Crashes

I'm sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but the game started to crash on me. I'm not the only one which is experiencing this problem:

I play the game on a DS Lite and it did freeze once while in battle while the visual effect of a physical attack was resolved. I also noticed that the graphics can get garbled in battle as well. All these issues only happened on the Fourth Floor in Modern mode so far, hopefully using Classic mode will cure the problem but apparently not if GameFAQs posters are right.

I want to know if:

1) Is this problem is limited to some copies of the game? If it is, I could return the game to get a good copy.
2) Is there any known workaround to prevent these problems? For example, the game will crash when X or/and Y conditions are met, so I could simply avoid them.

Saving very often is the only workaround I'm aware of.

My copy has crashed once on the first floor of the dungeon but after that it have worked just fine (been playing 20h)

I've had the game crash twice on me in Modern mode (Floor 4 and post-game), but never in Classic mode. 62 hours, split pretty evenly between both modes.

Had the time to play about 3h tonight, the 4th floor is mosty complete and I didn't experience any crash nor glitch in Classic mode. Case solved perhaps.

I actually had a save file delete when I tried to load it, with the error message 'File Corrupt'.

Thankfully, I rock all three save slots alternately, so I only lost ~20 minutes, maybe.

And at 30+ hours right now, I could not deal with a busted save ;)

I've had one crash, I was fighting the Gold Coin boss and the enmormous group of coins were spamming breath attacks, and I was spamming group-targeting spells and the game locked up. Seemed to be because it was trying to display too many flass screens at once, but who knows.

I also once got a message that my Priest had healed 4$ HP, but I got healed like normal and the game just went on playing.

I got a crash at the exact same place.

Other than that I think I had the game freeze one me one or two other times, but nothing more than that and I had always saved shortly before they happened.

It's nothing game breaking, it happens very rarely and might not happen to you at all. It's nowhere near bad enough to warrant not buying the game.

The only thing I've had happen to me is a corrupted file. Of course, that was my only file so I was a little bit ticked at the time. I removed the chip, wiped it clean, and placed it back in my DS and my save file was restored. I've had weirder things happen with save files, so I'm just glad I didn't give up.

I'm 20 hours in and haven't had a single crash or freeze.

Apparently some copies are worse than others for glitching up. The most common occurance seems to be far too many group-target spells being thrown in a single battle by both sides [see the Gold Coin battle], but... *Shrug* I'unno.

No crashes for me thus far. Wouldn't stop me even if there were, though. Game is far too addictive to allow a little thing like that to stop me.

12 hours in, and no crashes. And no progression past the 2nd floor, but whatever. xD

I beat the Gold Coin boss yesterday in Modern mode and no crash. So I guess the actual source of the crash is hard to identify, the game is simply instable, but only on the 4th floor for me in Modern mode.

Anyways starting with the 4th floor, you have to save quite often in the first place since being ambushed by a large quantity of Djinns and Mages, even if you are at full health, you're going see the title screen in a few seconds... unless you did some extensive power levelling.

Gold Coin boss for me. Twice. I noticed it happened only when killing one with a physical attack. I just offed them with Mage spells, and haven't had another problem since. Thank goodness I save like every ten seconds.

12 hours into it and no crashing yet. Then again I've only explored 3 floors. Brother in law's on the 6th floor with around 50+ hours and no crashing on his end either.
