Avatar question...

Is there any reason we can't use animated avatars?

I mean, I would love to use this (http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t270/FoxFanatic1995/DADDY.gif) as my avatar...

I would think that it's because some people (me included) have terrible internet connections and animated avatars put too much drain on systems.

Plus they're just needless loading.

On top of which, many people (myself included) find animated avatars to be simply distracting at best, and downright annoying at worst. :|
