I might buy PL for my g/f. I was hoping it was a more straight up adventure game like King's Quest than a puzzler. I have read nothing on it. :?
Definitely puzzles first. It's pretty much what the game is all about. You can't even progress in the game without solving puzzles, and literally everyone has you solving them at one point or another. I actually think it's a good game to pick up for a GF, especially since the really tough puzzles you can try and work out together.

Where the old TG16 ones were closer to Gauntlet, I would say these newer ones (ds & psp) are closer to Diablo or PSO.

Professor Layton.

Has anyone here played the old SFC Front Mission? I remember the game being pretty difficult back in 01'/02', but it's more or less a cakewalk now. I'm not even bothering to upgrade my wanzers much and I'm still sweeping mother ####ers. Also, funds seem to be much more readily available.

Are you playing through Royd's storyline? It is really easy throughout the middle of the game, but the difficulty does pick up towards the end (especially the last few fight).

Kevin's scenario has some extremely challenging fights. I think it will be far more satisfying for you as an experienced player.

Lloyd's story first, Kevin' second. I might actually take a little break between the two though.

But yeah, there are battles that I just remember giving me somewhat of a hard time, and I'm plowing through them now with half a party. Hopefully Kevin's storyline does provide the challenge I remember.

Wizardry: TotFL on PS2: stuck on B5, 'Waterfall'. Reached the bottom and it's flooded.

It's definitely harder than EO on the whole, but there's a lot more tactics to exploit(namely the Team Actions; Assist Shot + Front Line = nothing gets through).

Also bouncing between F.E.A.R. Extraction Point(almost done, final level) and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey on PC.

Played thru a bit more Izuna Ni today.

Izuna Ni Spoiler-ish Things Ahead

I can leave the first village now, with the option of heading either to the North, or the East.

I'm not leaving just yet though, as Mitsumoto and Shino-sis are now available for play (I can make teams now!). I want to see how they perform in game, so I'm gonna run thru the first Dungeon for a bit.

I'm currently testing Shino-sis, with her... Yo-yo? A bit of a ranged weapon, though you can use it up close as well. It actually works quite nicely.

First off, a brief bit about the Dungeons thus far. Instead of being on a floor with walls around you like the first game, the characters walk around on raised platforms.

Using the Yo-yo you can hit enemies on nearby platforms (I assume this will work with Shuriken and Kunai as well, anything that can be thrown more than likely). It also passes thru enemies, so if you can line them up... on a narrow platform for instance... you can strike multiple enemies at once (I assume this would cause the Yo-yo to wear out faster).

It's a nice little toy. :D

Sad fact: Shino-sis seems to be especially vulnerable to the enemy Ninjas that wander the Dungeons.

End Izuna Ni Spoiler-ish Things

Party consists of:

I kind of wanted to make MZ our Medic and put him in the front so he can die a lot but nah. Maybe later as a joke..

Ar Tonellico, presumably around the tail end of the game.

Pestering from Misha insinuating that Lyner would find her more sexually appealing as a 13 year old girl aside, it's been pleasantly surprising.

Lets see, DMC4 for PS3, I already beat it on normal, then easy, so Il probably beat it on hard eventually. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance because apparently Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn freezes if you try to transfer easy save data, so Iam beating the game again on normal and finally, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2. I just picked it up new for 20 bucks at my local gamestop, pretty lucky for me since Iam sure its more expensive online. Though Iam a bit lost since i never played the first unfortunatly.

Trickery is for postgame. I'd say make that last priority. Smite is amazing, and so is Apollon. You can probably go without putting points in defender, as a maxed Immunize makes you nearly a brokenly unstoppable force. I'd say make Smite top priority.

There's an FOE on floor 1, and with the way they redesigned harvesting and the fact that there's not really a good easy-access chop point, it's already looking to have greatly increased the difficulty of the first one. Haha, not everything. Most of the HP/TP/DEF/ATK up type skills increase the stat by 10% with only one point in, as in, a consistent 10%, not just 10% of whatever the stat is at when you increase it. For example, if you have 700 base HP at level 70, even if you put your very first skill point into HP up, you'll have 770 total HP at level 70.

