Spoiler

I was playing FES today, and my PS2 froze right during the fight with Junpei and Koromaru. I took out Koromaru, and it froze right after I got Junpei down to less than half of his life.
I'm starting to experience problems with my slim PS2 that I've heard about from many people.

I decided to give Oblivion a try. It's been a long time since I've played a western developed RPG. It's actually a lot of fun, despite a bland battle system.

The free wheeling nature is making me want to dig out a SaGa game. It's been awhile since I played one.

I loved that game. It's kind of funny, the thing that most people usually cite as the scariest scene didn't really bother me; what really got to me was something relatively minor.

For the longest time, whenever I ran by that bust in the hallway I was always somewhat low on sanity, so it always followed me around. While goofing off one time, I had full sanity and it didn't follow me around like I expected it to; that really bothered me.

I bought Final Fantasy XII a few months ago and haven't played it yet. I am hoping to have time to play through it during the summer. From what I've read, it seems pretty good. And, I'd also like to play Revenant Wings (which I also own but haven't started), especially because the characters show up in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2. Yea, on one level, I can agree with that, but in the long run, I discovered that the school aspect really brings the player down to the level of 'average highschool student', which chillingly separates you from the fact that you are 1)trying to save the world and 2)going to die.

There are at least two plays that you can only get if you have a save from Suikoden and Suikoden II. I think some stuff carries over for certain characters (don't remember if this is right or not) and some of the names you used for Suikoden II carry over as well.

Happened to me too. I LOVED the gameplay system, but after 80 hours of it, I just wanted to be done with it. I had planned to do all the hunts and rare monster stuff too, but I just got burned out with running around looking for monsters. I would have LOVED the PAL version's fast forward function.

Cleanse is a spell? I haven't seen that one anywhere on the license grid... Disease sucks, why would they put that #### in that game...

No offense dude, but you complain a lot without seeming to understand quite a few things about the game.

SlaughterX
05-27-2008, 06:45 PM
I spend hours getting to the top of some temple only to fight a boss that is impossible for me to beat because every time he hits one of my characters they become diseased and die after one hit after being revived. Because of this I have to leave the dungeon and find someone who sells the spell, which so far I have had no luck in doing. These things piss me off, so I complian.

What part am I missing here, exactly what doesn't I understand. They don't give you detailed information on what every spell on the grid does, at least not when it comes to magic, I still don't know what renew does exactly... The fact of the matter is, it seems like too many RPGs these days seem to require a strategy guide, or at least some type of information that the game doesn't give you to progress, and I don't like it. There's a lot of like about FF12, but at the same time there are a lot of things that piss me off. For some games like that those things are easy to over look, but when I'm playing a game that is most likely going to take me over 100 hours to complete, these things become maddening.

Kakizaki
05-27-2008, 07:47 PM
I played through XII without looking at a strat guide once -- not until I was trying to finish some bonus stuff. It really isn't that difficult. My god people want ####ing cake walk these days. Honestly Slaughter, I am not trying to rip you, but come on. I am pretty sure there is some equipment that counters/prevents disease. This isn't even the first FF that has had the disease spell.

Sei

^ QFT. FF12 is pretty easy. Wish it had been harder, actually.

SlaughterX
05-27-2008, 08:24 PM
It's not that it's hard, just frustrating at times. The game is too damn long, and I am honestly sick of playing it. I'm sure some part of that is my own fault, my party sucked up until about half way through the game, but I'm not the only one here who has lost interest in this game. It's a fine game, I'm not saying it sucks, but to ignore my compliants isn't fair.

I wouldn't have a problem with disease if there wasn't a boss that inflicted it upon me with every hit. If there were more vaccines in the game this wouldn't be much of a problem, but I have yet to visit a shop that sells them. I have no accesory that prevents it, and I have yet to see a magik shop that sells the cure at the point in the game that I'm at. Honestly, my party is so brolic now that I could probably still beat the guy with out any means of curing that status, but I don't want to have to walk through all that #### again and be wrong.

Maybe I am just losing interest in the genre all together. There really hasn't been a RPG that has really grabbed me since KOTOR. I liked Nocturne a lot, but event hat game had moments where I just got sick of playing it. It really has little to do witht he actual difficulty of the game, sometimes I just over look obvious parts of puzzles, but it still pisses me off. Some of the SMT games are jsut downright cheap. I actually had more trouble with dying in a battle before I could actually take my turn in DDS than with Nocturne.

