In my mind, there's only 1 game that fits the bill:

And yes, i know that hell has a better chance of freezing over than this getting a us release, but still, it's nice to hope.
What do you think this mystery game might be???
So wait, did ToD already get a remake or what?

Yes, he posted a picture of it right there.
And...it's possible, if unlikely. XSEED got the rights to Retro Game Challenge from Bamco, and they were talking with them about Fragile. Tales also has an established fanbase here, quite a few of whom started with Destiny.
The article writer also makes a good point; if Atlus USA passed up on Growlanser, it's fully possible that they grabbed it.

I really hope it's Tales of Destiny.

People post fan-made boxart all the time, so I take it with a grain of salt.

I hope this could be Zill O'll Infinite Plus, even if Zill O'll doesn't really fit the "classic PSone RPG" bill.

I'm with Kid on this.

I don't think it would be Zill O'll just because the article says classic RPG in North America.
I don't know if I'd get my hopes up over Tales of Destiny. I would be very surprised if it was a PS2 game. I hope I'm wrong. I would love to play the ToD remake.

Suikoden, but the PSP version of I+II is more or less just a straight up port. However, if they're talking about PSX RPGs in general... well, there are tons.

I already played Tales of Destiny back when it released on PS1, Growlanser please.

Hey guys, maybe it's an announced title?

However, if they're talking about PSX RPGs in general... well, there are tons. But if you do not include games that were published by companies that most likely still have the publishing rights like Square, Enix, Konami or Atlus then the list of games that would fit the classic psx rpg description is pretty small (and that is with the "classic" tag being applied rather liberally).
Looking at the actual interview over at rpgamer it could be something xseed is doing in conjunction with Marvelous or a Japanese company that has been working with Marvelous.

Uhh, yeah. It came out in November 2006. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI9-B7Qe0rg&feature=related)
Also, I highly doubt Namco Bandai would let Xseed publish the game.
And ToD PS2 is a remake, not an enhanced port.
Tales Of Destiny isn't really a classic, either. The PS1 version sold horribly.

This is their way of saying: I'm sorry we lost the rights for Muramasa, but good things are still coming.

Which one are you talking about?

^Well what I meant was maybe this is a remake that's currently being developed behind closed doors. Maybe a title that isn't tied to major game publishers. Just a thought.

...Ken Berry, Director of Business Development, says “We also have an enhanced remake of a classic PSone RPG in North America that we’ll be announcing soon.”
And classic means quality, not amount of copies sold.

^And those could mean different things to different people.
It is probably going to be some title not mentioned yet, where all of us go "oh yeaaaa, I forgot about that one."

Oh ok.....You meant to say unannounced then....

Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star was just announced in Famitsu this week. It's a remake of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, which is a PS1 RPG. I consider it a classic. I don't know if anyone else does. Maybe Lunar is what he was hinting at.

^This seems like a solid idea. I would support it no matter who brought it over.

If you want to get technical, that's actually a Sega CD game.

Yeah I was gonna say that too. I first played it on my trusy old CDX.

Don't get me wrong, Lunar will always remain a great classic to me, but I don't think we need a 4th rendition of it.
I hope Growlanser gets a shot instead, let us play something we've never played before in English.

This isn't a PS1 classic but XSEED has announced it is bringing over Ragnarok Online for the DS. Not really what I am into but just thought I should mention it.

First thing that came to mind for me was Wild Arms, even though the first remake was terrible.
