At the very end of Folklore. I'm trying to get the Folks you unlock through the Trial Dungeon part of the game. Did it with Keats just have Ellen to go but god damn it's tedious. Also in LoZ:PH, I just got the Spirit of Courage and now I'm trying to beat that god damn shooting range mini-game. I still can't beat the high score. This #### is driving me insane.

I really liked how the handled boss fights in the Answer, plus it was short and sweet.

Does the story in that game get better or does it stay stagnant? I stopped playing halfway through because the story got boring and I didn't want to play the same dungeon twice.

####ing drawing is getting tedious in Final Fantasy 8, but nevertheless, it's a great game. I'm not at the part with Zell, Selphie, and Quistis looking for Squall in Prison.
I didn't much care for how long it took to fill up on draws either, but still, I somehow took a liking to the Junction System, even though it depended on you doing lots of drawing.
The neat things you could do to your characters with it always felt worth it in the end.

It does pick up a bit after Chapter 5. It finally starts wrapping things up and has some decent twists IMO. Chapter 6 & 7 doesn't have you going through the same dungeon twice thankfully. I don't want to spoil it beyond that but I thought mentioning it might give you some incentive. A lot of the quests(both the normal and DLC ones) explain the story/characters even further. It's taking me longer than it would most people to complete the game because I want to unlock all the Folks and power them up completely.

Well, damn. Then maybe my local EB just sucks (the City Centre Mall one). That will learn me to pre-order from the worst video game store in the city. (I live in Edmonton too. 'Tis a small world.)
I actually do recall that the Southgate EB was the only place to get EOII in on the release date. Nothing makes any sense.
My screen name means nothing. It's my name. I tried to come up with an "internet name" to use everywhere, but I'm much more comfortable using my name. Using an alias makes you more likely to just post stuff like "BOOBIES OMG LOL". So it's better that I pretend like I'm not anonymous. It keeps you honest and not stupid.

Operation Darkness demo. Going by this, it's not a bad game at all. I can see where the complaints of the camera come from, but it's really not too bad. I like the whole WWII theme.
Is the demo indicative of the overall difficulty? Cause if it is, LOFL @ CrossWard.
Anyway, I lost the demo battle cause I moved the main character toward a couple SS soldiers and didn't realize one of them was close enough to run up on him. That #### is lame. If everyone else can be revived, why not him? It's not like this is Nocturne, where that sort of thing makes sense.

Every Toilet room is a save point, there is one in each mayor area, also, if you check the mirrors in fantasy land's toilet room, you open a passage that teleports you from there to the main area of the mall. It's a great shortcut and it takes anyone you might have in tow, too.

I beat The Journey of Persona 3 - prolly a bit too high to keep the tension there. I mean at 140+ playhours and level 90+ (and still not fiding all the hunts for Elizabeth!!!), my team was way easy. I only had to try twice.
What happened to the good ol days where you could max out your whole party, and still not know if you were on track to win the last battle?
I liked the game, overall, but it seemed a bit introductory, and the bittersweet tinge in the game was touching, but not as gripping as the Persona 2 ineffable tragedy.

Urban Reign has the most awful enemy AI ever. You are not hallucinating. Several levels are a total crapshoot as to if you can ever win them.
not4hire: To kill the convicts easily, go over to the parking lot at the back end of the Leisure Park, and grab the sports car. Ram their Jeep and try to get it stick in a stand of trees. If you can manage to do that, you can get out and jump on top of the truck while it isn't moving and melee them pretty effectively. Also, if you're lucky, you can kill either the driver or the passenger with the bat by ramming them.
Actually, stopping them makes it pretty damn easy to shoot at them too, so grabbing a Shotgun or SMG isn't a bad idea either.
Taking them out gives you some good PP and allows you to grab the HMG off the back of the Jeep. It's pretty much the most powerful non-secret weapon in the game, and almost required if you want to beat Cletus in the Gunshop.

I played the Too Human Demo. It is better than I expected as a Diablo clone, but I hate the controls and the camera. I also hate that it is a trilogy. The story seems interesting tho, and from what I could see in the demo, this seems like a fine pickup when it drops in price.
Tried out 1942 joint squad. I would prolly pick it up but you can apparently finish it in 30 mins,a and there is no autofire option, which i really like in shooters. Not really worth it for 10 I thought.
Finished Senko no Ronde with a couple chars. It's pretty decent for 15 dollars, but also has its share of issues. namely the auto aiming is terrible, and your rounder seems to get stuck firing at stupid things half the time.

