Sorry, I didn't have a lot of time when I posted that.

My family takes in foster kids, and when we figured this new one was stealing from us, the department of social services didn't believe us. In fact they didn't believe us until he stole my PS3, PSP, DS, and Wii. I'm just lucky I hadn't yet bought the 360 I was planning on buying.

It's not as bad as it could be, though - I will get money to buy my stuff back, but social services is such a damn beauracracy.

Still slowly working my way through Theresia as well.

I'm kind of interested in this.

I'm currently near the end of Persona IS. I have all of the legendary weapons and kind of wanted to see Lucifer and Satan, but I don't think I have it in me to level that much more. I might settle for the Hindu trio.

^ I'm really enjoying it so far(Theresia), but I'm progressing slowly as well. It seems that the answers to the puzzles come more easily after taking a little break.

Other than that, I'm about to go fight Zio in Phantasy Star IV. I also played about 15 minutes of DemiKids and I'm not sure I'll be investing much more time in this, the game is quite ugly, even by GBA standards. I'm near the begining of May in P4 and I should probably try out Ar Tonelico 2 and Star Ocean Second Evolution sometime soon since I just got them.

I think I also want to try out some old school Sega CD rpg like Vay maybe, if I find the time. I always wanted a Sega CD as a kid.(more like teenager actualy)

Did a mission for playboy in GTA IV, where I had to snipe some enemies atop a construction site, and clear the site, which was full of Mafia members. I also did Elizabeta's "Snowstorm" mission.

Infinite Undiscovery. Got it as a holiday gift. Wow, what a sub par game, I really wanted to like it, but I just can't seem to bring myself to.

Last Remenant. Very underrated game, i'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Yeah, it took me a while to get used to the camera and find settings that were manageable. I mostly used the character view for exploring and the classic top down view for battles.

EvilHero
01-22-2009, 08:45 PM
What I really want is a way to keep the camera behind the character's back and have it rotate as he turns (just like in WOW and other MMOs.) I have to drag the mouse to either end of the screen to rotate it everytime I turn, its a huge pain.

I like moving around with the WADS, not a big fan of the Diablo style clicking. Do you know if its possible?

Foryth
01-22-2009, 09:19 PM
I'm not quite sure, I mostly used the point and click way myself. I remember there were a lot of options so I'm almost certain there must be some settings combination that would allow you to do that, but I only remember that it took me a lot of fiddling to finaly find settings that suited me. It's also almost necessary to switch between the three camera modes(exploration, character and strategy) though, the camera work is just that bad.

My best suggestion would be to wait for a moment where you have the patience to fiddle with the settings and test them by yourself.

EvilHero

Ah, I see. Looks like I won't be able to play this like the first one.

This and the first game are my first real experience with a D&D game. Normally, I wouldn't put as much effort into, but i've been getting into some real D&D sessions and reading Salvatore's work recently and its gotten me really interested.

Foryth
01-22-2009, 09:33 PM
If you can get past the camera (after a while you should get used to it and it won't really be a problem), I think you'll find the main campaign to be very interesting. I was quite pleasantly surprised myself, you actualy get to interact a lot with your party members compared to other PC rpgs(except maybe for the old Bioware/Black Isle games), it's also the closest to D&D 3.5 I think.

As for "What I'm currently playing", I started Ar Tonelico 2 this evening to try it out and I'm liking it so far, the 2D graphics are beautiful, the story seems well paced and they changed the battle system enough to make this a new experience.

I also started Star Ocean Second Evoluton. I decided to play as Rena first, since all my previous playthrough of the PSX version were as Claude and I never got really far in Rena's scenario.

Playing Ar tonelico 2. Once the game finishes up giving you all your battle options, the combat can get entertaining (though still quite a bit on the easy side). Interesting choice for a returning character, too. Too bad I ended up locking myself out of the ending I would've preferred. :(

My brother bought me Elminage DS for Christmas, so I started messing in that some. Obviously doesn't have the polish of Etrian Odyssey, but I'd still pick it up if it showed up in English some time down the road. Just picked up the first six premades (Fighter, Samurai, Priest, Thief, Bishop, Mage), instead of stumbling through creation.

I did two main missions in GTA IV.
One was where I had to kidnap a mob boss' daughter, and when you tell her your kidnapping her in the midst of the tour drive, she'll keep distracting you by touching your wheels. I thought that was pretty neat, but what was even funnier was how he shut her up.

The other one was where I had to help one of Niko's war buddies, and chase down this one car where i thad magnetic forces around it O_o. Whatever car that came it's way propelled towards me for some reason.

Is Babe lv22? If so, and keep in mind moon phases affect this, I was able to increase her interest with Nate's bribe skill with the moon at 7/8. Try to use that skill when the moon is half full or more. Let me know if that works.

Dave3
02-02-2009, 11:02 PM
Ah, thanks. That's interesting, Nate's bribe netted me Siren's spell card in the same area. I should have tried it at different phases with Babe as well. Yeah, she's lv22. I'll try that and let you know. I'll have to back track a bit though as I've moved on. I'm trapped in the black market right now.

Kakizaki
02-02-2009, 11:08 PM
^A lot of times the same skills do work in the same area. Just be sure to check both the moon phase and the personality traits of the demons. You can usually use the same skills with success on demons that share personality traits.

