Is there any reason we can't use animated avatars?

I mean, I would love to use this (http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t270/FoxFanatic1995/DADDY.gif) as my avatar...

I would think that it's because some people (me included) have terrible internet connections and animated avatars put too much drain on systems.

Plus they're just needless loading.

On top of which, many people (myself included) find animated avatars to be simply distracting at best, and downright annoying at worst. :|

I think it is possible to have animated avatar.But it depend on the site,there are sites that accept that kind of feature.I am not sure if atlus accept animated avatar.

Not sure what exactly your asking. In terms of content of avatars, most whatever is fine, as long as it's not offensive, obscene, etc. In terms of using images directly off the internet, that shoold be possible as long as you're using "Option 1" when choosing your avatar. Obviously you'll need to link directly to the image.
