View Full Version : My first six hours with the game

Just thought some of you may find my tale of the events that happened in the short time I've had DS2 entertaining.

So I reserved the game at Game Stop, but didn't get it until Thursday because it just so happened that they didn't get one box in on Wednesday, which just happened to contain the DS2 copies. When I finally got it they said they held a certain one for me because Raiho looked like he was waving in that box and the others weren't *face plants*. They also offered me one in which the game was upside down, but I turned them down. On my way home I looked at the receipt and noticed they forgot to deduct $5 from my reserve so I had to turn back and go get it.

I had been at school, which means I got home late, so after getting the game, taking a shower, and figuring out how open the freaking thing without doing any damage and saying the case to display my Raiho, it was after 8:30PM and I had to get up to go to work at 5:30AM the next day. Instead of going to bed like I should have I decided to play just a little of the game and save after going to see my favorite character since I assumed after the opening scenes and tutorial it would be just a short walk. Nope! However, before I even started the game my PS2 seemed like it really had a hard time with the game and I stared at a black screen for nearly a minuet before the Atlus logo popped up. Now, as you soon find out in the game the eccentric mad scientist isn't at Konnou-ya's but I decided to press on, ignoring the time. I really enjoyed the events that followed to find him (even if my favorite option was removed from the previous game. *sob*) but I ended up going to bed way to late and didn't really sleep because I was so excited from the game's awesomeness; I felt like I was going to die at work because I was so fatigued.

I really hate how I'm the type of person who can miss really simple things. I was at Dahn and Akane's hometown and was stuck with no idea what to do, only figuring out I'd completely overlooked the two little girls you need to speak to in order to hear the song (Aww, Raidou has a nice singing voice!) . It would've been nice if I'd noticed the talk icon nearly an hour before that instead of screwing around in the area with the wells!

Yesterday I nearly had a panic attack. I was in Mannen-Cho, just running around, when all of a sudden the game freezes on me, something a game has NEVER done on my PS2 (it's kind of old, but...). After an obscenity I reset the game and I haven't had anymore issues, but it's in the back of my mind.

...Yeah, that's my story and I might even add more later depending on my blunders. Sorry if it was a waste of time.

Haha yeah, those little girls I didn't see either. Eventually Tae said something about girls and I saw one of them and I went up and talked to her, and all the sudden she starts talking to another girl and I was like "wtf?" and there she was, perfectly blending in with the rest of the environment.

I don't know why, but those girls were hard to see.

By the way, what option was it that was removed? Isn't everything still there from the first one?

Just the "Chat with Victor" option from the first game where he'd tell you something different each chapter. I thought it was interesting to hear. *shrugs* Especially when he mentions how he experimented on himself and damaged his vision; I wanted him to go into greater detail about it.

I was a little mad at first that you didn't have that option but one to ask for a fusion count (I thought it was useless) but I guess Every seventh fusion there's a chance to get a Fiend or another special demon.

Really? I thought it had to do with moon phase, since every time he did something special during fusion it was always full/new/half moon phase with me.

^From what I've heard from quite a few people there's actually quite a few factors in this game which can lead to an "off" fusion.

Its the only way you get Fiends and Evil type demons. And during those fusions Victor will ask for 3 random things (Stuff like Pearl, Sapphire, Onyx etc).

And did I mention that there's no level restrictions on fusing Fiends and Evil demons?

I just triggered one the other day after an "Oh, sh**" moment when the White Rider showed up and it was HILARIOUS how Victor got so overly excited and even insults you slightly because he's so eager to try it. How I did it was During a New Moon I went to the Gouma-den and first fused that one Frost demon you fight with in the tutorial, which was fusion #6. On that same visit I then was going to fuse a Raiju, which would be fusion #7, which triggered a Fever Fusion. I only had two out of three gems but I got my White Rider, which feels a bit like cheating since he's like 20 levels higher than me.

I've only put in a couple hours, and without the aid of a walkthrough/FAQ it's an interesting ride. Is it bad if I'm getting back into my old grindy-combat habits? I'm also learning I don't trust demons in the "real" world, for no reason other than sheer paranoia and indoctrination from other games, so that's something...

P.S. Apparently, Giant Bomb might be doing an Endurance Run (http://www.giantbomb.com/endurance-look-devil-summoner-2/17-649/) for this game. I would have posted it in its own thread, but apparently, I have to level up to get that privilege. (Not that I'm complaining too much, I assume it's to weed out spambots and douchebags.)