Dave3
02-02-2009, 11:21 PM
Yeah, I noticed that to an extent early on that certain skills are useful on demons with shared personalities. I picked up a lot of cards with Mary's Shudder skill earlier in the game. I didn't check to see if Siren and Babe's personalities were similar but they may be. What I didn't take into account as much as I should have were the moon phases. I'll keep that in mind from now on.

On the portable gaming side, I'm almost finished with Star Ocean Second Evolution. My team seriously owns anything the game throws at me in a matter of seconds, so far the wisemen have been quite the little pussies.

On the home gaming side, well I started playing Innocent Sin, but the game has been randomly crashing on me ever since I got to the part with actual battles. So I think I'm probably just gonna go back to playing Nocturne or SMT1. (or some other random game I might feel like playing) That kinda sucks though, since the game seemed quite a blast.

I’ve finally finished P4. I have mixed feelings about it, on one hand it’s a step up from P3, but on the other hand it fails on some areas. While playing P4 I couldn’t help it but compare it with the previous installments, namely P2IS, P2EP and P3. For example, why, whyTF did Atlus think it was a good idea to have a support character in your party? At least Rise is somewhat useful, but Fuuka definitely isn’t. Their voices are annoying as hell and they’re there mainly to tell obvious things like, ‘Only one enemy left’, ‘There are x enemies’, ‘X character is low on health’. I can see all that, thank you very much.

I beat it in 79 hours and I spent the majority of them trying to understand, to find a logical reason, why you party members are unable to change their personae. P2 had all that face-your-other-self stuff and you could change everybody’s personae at will. If anyone has an explanation to this please tell me.

Dungeon crawling was a bit tedious and most songs were tolerable. Although my ears bled the first time I heard the battle theme, I’ve become used to it.

Now for the things I liked, Chie reminds me of Lisa and her relationship with Yosuke is similar to the one Lisa and Eikichi share. Battle system is much more polished than in P3 and the story was quite enjoyable.

Eh? Well I don't toss it around too much but I have said it here and there.

It basically means that the beginning is usually a bunch of blah blah blah that isn't really all that necessary and could probably be done in a more concise fashion, and it takes forever to start getting to the action, but generally once it does you don't have any more superlengthy blah blah blah.

So far it's been my experience that the skill you need can be found on a local demon, so you just need to free up a spot. That's really not an issue at the point I'm at, though I guess I can see it being a pain once I really dive into fusion and have a team of badass custom demons.

Also started Eye of the Beholder on GBA. I got stuck a few times due to hidden doors that I missed, but otherwise the game isn't quite as brutal as I remember it, so I'm guessing either the difficulty was toned down from the original, the new battle system makes it easier, or I just sucked at video games before.

I am on the 6th floor and I really like this game, even though fighting is a bit slow and kind of boring ... I just can't stop playing, I always think "just one more day ... " and then I play for another hour :)

Shin Megami Tensei (SNES)
Savepoints must have been very expensive back then or the developers just wanted to be sadistic .... I just finished the part where you run arround in the mind of the heroin. I had to try it 5 times (3 times I retreated and somehow got back to the savepoint alive, 2 times I died and lost about 2 hours of gameplay :very_sad: )
My biggest problem with this dungeon was the "bind" status and that sometimes 6 really strong enemies show up (in theory they could send me to the game over screen in a single round, if they had concentrated on my human charakters). I wouldn't mind the hard fights, if there just where a few more savepoints on the way :(

I didn't like Trace Memory either! I just couldn't get into it and found it really boring. I guess I should clarify a bit more that Time Hollow doesn't have conversation places that can result in an immediate game over, but you can lose if you over-use the pen while trying to fix the past.

I still liked Trace Memory, but more for just being a decent story with a few devilish puzzles. Hotel Dusk was a lot better at immersing you in the story and making you think about how to interact with the other characters, IMO.

How are you liking Valkyria so far? I'm guessing you like it if you're past Chapter 8. I tend to over-use Engineers and the Stormtroopers too much.

I really love the game. Like, alot. LOL

I beat the first boss in Dead space, chapter 6. A rather fun boss fight, but easy nonetheless.

I'm hoping to start on Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time sometime for the N64.

We ended up beating The House of the Dead: Overkill on the original mode last night, and now I'm trying to go through the Director's Cut version by myself.

Aside from frame-rate issues in the first level and a few times in later levels, the gameplay itself is quite fun. The bosses tend to look kind of generic after a while (most of them are just bulbous fleshy-colored monsters), and listening to Detective Washington talk gets old fast (he swears in 99.5% of his sentences).

On the plus side, there are brains to collect in each stage (10 in original mode, 15 each in Director's Cut), which can lead to unlocking trailers, artwork, and the such. It also comes with a trailer of MadWorld on it which is probably all over YouTube by now. The gameplay (aside from the lag) is fun, but it's hard to die in the original mode, and pretty much the biggest challenge is filling up your combo meter to access the "goregasm" mode.

It's fun, but not great. I might say I like HotD 2&3 Returns better.

Well, I've been playing mainly the Onechanbara games that came out yesterday, and I went ahead and picked up the new House of the Dead...

... I finally completed the first stage on it, and my arm's worn out. Did not realize it would be so much work to point a gun at the screen and shoot things. It didn't seem this bad when I was a kid.

That one was fun, I like "Into The Void" I think which was the one where you were in the Valor, it was cool cuz we got to see new necromorphs those "Twitchers" that was a nice challenge.

@LegacyTyphoon: Yeah I know you could import it but this is the first time in the US, I'd so get a wii or 360 just for that game (most likely a Wii since I like Nintendo)