Just beat Case 7 in Dead Rising.
OMFG it was the most epic ####ing thing in the world. Ok so that annoying radio that gives you scoops/sidequests. I always ####ing ignore because I can't read the tiny text on my SDTV. Well for some reason I am on my way to diffuse the bombs from Carlito and I get a little hint of some girl hiding out. (keep in mind throughout the entire game I haven't returned one survivor to the security room) I did that and was pretty damn stoked about the points you get from it. Also decided to do the little costume achievement by putting Servebot's head on zombies.
So this drains half my mission time by the time I get back to the maintenance tunnel. I have like.. 15-20 minutes left to do this real time. I keep dying because Carlito keeps blowing up my motorcycle or zombies just ambush me. So I gave it one more try when I thought all hope was lost. I ####ing went in there with my motorcycle and this time just avoided Carlito and juked everything possible. It felt like some seriously zombified Jason Bourne ####. I diffused the bombs and get the hell out of there with literally 5 minutes on the wrist watch remaining, which would be seconds in real time. I thought I died when I hit the cutscene point and almost just turned the 360 off but lucky for me.. I made it.
Sorry for the rant but holy #### this game is ####ing epic. I see myself replaying it over and over, especially for that x-buster.

Because this planet is a set mission, rather than a simple exploration one. You can't save mid-mission for some asinine reason. They probably think it makes the game more difficult, but artificial difficulty like this only makes it tedious and frustrating.

If you're really determined, though, there is one sidequest in Raidou that has a pretty direct connection to SMT1:

Wow, really? I am a huge MG fan and that #### was good, but SOMETHING was missing to make it that best game experience. Cool though, play some MGO now.
Al: Okay okay!,
Gillian: I haven't got that far yet, but so far it seems awesome, if it falls down, I'll certainly mention it. Though I have noticed something missing, too.
Where is my Kojima humor, and the interesting "save" conversations, and the interesting codec conversations? So far it's all Otacon and it's all "You have to go to X" Where are the comments on weapons and all that stuff?
The codec is my favorite part of MG games, and I'm dissapointed with it this time, so far. Also, it took me some 7 hours to get through Act 1 (playing on hard, I take my time) How much is this percentage wise of the game?
I also like the plot and the cut scenes so far have been great.
Best game you have ever played? Wow, is this the second game you have ever played? It was good, but once you are done with act 2 you are about 80% done with the gameplay. It was great, dont get me wrong, but best game ever? No.
I thought it was the best game ever, too, and I felt it picked up even more after act 2 (I wasn't the biggest fan of sneaking by firefights with infinitely respawning soldiers). Maybe calling it the best "game" ever is somewhat misleading, considering a gigantic portion of it isn't gameplay, but it's still my favorite game. I play a lot of games, too.
Wrote more about why over here - http://atlus.com/new_forum/viewtopic.php?t=1731
I've liked the bits with the infinitely respawning soldiers so far. They are interesting, and I like the Yay the mlitias do when they win.
Dual: Your thread won't let me post for whatever reason :(
^ I didn't like them because every single time I'd think they'd stop spawning and an opening would happen. It would take me several minutes to figure out I'm supposed to sneak past. I haven't played the game a second time, I don't think they'd bother me remotely as much (or at all) on another playthrough.
And that's really weird, I have absolutely no idea why D:
^ Heh, I was farming Drebin points on one of the infinite rocket launchers. :)

I heard such bad things about the Chicken emblem. I also heard Big Boss emblem is a pain also, though I heard it's more doable now since you don't have to worry about saving just a lot of trial and errors.
@Sei:
They pretty much got rid of the codec in the 4th game. It's no longer the narrative in the story telling. Everything is told in cutscenes now, the codec purpose now is just brief gameplay. Part of me is a little disappointed, but I didn't like how MGS2 had like 70% of codec, so I can't say I'm truly hurting over it.
In regard to the best game. I think it's one of the best games I played this gen, but it might be fanboyism talking, since I can't really think of any problems with the game. The gameplay always took a backseat in the series. I guess if I really have to think, the only thing makes me mad is still installing after I already did it. (It kind of gets me mad since I'm already on my 3rd playthrough.)

What's "AC 4 Answer?" An expansion? Depending on how cheap it is, I might be interested.
A stand-alone sequel.