Also 'Mimi, I haven't messed around with the new classes just yet, trying to get a hang of things so I can start raking in the cash for good gear first. Can't believe there's a friggin FOE on floor 1, when already one of the normal enemies on floor 1 can one-shot any member of my party.

Kaki, if you can I'd get it, just in case we don't get it over here, it starts out pretty tough but there are already skill translations and Zaraf has maps of floors 1-5 up. Even if you don't play it right away, I'd expect some walkthroughs to be up in the coming weeks.

Oh, by the way, if you guys didn't know, they got rid of Immunize. :D

Olethros: While your avatar is a tad big, may I ask where it's from?

It's Destruction from the Sandman.

It's not wide, so it'as no big deal.

Inzaghi is correct; He's the prodigal sibling of the endless.

If the avatar is too big, I can change it; no biggie. Maybe I'll use the same one I chose for Arlus...I kinda like that one better anyway.

Super Smash Bros Brawl! We went to the midnight opening, stuffy as #### in there with a bunch of people breathing and ugh..

Entered the tournament, and failed horribly because we were using the ####ty Wii motes, and I had the misfortune of getting randomly picked up with King Dedede. It was fun either way though, met some dude who loved the PW series talked about it, and also saw a childhood friend there. Glad I went overall, good ####.

Currently playing SSBB with some friends unlocking characters, we got Ness, Marth and Snake so far. I have to be up for work by 8AM...

I just finished beating Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on normal, that way it wont freeze up when I play Radiant Dawn. Since I lent it to a friend, Iam gonna have to wait till hes done with it, so in the meantime Iam playing Devil May Cry 4 a 3rd time, and Iam also playing Radiata Stories. Also, I might start playing Folklore again, I havent since my dad has been playing it, but hes gotten alot farther than me.

Like Al, went to the SSBB tourney.

Most of my friends and I got paired against each other, so we didn't get to play any new people. Lost against a friend of mine in the first round, fight went to sudden death, me playing Lucas, I wasn't too comfortable with him and I got tagged.

We got back and unlocked all the characters after about 2 hours, played it for the rest of the night. Did some wifi today, fun stuff.

Me and my buddies were laughing so hard because the runner-up was talking big about how he won previous Smash Tournies and lost miserably to the guy who won. Not that winning on a completely random basis is something to boast about, still lol'd.

Front Mission DS. I'm only on the 4th mission and it's already awesome.

Front Mission DS was quite good; and actually gave me a bit of a challenge for a change which I really enjoyed.

3rd Stratum. B11F..

The so called "King of the Jungle" was a pushover.

Also Metroid Prime Hunters.. Holy crap didn't think this game would actually be any good. The controls leave you a bit stiff though, you can't be laying down and relaxing while playing this which is a bummer.

Enjoy Vagrant Story Rayfox, some of us can't because they lost their copy :(
I've got the case...with no cd in it lol.

Picked that up purely by accident when I was a newb gamer just from the pretty pictures on the cover lol.

I got it a few months back for $40 at my local importer/game store. I shelved it at the troll boss because I wasn't doing good, but now I might actually get to the end this time.
Shame on anyone who 'loses' their copy.

I just downloaded DoReMi Fantasy (the sequel to Milon's Secret Castle) from the virtual console. This is an excellent platformer. I'm having lots of fun with it.

Gameplay is repetitive, but at least it looks nice :) Nostalgia trip.

I just finished my up-teenth playthrough of noctune.
Then I started playing FFX for no good reason. Though I do have that sega genesis collections thing. Futomimi just gave me the idea to go play the Phantasy star series for a while.
Had them all on genesis, but my system hasen't worked in the past 10 years.
That or CoD4 since I finally got this computer running again and now I have to start back from lvl.1 when I just got it maxed

I'm curious about DoReMi Fantasy. Yazarc, is it a wide scope platefomer like Super Mario World with a world map and a fair share of levels ?

Yazarc

It does have a world map and a fair share of exploration within the levels, but it doesn't have the scope of Super Mario World.

I can say that anybody who enjoys Mario would probably enjoy it very much once they look beyond the cute factor. One interesting thing about it is that not a stitch of it has been translated but the operating instructions are in English so it's easy to figure out what to do and there's not a lot of dialog at all.