Anyway I am getting way beside the point here, but the fact of the matter is I am jsut getting sick of playing RPGs that are long as #### and really not that much fun. Frustration does not equal fun for me, it just makes me lose interest and play something else. If I weren't so close to beating FF12 I would have said #### it a long time ago and moved on to something else, but beating this game is long over due.

Yeah but did you wake only to find that your party had traversed a winding dungeon and beaten an end boss by themselves? ;)

P.S. -- I want to know how the main in that party could even attack. If you are pressing a direction, even if the ATB meter is full and they can attack, they will still move in that direction. The character would have been pinned against a wall.

No, it didn't. We have been over this multiple times. Holding up through a winding dungeon and somehow beating it is -literally- impossible. If need be, I have a video capture device, and I'm so sick of your silly antics that I'm actually nutty enough to go through that entire dungeon holding up, and see if it works. When I finally prove you wrong with undeniable proof, will you finally have the balls to admit that you are wrong?

Gen Eric Gui
05-29-2008, 08:49 AM
Damned: I'd like it to end too, honestly.

Hito: I never claimed I beat the whole dungeon asleep. I beat a -part- of it, and the boss. I don't know how much of the dungeon was left TO beat, because I was asleep during that period. I've already admitted SEVERAL times now that it's very likely I was very close to the boss, because it's the only real way the story makes sense. But I don't KNOW because I A: do not have the dungeon layout memorized and B: I have no idea what part of the dungeon I fell asleep in was.

The facts are thus, and this is all I've ever said.

1. I fell asleep somewhere in a dungeon.

2. When I woke up, a boss was dying/dead.

3. This did, in fact, happen.

I never claimed I beat "the whole dungeon"; those are your words, not mine.

Honestly, most of your "problems" with my story aren't from anything that I said actually happened, they're from problems with my story that you are making up because you're searching for problems with it to disprove it.

So once again. I've already admitted that the most likely event was that I was very close to the boss when I fell asleep. I've been saying this over and over now. Is it still impossible for this to happen if the most likely event is that I was a room or two away from the boss?

Nobody thus far, IIRC, has claimed that you "beat the entire dungeon" while asleep. Like Kupo, you love shoving words into peoples mouths and/or trying to misconstrue their words to fit your own argument. I did, however, say that I would go through the entire dungeon like that, not to imply that you did, but to prove that even from the beginning of the dungeon, it is impossible to simply hold up and beat the dungeon. Unless you were specifically at the threshold before the boss, what you describe -is indeed- impossible. Which, if you were indeed at the threshold, then you have no right to complain about your own gambit setup. So either way, you are wrong. To pull an extremely dorky move here, "You're lying, dammit, and I can prove it!"

What the hell, I have the day off, and I'm pretty bored. Seems like it's your lucky day. Though somehow I have a feeling, given your current attitude, that even when I do prove you wrong, you will still be in denial and unable to get over yourself, and will probably make the claim that, despite the proof that your claim is impossible, we are still wrong.

Sei, I love your sig. You are awesome.

Internet tough guy.

Fell asleep when playing p3 and missed the ending. Made me sad.

Id finish it again but my finger is kinda sore from pressing up, might youtube it.

See, like this.

The FFXII thing happened because you can put the game on auto-pilot, and the game will fight all your battles for you. The game will heal you, the game will cast the proper spells for you, will cast Protect and Haste and all sorts of other nonsense if you have the Gambit set to do so. You can effectively set up the game to play by itself, sans your own movement.

If you "just held up" and slept during P3's final boss, you'd either sit and rotate through your battle selection menu, or if you were on auto-battle, you'd die. That game cannot be set up to play itself as effectively as FFXII can.

This is why I called you trolls, and am calling you it again. I know that you know this fact. There is no way you could play through FFXII without fundamentally understanding that Gambits can be set up to take complete control of battle from you.

Hitoshura
05-29-2008, 09:04 AM
On the same side, there is no way you could play through FFXII without realizing that you don't have to configure gambits to have the game play itself. In fact, the game encourages you not to do so. Gambits are for customization, be it autoplay or a lack of tedium.

RayFoxSith
05-29-2008, 09:04 AM
But the Gambits control your actions in battle, not your movements. You cannot tell the game to move you from point A to point B. Some intervention is required to even make it through a dungeon at all. This is where we have trouble understanding what you went through.

Look, #### this. If you don't want to believe it happened, #### it. It did. It happened to me. That's all there is to it.