I was playing SMT earlier, while my slow ass computer files huge regulatory reports required in the energy industry so the lights can stay on.
I have been working 18 hours now, and even though I am not playing SMT anymore, I went to the fridge and got out my fresh carved pinapple and heard the enemy encounter music (which I so want to remix!). I decided to "Talk" to the pineapple, but wasn't feeling too friendly, so I remained assertive. The pineapple admired my deterimination, and joined my journey back to my desk. I then ate him. and started listening to "Danzig" and kept submitting reports.
MY DS is dead and I got about an hour or two to go. :(

I just cleared the first Kalpa in Nocturne. :) I met Gozu-Tennoh in Mantra Headquarters and declined his offer. I guess I'm on my way back to Ginza now.
Also, I'm at the tower of Babil in FFIV, and I'm about to start a game of Fable Lost Chapters for PC, probably trying for the evil path.

From what I’ve seen so far I think it’s a good game, I’m enjoying it. I do have some complaints though. The first two scenarios weren’t very challenging. There’s no MP, instead there’s a limited number of times that each character can cast a certain spell and I have yet to see an item (if there is any) that can recover it. I’m going to quote this from NCS site because I think they said it better than I ever could, “The movements of the main character are jittery when traveling.” Also, you can’t replay old stages, but I don’t know how I feel about it since I’ve just started PP. Let’s see how it turns out later on.
I really like the whole demon capturing system. For each demon there is a minimum amount of damage that you have to inflict in order to overkill it. And only by overkilling you’re able to capture it. It adds to the strategy. Another nice feature is that you can do many things with the captured demons: you can bring them into battle, sell them or convert them to skills, PP and items.
The hand draw character portraits and backgrounds are very beautiful. In this aspect Poison Pink reminds me a lot of Unlimited Saga.

Played Fatal Frame II.. I got to the point where Mayu is laughing in this creepy room and then, a guy who greatly resembles the samurai from Samurai Shodown appeared. I did an almost perfect zero shot and the next thing, the game over screen popped up.
Apparently, the dude is invulnerable unless I get a stone mirror. Jeez.. I didn't even get to save game.

I've been killing some time at work with Shiren. Mostly working the lower levels for good equipment, useful herbs and scrolls and decent backup weapons in case I die so I don't have to start from scratch. About to go forward with the equipment I have to see how far I can get (after I get some work done, that is).

Still MGS 4. Act 2 is amazing. I am currently doing stealth/trying to kill as few people as possible, but I really like the war mechanics. I was messing around with helping the rebels storm an outpost, and having them following me around, giving me kudos when I shoot someone, watching my back, and otherwise be awesome, was great.
I need to replay this as a straight action game. The attention to detail is amazing. I love the in game ipod, too. I think it;'s working as a real one is an awesome touch. Still miss codec, Still feels like the best game ever to me.
What didn't you like about it Gillian (if it doesnt contain spoilers?). I dunno If it's cause I'm taking my time, but it's already longer and more epic that 99% of games out there.

Neo Contra and Contra 4.
What do you think of Neo Contra? I like it a lot, personally, but I'm curious to hear your opinion. Also, if you didn't know this, it has a double-sided insert. The other side has the full Jim Lee illustration.

I happened to see the other side by accident. While the art is cool, personally I like the Japanese cover a little more.
I am totally addicted to this game right now. I owned it before, but kind of passed it off quickly. Don't really know why except that maybe I was still a little irked over Shattered Soldier.
NC totally reminds me of Shock Troopers minus the small melee move / stab. I like the music, love the tongue in cheek humor, and really dig the gameplay. It is a little more on the easy side compared to some of the other Contras, but I think it feels like it has a lot of replay value to me for the S ranks -- I also like to see how quickly I can cruise through a level with a 100% hit ratio unscathed.

Awesome, I'm glad to see someone else really appreciates it. Too many Contra fans I know ragged on it for the silly story (I loved how funny it was), the low difficulty (I agree it's real easy, but who cares? It's fun, and that's what should matter), and the non-traditional gameplay (despite the fact games like Super C and Contra III had overhead sections). I'm really glad you're not one of those arrogant Contra snobs who bashes the game without giving it a fair chance.
Also, what's Shock Troopers? I've never played that one.

Bear in mind that Izuna is considered pretty easy because while you lose items and money, you keep experience and levels. In Shiren the Wanderer, for example, when you die, you lose everything: money, items, experience, and levels. You basically start over.
