View Full Version : Anyone Else Pick This Up Before RKvtSA?
I'm waiting to break this badboy open till I have the cash/time to pick up and beat the first one, but dang was this impossible to resist picking up...
Just out of curiosity, how much would I have to worry about spoilers for the first game if I were to get tempted and crack open this game first? I heard something about it maybe not being too bad, but I don't overly trust the source...

Honestly, I'd play the first one before diving into the second one. While the stories aren't connected, there are a lot of moments in the game where the characters will talk about "hey you remember me?" or "remember when..." or "you still remember where that place is right?" However, the game will give you the option of "no, I'm sorry I forgot" or whatever along those lines to help you further, that being for those who haven't played the first one.
There is also the issue of game mechanics, if I were to play the vastly improved second game first, and then go backwards the gameplay mechanics that were improved (but gone now) would probably annoy me a lot, since it's almost like giving someone a dishwasher for a year, and then taking it away, it would suck because you have to do more work now. It's basically the same idea behind that analogy. Personally I'd probably get annoyed with the first game moreso.
That's not to say the first game is THAT bad or anything, but you'll appreciate the second game much more if you played the first one. Plus I think it gives the game a more personal feeling too, because of how the characters will refer sometimes to the earlier game (it doesnt happen often), it makes you feel like you really are friends.

Yep, I'm gonna be playing DS2 first. I wanted to get the RKvsSA when it came out but I was playing Persona 3 at the time and figured I could get it later. And look where I am now! :(
