I've been playing a little bit more of Nocturne, a little bit of Tactics Ogre, and I keep trying to play Kartia but I cannot stand the character
designs in the game, which keeps turning me off. I've never been a fan of that person's artwork, and I'll never really be one.

I've also been playing some of the new Phoenix Wright, and some more Blue Dragon. I'm on disc 3, but I still don't care about any of the
characters. The main reason I'm playing the game is to get achievements and to beat it. It's really sad that the characters are annoying
as hell, since the gameplay is actually pretty decent.

Animal Crossing... STILL.

Animal Crossing is the most soul-crushing, depressing game I have ever played.

I have Persona 3 on hiatus.. still.. because my dorm doesn't really have a comfortable place to sit while playing the PS2 for over half an hour or so. I'm going to try to grind through it over Thanksgiving break, most likely.
So right now, Front Mission 1st, DQ Heroes: Rocket Slime (almost done with this), and Riviera (DS).

RayFoxSith
11-07-2007, 07:42 AM
How is front Mission, Mimi?

Futomimi
11-07-2007, 07:52 AM
Awesome, but I have to admit that I f*cking suck at it. It's the first FM title that I've ever played, and it's been years that I've even ever really gotten into a tactical RPG, so...

The wanzer customization is much more in-depth than what's there in the NIS cookie cutters that have been flooding the market lately. The story so far has been pretty minimalist and the cutscenes are short, but I don't play games for story, so that's fine by me. Plus giant robots.
I would recommend it.

RayFoxSith
11-07-2007, 07:54 AM
Yeah, I heard the game can be a tad difficult because it expects too much out of the player.

Futomimi

Who and the what now? I am going into this game blind.

RayFoxSith
11-07-2007, 10:26 AM
In the game there's four treasure chests that if you open one of them triggers the game to not give you one of the ultimate weapons, the Zodiac Spear. I only know that there's a chest right across from Old Dalan's place and on the Phon Coast that does it. It's a stupid gimmick Square-Enix put in for people to replay the game if they ever do it.

Once I'm done with that I might start up the SMT: Nocturne I (finally) bought a few days ago.
That game is so frickin' hard to find, and when I found it it was $59.99 used. It's a good thing that it came with everything (even that bonus soundtrack). :D

Delition

I always thought the soundtrack with that game was great. So was the pre-order bonus soundtrack with DDS2. Great CDs. Great soundtracks.

Back on topic, I've found myself playing Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, along with Silent Hill: Origins (It's a Silent Hill game...don't expect anything different), and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (It's alright, but I don't feel as if it was worth the money yet...I'll keep playing it, though).

What? Why!

Ugh. Good thing I'm a depressing person. We go hand in hand!

You start out the game in debt, and you're forced into being basically an indentured servant. By a cute little raccoon.

Then while you're paying your debt, you get to be surrounded by more cute little animals that will constantly rag on your house by passive-aggressively complimenting it, then mentioning how small it is. Also, a board of people you will never meet in the game apparently break into your house while you aren't playing, judge you by your taste in interior decor, and then send you a snooty letter with some score based on arbitrary rules that are never outlined in the game.

So these HRA people and cute little animals basically peer pressure you into buying a bigger house, putting you into even more massive debt. So after all of this, what do the animals do the next time they bring up your house? INSULT YOU AGAIN. Lather, rinse, repeat until you have the biggest house possible, the best HRA score, a full museum, and a bunch of adorable but judgmental ass animals for friends, or until you feel like shooting yourself in the face and sell the game.

Wow. I never looked at it like that. Except I've never had animals insult my house. They just ask if I got an extension and cheer for me. And my HRA letters aren't snooty at all. It's not too hard to get nice letters from them.

I always thought it was a cute little game to play when I need a break from killing things.

I was not a fan of the gambit system. I also was not a fan of the character customization options. It was too easy to cover the entire board - and the difference between the armor types and weapon types were marginal at best.

But, I never beat FFXII, I'm about half way through. So it might get better. I might finish it one of these days.

Nah, I liked it. It was nice to be free from having to micromanage every trivial encounter, party buffs, healing and all the other tedious elements present in most rpg's.

Plus you can just turn it off if you don't like it, so what is there to complain about?

It makes the game more easier to play, but I remember someone commenting (and it is kinda true) that you can beat the game by just using the thumb sticks with the gambits.

I actually thought the same thing about God of War. Everybody kept praising the boss battles when there was only like, 3 of them, and only one of them was trully above average. Ares was a pretty big disappointment IMO.

The only excuse I can come up for Half life, is the fact that I played it too late. I'm sure when it first came out, it did alot of the things that you see in FPS games today first.

I think the reason why it got so much praise was because of the introduction. Wherever I see footage, or whenever I heard people talking about it, they'd always mention the introduction to the whole experience.

That's really the only thing Half Life had that other FPSs didn't, at that time.

Apollon, imo, Kakizaki.

Exactly. My level 70 Survivalist was easily doing around and over 2200 points worth of damage with Apollon, and was scoring around 500 points per hit on multihit. He was equipped with an Arc Drawer. I started a second Survivalist as a farming mule with some secondary attack features. It will be interesting to have both utilizing maxed out Apollon.

