real problems with them on the 1000 hardware. Most of the games never have problems with this, probably because most of the developers have been dealing with disc-based home consoles for over a decade.

I get PSP jollies from NIS, but I' like to see the magna carta PSP release make it state-side. and Baroque wouldn't be bad, it would actually be better to play on the go than sitting in my bedroom, going down a tower to die; I love it but it get's old, I just don't have the drive for it.

I am almost finished playing Riviera: The Promised Land. If you like a good turn based RPG that is extremely linear with lots of voice acting and a semi-decent plot, pick it up. XD I totally love this game and have been trying to get through it so I could play Yygdra Union, also on the PSP by Atlus, in the same universe.

Crimson Gem Saga is truly worth a purchase, in my opinion. And yes, I'm a Disgaea junkie as well, so I'm awaiting that as well.
I haven't seen Riviera or Jeanne d'Arc yet, but from what I read here they are both good buys?

Sorry Atlus, I will not support anything that is digital download only, and I encourage everyone else to do the same.
This PSP case with download couple rubbish is a slap in the face to consumers.

What does this mean?
And I like digital distribution. I buy more DD games than I do disc based ones these days. Especially with XBLA and the PSN being so good lately. And lets not forget Steam or any of the other reputable download services for the PC.
And yeah, I hope products continue to be offered on disc and digitally but unlike you I like the trend to digital.

I really, REALLY doubt that P3P will be DD only, specially if you see a screenshot of the main menu on famitsu. Why would it have a "Data Install" option if it doesn't use an UMD?
EDIT: well, although after seeing the main page of the game in japanese I'm not so sure. If someone who knows japanese can translate this I will be grateful. It's the info for the game. (http://p3p.atlusnet.jp/product/index.html)
and about the DD, it depends of the game, there are games that are made for that, but others... not so much

He means that practice of releasing a game as "download only" but putting copies in stores as if it were a retail copy. So a store would have a PSP case with a game you thought would be a physical copy, and then you open it up and get a download code and nothing to put inside your case.

It says that the downloadable (the psn) version and the physical copies will have a simultaneous release.

I had to go all over town and the pick it up and shake it a few times upside down to even find a copy of FFT: War of the Lions. I did seem to find plenty of copies of Crimson Gem Saga and R-Type Command, though. Gonna pick those up in the weeks to come, but right now I have enough to keep me occupied.
Actually, I had enough on DS to keep my occupied to. Persona and Scribblenaughts will be the only other things I pick up for the rest of this month, though.
I did end up getting the Dissidia PSP Pack and I've been hooked on that game since I got it. Crisis Core is growing on me, I just hate this level with the crappy stealth scenario. I want all materias, dang it, stop making me want to start over!
Also got Monster Hunter Freedom United, MGA2 and as mentioned, FFT. Downloaded MGS, FFVII and Castlevania SOTN as well. More than enough to do now, heh. I just need a 8 GB card now, the 4GB I bought only has 200 MB left. The data installs and PSX games ate this card.
Its actually depressing how hard it is to find some games for PSP. Sony really needs to step up their game on UMD Legacy if they expect PSP Go to work out. Plus they'd be doing people a tremdous favor for some of the games that are hard to find.
I couldn't find the first installments of MGA or MGS Portable Ops, though. Looks like PSP may end up being more online shopping that in-store shopping.

I don't think that one's inevitable for PSP, considering its made from the ground-up for DS.
So far the PSP library is at:
Dissidia Final Fantasy
Persona
Jenne D'Arc
Crisis Core
Phantasy Star Portable
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Final Fantasy Tactics: War or the Lions
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
I think I'm set for a little while, but I'll be looking for more once a few of them are completed.

PSP is not region coded, so you can play games from across the world... Rising Star and Ignition seem to do a good job in England; Ghostlight and Nobilis are also publishers to keep an eye on in the EU...

The PSPGo came out today, and I've been considering buying one (never owned a PSP before so don't have old UMD's to worry about). Atlus has several good offerings on PSP but so far only one (Persona PSP) is on the PSN. Good Atlus PSP games being one of the main reasons I'm considering a PSPGo in the first place, do they have plans to put their other games on PSN? Specifically looking at Class of Heroes and Crimson Gem Saga, but any info would be appreciated.
And before anyone says to just go get a PSP-3000 and not worry, I prefer the design and form factor of the Go and with it's 16 gig built in memory, it's close enough in price to a similarly equipped 3000. There are other reasons, but those 2 are the best imo.

I can understand your preference for the the aesthetic of the PSPGo, but seriously, get a PSP-3000. The only remotely reasonable arguement from a functionality standpoint for the Go is that you don't have to carry around UMDs, but there are ways around that for a 3000.

I'm not one to do anything to my consoles that isn't recommended by the manufacturer, assuming that's what you're referring to there. Personal preference. If it's not, how do you get UMD games legally onto a memory stick? I'm curious, because not having owned a PSP before I'm a bit in the dark, but what I'd read up on didn't mention anything like that. Not that you can believe everything you read on the internet :)
Not that it's going to sway me into getting a 3000 anyway. If the games I want, or at least a large majority of them, don't pop up on PSN then I just won't get a PSP at this time. Which brings me back to my original question. Hopefully one of the helpful Mods will toss some info our way re: Atlus games on PSN.

If the game is released on the PSN, you can download it to your memory stick and use it in any PSP. Otherwise, yeah, you'd have to install custom firmware.

I'm pretty sure it has been mentioned at least a few times and the reason why it hasn't been released here is because the source code was lost or something like that.

Really? A PSP 3000, get a 2000 series so you do not have to deal with the "shadow images" that some games have. Do not forget that the PSPgo has a 16 Gyg hard drive, which you have to buy separately for any of the UMD PSPs. I bought a 4 Gyg for around $25 last year, so you might want to consider that into your decision making process. Also, Phantasy Star Portable is available on the PSN, as well as the overlook rpg: Brave Story. That game will not disappoint..