All of the loading during the missions is really annoying. I actually enjoy watching the Advance Wars type of battles play out when you attack, but Irem could've done some work with the programming so they didn't have to load every single time I attacked.

On Friday, I picked up a copy of Crosswords and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin for my DS. I'm a big fan of AW and it's a great game.

Crosswords is interesting. I wish I could find a copy of the NYT Crosswords for DS. I'm not really sure what to think. I don't know how much I have to play before I unlock some of the advanced puzzles but things seem too easy and some of the clues are just silly. It would be nice if the later puzzles get trickier but I don't know when I'll finally be able to play them.

Ideally, I'd like to find a halfway point (or a little further) between where they are more challenging than what I'm currently doing, and the types of puzzles you find in NYT, whose clues generally try way too hard to be cryptic or clever.

I'm REALLY hoping that the more challenging puzzles don't just remix previously used clues into larger scale puzzles. That would just piss me off.

All characters are equiped with the best equipment available at the moment. (including an Arc Drawer for both my Survivalist and my Troubadour :D ) I also have an Alchemist and a Protector around level 50 sitting on the bench. (Though I think my Protector kinda sucks.)

I'll be trying to complete post game and my Item list before EO2 comes out. Most bosses and FOEs right now are easy as pie, so I guess I shouldn't have too much problem with the main game boss once I find him. Also, I was quite impressed and surprised when I got to the fifth stratum, wow!

Ending was bittersweet, like most of the endgame, but good.

Also, Cozy Okada was involved.

Somehow, I'm not surprised.

Now I am going to start playing the new Live-A-Live translation.

I loved Live-A-Live. It is a very charming game. I played through the old AGTP translation twice already though, so I'm not certain if I'll play the new one just for new fonts, item names and move names.

I just got a PSP a couple of days ago, so I'm giving it some playtime. Darkstalkers and Disgaea, for the most part, with just a sprinkle of Viewtiful Joe.

... and Izuna, of course.

I am almost done with my third character and have been really enjoying it so far. The caveman scenario has been my favorite with all the emotes, tracking stuff by scent and the crazy caveman attacks.

I think they may have tweaked the translation itself a bit, but playing twice is probably enough regardless.

Yep, but unfortunately there is a limit to how many characters a sig can have. So I will only be able to fit around three individual sprites in my sig. I guess I will have to paste them together into one image eventually.

I finished the Bourne Conspiracy tonight it was a pretty fun game from start to finish. The game follows some parts of the book as well as many scenes from the film (lol @ High Moon Studios). Overall a solid game but there isn't enough content to warrant a $60 purchase, IMO. Extra content includes concept art, movie viewer (cut scene), music selection and the option to replay boss fights.

Note: It took me a little over eight hours to finish the game.

Going through Xenosaga II's last few dungeons as fast as I possibly can. Screw the Samaritan Campaigns.

I love the music, I love the battle system, even the general background design.

The character design, voice acting, and story generally suck. I have high expectations for Xenosaga III to have the best of I & II.

Just started on Wizardry 8. I'm still not sure about my party, I think it's the third one I make. :?

Though most of my free time still goes to Etrian Odyssey. I'm currently exploring floors 27 and 28, and done with most of my rare drops. I should have my complete item compendium before EO2. 8)

I also decided to continue my FES game a little, though I'm still very early in the game. (May, with boosted stats thanks to my unfinished P3 game) EO has been really hard on my other games, I have a bigger backlog than ever!

(edit : Yellow dragon down! If the others require the same stragegy I should have them all down in no time! But it didn't give me any drop damnit! -_-; )

Hold right trigger, then release it when the outer ring overlaps the inner ring.

I also dont have an HDTV so the text is kinda blurry and hard to read at times.
I had the same problems with LO, Blue Dragon and Dead Rising in particular. These games are made for HDTV.

I'm loving it, but I screwed my self over! I'm at the parts where Lucas fights the angels, and I lost so many lives on the apartement tempest and police fight that I now only have one life left, meaning NO MARGIN OF ERROR.

I'm still working on the last few drops I'm missing in Etrian Odyssey, though a bit less intensively, but I have much less drops left to get than in my last post!

I started playing Luminous Arc yesterday, about an hour and a half in it. I like it more than I thought I would so far. :)

I'm also playing a little Wizardry 8 and Dragon Force(Saturn) on the side and telling myself that I should try to finish Grim Grimoire this weekend. It's a shame that I haven't beaten what I consider to be one of my favorite games.