Seriously. I was using my standard team of LP in front and SAM in the back, just went in fully healed and boosted, pretty sure I went with chasers with my L. Mind you, I had the best swords on my L and P I believe, and a pretty strong bow on my Surivalist. It was actually a little too easy for a final boss imo, but i know the postgame stuff is no joke. Fire Emblem has a habit of making paladins practibly invincible.

I think you're refering to the fact that nearly every Jeigan character happens to be a Paladin. Great to have as tanks in the beginning, but they eat up exp for all the other characters, not really worth using since once the other characters catch up, they often have much better stats.

As for Paladins themselves, yeah they're great, excellent movement and very versatile (especially in PoR where you can decide what extra weapon they wield upon promotion.) Unfortunately, they don't take a hit quite as well and their resistance isn't the best either (IMO anyways.)

However, they made archers powerful......

Probably because of all the new flying units.

Eternal Sonata. So far the dialog and story have been laughably bad. The little excerpts about Chopin's life are nice though. I have really been enjoying his compositions.

The battle system has definitely grown on me. But, the bottom line is that the game is far to easy. The lack of difficulty also makes the way that the game goes about gradually introducing new features into the battle system very annoying.

Waiting till the last 1/3 of the game to introduce interesting battle mechanics was a big mistake. It seems like most players would have gotten sick of the repetitive battle mechanics and lack of challenge before reaching that point in the game.

I have heard that the difficulty increases a bit on a new game +. I haven't decided if I want to go that route yet, but the fact that you can skip the vapid cutscenes is a plus.

Right now I'm playing "Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure" for the Genesis. I'm going to switch over to Castlevania: Bloodlines in a bit. Beat Splatterhouse 2 yesterday.

I beat Portal yesterday. Still working on Half-Life 2. Gonna try the bonus maps on Portal soon.

If the Suns play anything like they did against the Lakers recently, it's over for the Clippers.

Beat MGS3 on Normal yesterday and beat Ico today(so short yet so sweet). Playing Disc 2 of MGS3 now. Just got the best time in all the stages of Snake vs. Monkey. Going to try to get the top scores in both Duel modes, beat MG 1&2, and then replay MGS3 on Extreme before I move on to something else probably.

Right now I'm playing "Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure" for the Genesis.

I used to LOVE that game when I was younger. Buster jumps insanely high. I actually beat the game years ago. As much as I liked Dizzy and destroying everything in my path they gave him absolutely next to NO jumping abilities...good times it was :).

I finally beat Ninja Gaiden for the NES. The whole "die against any final bosses, get sent back to stage 6-1" thing always pissed me off to the point of not playing it, but I finally stuck it out. It was a lot easier than I remember it being, but then again I remember it being an absolute terror to play when I was younger.

Haha I know... My friend swore up & down that it was the best game EVAR, so I got it for 10 bucks on eBay & DO NOT LIKE.

Luminous Arc (yeah it takes me forever, for every ONE game I am playing, there are FIVE calling my name. I am trying to stick this one out with Arc instead of falling into my usual routine of playing a slew of different games on different systems at the same time.) <---how I look after playing multiple games in one night...

OH! Almost forgot... Shenmue II PAL version on my DC. I beat the first one multiple times, so this will be interesting. Got a mint condition SII game from Ebay for 50 bucks. Better be worth it because it's the same price of buying a first gen Xbox and a copy of the stateside game.

Luminous Arc Make sure that you get Cecil's heart maxed out before she changes. I don't want to spoil anything else though. Just make sure you get it maxed so you don't end up like me and have to start over because you have one missing extras section picture and 40 hours playtime.

For now I'm playing a combination of Drawn to Life, Heroes of Mana (which I think is an excellent game with splendid artwork), and Final Fantasy XII - Revenant Wings. I haven't started Final Fantasy XII yet, but I think I might so that I understand Revenant Wings better.

There doesn't seem to be any important connections between the two stories. It is pretty easy to infer the relationships that the characters had in FFXII from the text in RW.

But regardless, you should be playing FFXII because it is an awesome game that is far superior to FFXII:RW.

Just because of internet problems? Come on, the game itself is still really good.

FF XII
P3 (can't get interested enough to finish really)
Super Mario Galaxy (what I play the most)
FPR

and I am thinking about buying DQVIII....

No, because IW has already patched both the 360 and PC versions multiple times. They don't have any of the problems the PS3 version has. We've gotten ONE minor patch, and it fixed NOTHING. They really ####ing dropped the ball with the PS3 version.

The first Phoenix Wright, on the fourth case. Love the trials, I enjoy having to use my head to pick out inconsistencies in testimonies, I just can't stand the crime scene investigating stuff. If I wanted that, I would have played the CSI games

the ONLINE portion is good, and when you cant even play that, what do you have? Nothing fun. I would just like an update or some information that they are working on it, or some connection solution we could use to help fix it. ANYTHING!

The offline portion is really good as well, but after the first playthrough, there's really no reason to go back.

I'm still playing Heroes of Mana. The WiFi is awesome; I'm about 14 seconds away from getting my clear time on the top 5 this week. 8)
