I have never heard of Thunderbolt games before...

Who are they? I'm surprised to see a review already, don't they usually have to wait until release date?

Surprisingly, some game reviewers actually don't work for magazines.

No video yet, though.

ign.com always gets to do a review before a product is out. Why not let others do it as well? Anyway, I knew all along that the game would impress:)

Can't believe the thunderbolt review didn't mention perhaps one of the best upgrades for the game.

Moveable camera. I still remember playing the first one and having to use the shadow on the ground, as a reference to see if I was close enough to an enemy to hit. I can't tell you how many times I swung that sword in DS1, only to completely miss because of that horrible static camera.

I stopped reading about half way through it. It's giving out WAY too much story-related information for a review. I feel like someone is telling me the entire story reading that. >.>

There's actually barely any story info in that at all. <_<

This part from the review.

The story itself feels darker than that of Soulless Army, and the characters aren’t simply good or evil. Dahn, whom you might think of as a villain, isn’t bad at all, and players can sympathize with his actions. He does things for the people close to him and feels what he does is right, but his actions turn out misguided. The good guys put up a good front, but they mask their sorrow and linger on what they think is right or wrong in the world. The main theme of the story revolves around luck and shows how people fall into despair when they have no luck on their side. You see NPCs fall apart throughout the course of the game when things are not going their way and feel detached about any remaining hopes in the word. The story paints a good picture, managing to keep things engaging and interesting, building things up nicely all the way up to the final showdown.

In my opinion says way too much about the story. Now when I play the game, I won't get to sit there and think "Oooh could he be the one behind everything?" or something along that line. It might only have a minor part in the story, but we don't know that.

Eh, I don't think it's really that spoilerific. All it's saying is that the badguys and goodguys are more than just two dimensional characters, which is what any fan of SMT should come to expect.

That's a bit nitpicky to state "way too much about the story." It's entirely possible this "Dahn" is shown in the first 10 minutes or so, and it just so happens in he acts like a villain.

Or maybe he is THE villain.

Dum dum duuuuum?

(For the record, haven't played this game yet nor the first 3).

And Destructoid (http://www.destructoid.com/review-devil-summoner-2-raidou-kuzunoha-vs-king-abaddon-131824.phtml) gave it a 9/10.

I like everything I'm hearing except for the whole luck stat being a pretty big part, especially since it can go down in some situations. I'll have to play the game first, of course, to be certain if I'll dislike it or not.

so obviously the solution to that is to quote the spoiler here and bold it so everyone else can see too. thanks!

content: I got an email from Amazon last night that the order had shipped, but it still isn't showing up in my order box :(

You know reading that cheatcc review, I honestly have to wonder if the reviewer even played the game. It almost seems like a cookie cutter review to me. There is so much in that review I could pick apart.

Looks like IGN.com didn't like the visuals. The game looks great with my s-video cables.

S-cables or not I get the feeling the reviewer would have still been unimpressed with the graphics. I think he just doesn't care for the megaten style of graphics (or at least the artist who did them) because graphically this game looks as good as any other late generation PS2 game (except for maybe Final Fantasy XII).

RPGaymer gave it a 3/5 but the review comes across as extremely whiny.

I don't want to toot our own horn, but our group certainly enjoyed the change of pace from the other SMT games. Our review's a little more focused on introducing people who've never played the first game and have them get into this series by means of comparison with the nearest approximation of how the game plays (i.e. Tales of..., Star Ocean).
